Athena didn’t need that kind of sympathy, and she wasn’t going to change her mind.
Bridget sighed and tried to persuade her again. “Men make mistakes. If you really want to save your marriage, just have another baby with Lewis. Once a man has a child, he’ll finally settle down.”
Athena frowned. The irritation in her eyes was obvious.
Without another word, she hung up the phone.
Soon, Bridget would be her ex–mother–in–law, and Athena wasn’t about to let that woman ruin her mood again.
She took a deep breath, regained her composure, and went back to the dining room.
Zaden handed her a plate of food, and Teri affectionately placed a piece of meat on her plate. “Athena, thank you for cooking for us.”
Athena’s bad mood melted away in an instant.
Teri really was her little angel who could chase away all negativity.
Lewis’s phone buzzed.
He looked down and saw his mother’s name on the screen.
“What is it?”
He suspected this was about Nina, but he answered anyway.
“Lewis,” Bridget said sternly, “I’m reminding you–your grandpa’s birthday party is next week. Don’t you dare bring that lowly woman with you. She’s beneath you. Don’t embarrass our family!”
She added, “Your grandpa’s getting ready to retire. You can’t mess things up now, or your Uncle Alaric will take everything away. Do you understand?”
Lewis grew irritated at her reminder.
He was well aware,
But Athena wasn’t speaking to him at all. She had even blocked his number. He wasn’t ready to ask her to go with him, especially while she was still mad.
Still, Lewis kept all that to himself.
He simply said in a low voice, “I know.“”
After hanging up, his sharp, handsome face darkened. He let out a deep sigh and tossed his phone onto the couch. For a long moment, he just sat there, silent and tense.

Finally, he stood up, grabbed his jacket, and headed for the door.
When Ned saw him leaving, he quickly followed. “Mr. Belmont, where are you going?” he asked respectfully.
Lewis’s tone was cold. “Home.”
Right now, the only person Lewis could count on was Dion. Using Dion to get Athena back was his only chance.
He didn’t believe that woman could be cruel enough to abandon her son.
Lewis went home to the villa.
Nina looked surprised when she saw him return earlier than usual. “Lewis, you’re home early! I’ll have the maid make dinner-”
“Don’t bother. Is Dion home?”
“He came home but locked himself in his room. I called him a few times, but he wouldn’t answer.”
Nina was upset too. Lewis had been distant lately, and even her biological son had grown cold toward her. Lewis also refused to take her to the party.
These rejections made her feel more and more insecure.
Lewis didn’t say another word. He went straight upstairs to find Dion.
Nina’s face turned grim. She pondered a little and decided to follow him.
Lewis opened the bedroom door and saw Dion lying in bed with the blanket pulled over his head. The boy formed a small bump in the bed.
He walked over and yanked the blanket away.
Dion grabbed it back and shouted angrily, “Go away!”
“Watch your mouth, rascal! I’m your father! You dare to tell me to get out? You’re getting out of hand! What kind of manners did your mom teach you?”
Lewis’s chest tightened in anger. He was already frustrated because of Athena; his son’s attitude only made
it worse.
Dion was never like this before. Ever since Athena left, his temper had spiraled out of control.
This was how Nina had raised him?
