Zaden said softly, “Someone once told me that riding a roller coaster is the best way to let out all your frustration. Everyone’s screaming, so no one notices if you’re scared or pays attention to your yelling.”
Athena snorted. “Who says I’m scared? I’ve never been afraid of these rides!”
Teri clapped her hands. “Athena, you’re awesome!”
“So, should we give it a try?”
Athena hesitated at first, worried the child might be too scared, but Teri was bouncing with excitement. Not wanting to ruin her fun, Athena agreed.
The ride was so intense that Athena ended up screaming at the top of her lungs.
Even after it was over, her heart was still racing.
That was when she really understood what Zaden meant. She hadn’t been in the best mood all day, but after letting go and screaming it out, she felt much lighter.
They were about to head for another ride when a sudden commotion broke out nearby. Someone shouted, “Oh my god, what’s wrong with that kid?”
Through the crowd, Athena spotted someone lying on the ground. He looked a lot like Dion.
And Lewis was crouched beside him.
Dion looked terrible. His whole body was flushed red, his lips pale, and his breathing shallow and fast.
Athena’s heart dropped. He must be having an allergic reaction.
She didn’t want to get involved, but she couldn’t move away either.
People around started yelling, “This kid doesn’t look good! Hurry, take him to the medical
room!”
Athena couldn’t hold back any longer.
She told herself to think like a doctor. This wasn’t about the past–it was about saving
someone’s life.
After steadying herself, she pushed through the crowd. “Excuse me, let me through.”

Athena knelt beside Dion, checked his condition, then said to Lewis, “Move him somewhere open. There are too many people here.”
Just then, the amusement park’s medical staff arrived with a stretcher.
“How’s the boy?” one of them asked.
Athena answered quickly, her tone calm and professional. “He’s having an allergic reaction. His tonsils are swollen. We need anti–allergy treatment right away, or it could turn life–threatening.”
When the people around heard it was an allergic reaction, they all looked over with concern.
No one had expected the child’s allergy to be that serious. Seeing how bad things looked, they could only hope he would pull through.
The medic nodded and said, “We’re calling an ambulance now. We don’t have the right medicine here to treat him.”
“Get him on the stretcher. We’ll wait by the entrance,” another added.
Lewis spoke up, “No need for an ambulance. It’ll waste time. I’ll drive him to the hospital–it’s faster.”
The staff exchanged glances, then nodded in agreement.
Lewis picked Dion up and started toward the exit. As he passed Athena, he said, “I can’t watch him while driving. Do you want to come to the hospital with us?”
Athena pressed her lips together, her hand curling into a fist before she slowly loosened it.
“Alright,” she said quietly.
Lewis’s lips curved into a smug smile as he strode toward the gate.
As he passed Zaden, he gave him a deliberate look, his eyes full of silent challenge.
Athena turned quickly to Zaden. “I’m sorry, I…”
Zaden’s expression stayed calm. His voice was gentle. “It’s fine. Go with him. The boy needs help right away.”
Athena felt a wave of relief.
