Athena looked at Harriet and Teri sitting comfortably on the couch and asked, Aren’t you two going

home?

I’m not leaving,Harriet said.

Teri nodded in full agreement, showing she felt the same way.

Athena sighed.

If Zaden doesn’t see Teri, he’ll miss her.

Harriet immediately replied, No, he won’t.”

Athena felt like she’d been caught in a web she couldn’t escape. She adored Teri, but the little girl was Zaden’s daughter. It wouldn’t be right for her to stay at her place for all days.

Harriet clearly didn’t care about that.

Harriet suddenly perked up and said excitedly, I’ll call Zaden and have him come for dinner. That way, you don’t have to worry about him missing Teri.”

Before Athena could even react, Harriet had already made up her mind and pulled out her phone.

Hey, dinner at Athena’s tonight. Are you free? Great! See you after work.”

She hung up, grinning from ear to ear. There! Problem solved!

Athena took a deep breath, feeling a wave of exhaustion wash over her.

Sometimes she really wondered how someone as careless as Harriet ever managed to become a lawyer.

Harriet, pretending not to notice Athena’s frustration, turned to Teri with a cheerful smile. Teri, you’ve never tried Athena’s cooking, right? She’s amazing in the kitchen!

Teri’s face immediately lit up with excitement. Her big eyes sparkled as she looked at Athena with pure anticipation.

Athena looked into Teri’s big, hopeful eyes, and her heart melted. She just couldn’t bear to see the little girl disappointed. In the end, she completely gave in.

Alright, she said softly, I’ll go buy groceries.”

The three of them headed to the nearby farmer’s market. There was a small one not far from Athena’s house, close enough for them to walk.

On the way, Teri hurried to Athena’s side and reached for her hand. Athena, let me help you walk, she said earnestly.

Athena was still using a crutch, but her leg had almost healed. In a few more days, the cast could finally

come off.

She didn’t refuse Teri’s kindness and smiled warmly. You’re such a sweet girl, Teri.

Behind them, Harriet walked slowly, watching Athena and Teri walk hand in hand in front of her. She couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. Those two really look like mother and daughter.

If Athena ever became Teri’s mom, Harriet thought with a soft smile, it wouldn’t be such a bad thing.

Athena truly loved kids. She’d make a wonderful mother.

After the three of them left, a small figure suddenly appeared around the corner. Dion stood there, his face dark with jealousy and anger as he watched Athena walking hand in hand with Teri.

He had finally gathered the courage to come and make peace with his mom.

But he never expected to see her acting so close to another childlike that little girl was her daughter instead of him. Had his mom forgotten about him?

Dion couldn’t help it. He followed them quietly.

The maid behind him sighed helplessly and trailed after him.

She was the new maid Lewis had hired to look after Dion, but this badtempered boy was more than she

could handle.

Earlier that day, when she went to pick Dion up from school, he looked disappointed the moment he saw her. He had refused to go home, insisting on finding someone.

In the end, she had no choice but to bring him here.

Meanwhile, Athena and Teri were happily chatting as they walked. It seemed this was Teri’s first time visiting a local market. Everything fascinated her. Athena patiently explained what each thing was, teaching her little bits of everyday knowledge along the way.

Teri listened carefully with wide eyes and pure excitement. She was having a great time.

Neither of them noticed Dion following closely behind. The boy’s face filled with bitterness and

resentment.

Harriet, being her usual carefree self, didn’t notice him either.

Dion followed Athena the whole way, watching her laugh and chat with another child. The sight made his blood boil. He wanted to snatch his mom back, to tear her away from that little girl.
