Still, Athena was surprised that Bridget agreed to the divorce so easily. But after a second thought, it made sense.

Bridget never liked her. And with the grand birthday party coming up, it was better to settle things early so nothing embarrassing would happen during the celebration.

She clearly wanted that birthday party to be perfect.

Athena didn’t want to cause a scene on someone else’s special day either. If Lewis agreed to the divorce, that was even better. He was probably eager to make Nina his wife. Jerome’s birthday party would be the perfect chance for Nina to step into the spotlight.

Athena gave a mocking smile.

Lewis loved Nina so much. For eight long years, she had lived as his hidden lover. Now that Lewis had power and status, even Bridget couldn’t control him anymore. It was time for him to give Nina the title she wanted.

After thinking it over, Athena agreed to Bridget’s request and hung up the phone.

She turned to Kit and said calmly, “Lewis’s mom wants me to come over and sign the divorce papers.”

Once she signed the divorce papers today, once the waiting period was over, she could finally give Nina the spot she’d been waiting for.

Kit looked shocked. “They finally agreed? Didn’t Lewis refuse to divorce you before? Are you sure this isn’t some kind of trick?”

Athena smiled faintly. “He loves Nina too much to wait any longer. He’s probably dying to make her official. So no, this isn’t a trick.”

Kit nodded slowly and said, “Then we don’t have to go through the lawsuit anymore.”

“Let’s go,” Athena said. “Drive me to the estate,”

At the Belmont Estate.

“Athena agreed to come; get ready.” Bridget said as she set down her phone and turned toward Lewis, who sat on the sofa.

Lewis frowned. “You know she’s not the kind of woman who gives in easily. Even if you bring her here, it won’t change anything. She’s not someone you can control.”

If that worked, he wouldn’t be in such a mess already.

He knew Athena too well after all these years.

Bridget gave him a sharp look. “Every couple fights, but they always make up in bed. I’ve planned it out. You and Athena just need to have another baby. When Jerome divides the

family shares, your side will have one more seat at the table. Once she’s pregnant, she won’t talk about divorce again.”

Lewis’s tight frown slowly eased.

Have a child with Athena?

That might actually work. Dion is Nina’s son. I and Athena didn’t have a child together.

That isn’t a bad idea.

Lewis had never thought about it before–but now, suddenly, he wanted a child with Athena.

Bridget lived in the Belmont Estate, which was located in one of the most luxurious neighborhoods in all of Vlephia. The area was filled with properties owned by the city’s wealthiest families.

Kit pulled up in front of the estate’s grand iron gates, tapping his fingers lightly on the steering wheel. “Since we’re here, I’m going to stop by and visit my grandpa. Call me if anything happens.”

“I will,” Athena replied.

She stood there watching as Kit’s car disappeared down the long, tree–lined driveway.

Though Kit worked as her assistant, his true identity was far from ordinary. He was actually the heir of the powerful Rices, one of Vlephia’s top elite households. He rarely appeared in public, and most people had no idea who he really was.

Years ago, before Athena’s life fell apart, she had once saved him by accident.

Ever since then, Kit had stayed by her side to repay the favor.

Just then, a familiar car caught her eye.
