Chapter 241 Remarry
Zaden was pissed at himself. He shouldn’t have said that.
But it was too late now. One wrong word had thrown everything off track.
There was no way to undo it.
He said seriously, “I’ll get someone on it right now. You’ll have an answer before the day is over.”
Lewis and Nina had stayed at the villa overnight. He’d planned to sleep in the guest room, but she threatened him again, forcing him to share her bed.
He gave in just to avoid another fight.
On the surface, Lewis looked calm and detached, but deep down, Nina was driving him crazy.
He wished she would just vanish.
He couldn’t believe he’d ever liked her. Compared to Athena, Nina didn’t stand a chance—not in looks, not in anything.
And they had a son together. Maybe that was the real reason Athena couldn’t forgive him.
As soon as the sun started to rise, Lewis got up.
Nina woke up as soon as she heard him move.
She’d worked hard last night, trying every trick she knew to get him to do something intimate with her.
But Lewis just seemed numb-completely uninterested, showing no reaction at all.
She was fuming.
He used to crave her touch, and now he couldn’t care less.
When morning came, Lewis didn’t hesitate to head for the door.
It was obvious he couldn’t wait to get away from her.
“Lewis, where are you going?” Nina called out, her voice soft and wounded. “You promised we’d go to the county clerk’s office today to remarry!”
His face darkened. “I’m just going downstairs for breakfast.”
Then, he slammed the door shut and walked off.
Finished
Nina sat up. She knew he didn’t love her anymore, but that didn’t matter to her. As long as she could pull him back to her side, everything would be fine again.
So what if he was cold now? He’d come around eventually.
She fixed herself up and went downstairs after him. He was already eating the breakfast his assistant had brought for him alone. Nothing had been prepared for her.
It stung a little, but she stayed quiet.
Breakfast wasn’t the point today. Getting her status back as his wife was.
When he finished eating, she said, “Lewis, now that you’re done, can we go get remarried? Once we do, I’ll give Athena’s daughter back to you.”
Lewis wiped his mouth with a napkin, stood up, and said flatly, “Let’s go.”
They left together for the county clerk’s office.
Lewis made a few calls to cut the wait short, and soon everything was done. Nina held the new marriage certificate, smiling like she’d finally won.
Lewis, standing next to her, showed a mocking look.
He said coldly, “You got what you wanted, Nina. Now where’s Anna?”
Nina hesitated. She didn’t want to hand Anna back. Once she did, she’d have no control over him anymore.
Lewis’ expression turned darker, his voice sharp. “Don’t play games with me. Or I’ll make you regret it.”
Seeing him get angry, she quickly said, “Don’t be mad! I didn’t say I wouldn’t give her back. I’ll take you to her right now.”
Even though fear crept in, she felt a bit more confident clutching that certificate.
