At this moment, Athena couldn’t help shooting a slightly resentful look at Kit.

But Kit looked positively delighted, almost as if he were enjoying the show. Clearly, he had no intention of helping her out.
Athena felt completely hopeless.
“Ms. Hall, are you trying to figure out which gentleman here suits you best? Actually, I think my son is quite a good choice. You could consider him.”
As soon as the businessman finished speaking, his son immediately flashed Athena a bright
smile. “Ms. Hall, my name is Dean Chester. You might want to consider me.”
The others saw how forward he was and refused to be outdone. One after another, they began introducing themselves, trying to leave a good impression on Athena.
Watching the scene before her grow increasingly chaotic, Athena felt her mind
go
blank.
What’s going on?
They don’t seem to mind that I’m divorced. They’re all being so enthusiastic, as if I’m some highborn heiress. With my situation, there’s really nothing worth competing for.
Fabio nodded in satisfaction. He turned to Athena and asked softly, “Athena, you’ve met quite a few gentlemen just now. Is there anyone who caught your interest?”
She had no interest in any of them.
Just as Athena was about to speak, the door to the private room suddenly opened. A middle- aged man walked in, and his appearance stunned everyone inside.
When Athena saw him, she was just as shocked as everyone else. But her shock didn’t end there -when she saw the man following behind him, her jaw nearly dropped.
Zaden?
Why is he here?
For a moment, Athena panicked. She even felt a little guilty. Surrounded by so many men, she looked like some social butterfly, and it made her want to disappear.
I hope Zaden won’t take this the wrong way.
Just yesterday, she’d told him she still had feelings for Lewis and wanted to reconcile. Yet here

she was today, meeting handsome men at a matchmaking event. There was no way she could make herself sound innocent.
Athena didn’t even dare to look at Zaden. She cast a pleading look at Kit.
Kit only shrugged.
Athena sighed. Fine, there was truly no one who could save her now.
“Mr. Barton, what brings you here?” Fabio was the first to break the tense silence. He hadn’t invited Larry to today’s gathering, so his arrival was clearly unannounced.
And then there was the man behind him.
Fabio’s gaze fell on Zaden. His expression grew slightly grave, and a flicker of complicated emotion flashed in his eyes, as if some old memory had just resurfaced.
Larry took a seat, a faint smile on his face as he said to everyone, “I happened to be dining at Mistvale today. When I heard that Mr. Rice was having a gathering here, I thought I’d drop by and take a look…”
As he finished, his gaze shifted toward Athena. His eyes narrowed slowly.
Then, with a meaningful tone, he said, “So many young gentlemen here–is this a matchmaking event?”
Fabio cleared his throat and said, “That’s right.”
Once his words fell, Larry immediately chuckled and followed up, “What a coincidence. I happen to have a friend who just went through a breakup. Why don’t we let him join, too?”
Hearing Larry mention his “friend,” Fabio frowned deeply.
Larry was around his own age. If that friend was really someone of his generation, then wasn’t he far too old for this sort of thing?
Although Athena was his illegitimate daughter, Fabio had no intention of letting her settle for
an old man.
Just as he was about to refuse, he heard Larry say, “Zaden, why don’t you introduce yourself?”
Hearing Larry’s words, Zaden gave a polite nod to the crowd. “Zaden, President of Storm Group.”
Those few simple words instantly made the atmosphere even more tense.
Most of the gentlemen present were second–generation heirs. None of them had achievements
