From Betrayal to Brilliance Her Rise to a New Life
Chapter 46 The New Neighbor
The house fell quiet once more.

Athena suddenly realized she hadn’t actually agreed to Zaden’s request, but he acted as if she
had.
She almost laughed.
Well, at least it wasn’t for nothing. He was paying her a good salary.
She sat down slowly and pulled out her phone to look up the condition Zaden had mentioned.
After a while, she finally put the phone down. So that’s why. It all made sense now. She had always wondered why someone like Zaden–powerful, respected, wealthy–lived in such a quiet house with barely any staff. It must have been because of Teri.
Since she had unintentionally agreed to help, she would do her best to guide Teri properly.
The next morning, Athena called Kit and asked him to take her to the hospital to remove her
cast.
After Kate’s treatment, her leg had healed much faster than expected.
Her leg was almost fully healed now. She could finally remove the cast and no longer needed a wheelchair or crutches.
When Athena and Kit stepped outside, they noticed that the neighbors across the street were moving out.
It was an elderly couple who had lived there for many years. Athena had met them a few times before, so they were familiar faces.
The couple stood on the porch, watching as movers carried boxes into the truck.
መ
Kit, ever the gossip, called out, “Hey, are you guys moving?”
The old man smiled. “Yes, someone offered double the price for our house. We’re moving into the city to live with our son and daughter–in–law.”
Kit couldn’t help but mutter, “Who on earth would pay double for an old house when market prices are dropping? Must be out of their mind or just have too much money to waste.”
Athena’s mouth twitched. She suddenly had a very good idea who that “crazy rich person” was.

So that’s what Zaden meant last night when he said she didn’t need to go over–he’d “handle it.”
Apparently, this was how he handled it.
“Mr. Storm, the house has been taken care of. You and Ms. Storm can move in anytime.”
Inside the Storm Group’s sleek downtown office, a well–dressed man stood respectfully in front of Zaden and reported.
Zaden nodded calmly. “Alright. I know.”
The man hesitated, then added, “By the way, I think I saw Ms. Hall earlier. She left the house with another man. Do you want me to look into him?”
Zaden gave Tommy Croft a calm, unreadable glance.
Tommy felt his stomach drop. He quickly realized he had said too much.
He’d thought Zaden liked Athena. After all, ever since that incident years ago, Zaden had shut himself off from emotions. He never showed interest in any woman. So when Tommy noticed him paying attention to Athena, he assumed Zaden was finally falling for someone again.
That was why he had been watching Athena closely, maybe a little too closely. Especially the men around her.
But from the look on Zaden’s face now, it seemed he had overstepped.
“I’ll get back to work,” Tommy blurted, then quickly walked away.
At the hospital, Athena finally had the cast removed from her leg.
After wearing it for a long time, suddenly being able to walk again felt strange. Her steps were stiff and uneven, and every movement reminded her how long it had been since she’d walked normally,
The doctor reminded her not to do any heavy exercise and to rest well for the next few weeks.
As Athena and Kit walked through the underground parking lot, Kit turned to her and said, “I heard you’re planning to give the Belmonts a big surprise at the birthday party?”
Athena sighed helplessly. “I didn’t want it to come to this. But since Lewis refuses to divorce me, I might as well pick the perfect time to end it, when he can’t walk away.”
After all, Bridget never liked her anyway.

If she made a scene at Jerome’s birthday party, there was no way she’d be welcome in that family afterward. Still, that was exactly the point. Even if Lewis tried to resist, he wouldn’t be able to stop it.
