Chapter 194 Walk Away
Harriet blinked, confused. “Wait, what do you mean I’m responsible for dealing with the other men?”
“Kit,” Zaden said simply.
It finally clicked. Harriet straightened up and declared dramatically, “Alright! For your happiness, I’ll make the ultimate sacrifice. I’m already keeping an eye on Kit, and if I find out anything, I’ll report back right away!”
“Zaden.”
Athena’s voice came from behind him.
Hearing her, Zaden said quickly into the phone, “We’ll talk later,” then hung up.
Athena walked over and said, “All done.”
“Good. Let’s take a walk.”
She nodded, and they began strolling through the church together. They moved toward the back garden, where it was quieter and far less crowded than the main hall. The greenery there gave the place a peaceful, almost sacred feeling.
As Athena looked around at the lush trees and flowers, her thoughts drifted back to everything that had happened.
She stopped walking and sighed softly. “Zaden, I need to talk to you about something.”
He frowned slightly, a bad feeling creeping up his chest. “Go ahead.”
Athena hesitated for a moment, then said, “Teri can talk now. The reason we got together in the first place was because of her. Now that everything’s settled, I think …
Zaden’s brows furrowed deeper and deeper as she spoke,
”
Just a few minutes ago, Harriet had been urging him to go after Athena–and now Athena wanted to leave him?
Seeing his expression turn stormy, Athena panicked a little. She thought maybe she had hurt his pride by bringing it up so bluntly.
She rushed to explain, “Anyway, your mother already told everyone I was just your temporary partner, right? So this shouldn’t affect you in any way.”

Athena still didn’t know that all those nasty rumors about her online had already been wiped clean.
While praying earlier, she’d thought it through carefully. This seemed like the best way to handle things. She didn’t want to drag Zaden down any further. If she stepped away, whatever people said about her would have nothing to do with him anymore.
Maybe his relationship with Beverly would even get better.
Zaden was quiet for a long time. When she finally stopped talking, he asked in a low voice, “And what about Teri? Can you really walk away from her?”
“Uh… “Athena thought for a moment. Teri was adorable.
She’d definitely miss that little girl.
But she had to draw a line somewhere. There was no future between her and Zaden anyway. Their marriage had only been temporary, for Teri’s sake. Ending things now was the right
move.
Athena smiled faintly, though her smile looked a little sad. “Teri’s such a good kid. I’ll visit her whenever I have time.”
Zaden studied her face, noticing how firm she looked.
No matter what he said, she wouldn’t change her mind.
His lips pressed into a thin line. All the confidence he’d felt earlier seemed to drain away, replaced by a quiet sense of defeat.
“I see,” he said softly.
Athena forced a polite smile. “Then it’s settled. Once we’re back in Vlephia, we’ll file for divorce.”
Zaden’s jaw tightened.
Athena reached out her hand and said politely, “Thank you for taking care of me all this time.”
Zaden looked down at her hand but didn’t take it.
The silence between them suddenly turned awkward.
