Chapter 243 His Tricks

That was when Athena suddenly noticed Zaden’s arms around her.

She tried to pull away, but his hold was firm, like he had no plans of letting her go.

After struggling for a bit, she finally gave up and stayed still.

Zaden leaned close and asked, “What did Lewis say?”

Finished

“He said my daughter is with him. He’s sending me the address soon and told me to come right away.”

A sharp light flashed in Zaden’s eyes. His voice dropped, steady and calm. “Alright. Do what he says. I’ll go with you. Whatever he’s plotting, don’t worry. I’ve got your back.”

Athena hesitated, wanting to respond, but his words somehow made her feel warm and safe inside.

Ding!

Right then, Athena’s phone buzzed with a new message. It was from Lewis, and he’d sent her a location.

She opened it and frowned when she saw where it was-the county clerk’s office.

Her brows drew together. She instantly understood why he wanted to meet there.

Zaden glanced at the screen too and gave a cold laugh. “Lewis really can’t hide his tricks, huh? The county clerk’s office? Could he be any more obvious?”

He paused, smirking. “If you’re planning to run back to him, shouldn’t you ask your current husband’s opinion first?”

Athena sighed and rubbed her temples. The whole situation was a total mess. Legally, she was indeed Zaden’s wife right now.

He wasn’t wrong.

“Let’s go,” Zaden said, his tone turning serious as the teasing faded.

Athena forced herself to clear her head and followed him out.

Before long, they reached the place Lewis had chosen. Through the glass, she saw him sitting inside, already waiting. Her stomach twisted with nerves.

During the ride, she’d imagined over and over what it would feel like to finally see her daughter again.

But now that her daughter was here, she felt more anxious than she’d expected.

Zaden unbuckled his seatbelt and looked over. “Go ahead. I’ll stay here. If something happens, call me

Athena nodded, stepped out of the car, and walked toward the building.

As soon as she was gone, Zaden pulled out his phone and called Tommy. “How’s the situation with Nina?”

“Something happened to her.”

Zaden didn’t even look shocked.

He’d already guessed Lewis might do something reckless. It just happened sooner than he thought.

With all the pressure from Nina, Lewis was bound to snap eventually.

How he planned to pull it off, though, was anyone’s guess.

“What exactly happened?”

“Lewis and Nina fought. She got hurt, and he just left her there. If we hadn’t rushed her to the hospital, she wouldn’t have made it.”

Zaden gave a small, mocking smile.

At least Nina was alive. That was what mattered.

“Alright. Keep her stable and wait for my next move,” he said. Then, he added, “And what about the info on that fake daughter?”

They’d discovered Lewis was using a fake to fool Athena, but the proof wasn’t solid yet.

So, Zaden hadn’t told Athena right away.

He wanted to be sure before telling her the truth.

“I’ve got it. Sending it to you now.”

A moment later, the files arrived.

Zaden opened them, scanned through quickly, then smirked. He stepped out of the car and
