Zaden didn’t touch her again. Instead, he asked, “Athena, are you okay? Do you need help?”
Hearing that familiar voice, Athena looked up weakly.
Z–Zaden?
She wanted to answer, but her mind was spinning. Before she could say a word, her body gave out and she collapsed. A strong pair of hands caught her just in time.
Swallowing hard, Athena whispered, “Zaden … take me away from here. Please!”
Zaden had already noticed how hot Athena’s skin was–burning to the touch. He had a rough idea of what might be happening, but there was no time to think about it. Her condition was serious, and she needed help fast.
“I’m taking you to the hospital,” he said firmly.
Zaden bent down and lifted Athena into his arms. Her body was tense, every muscle tight. But as soon as she was pressed against him, she instinctively leaned closer, her lips brushing faintly against his shirt.
Zaden froze.
He had always believed he was indifferent to women–calm, detached, untouched by desire. But at that moment, a strange heat surged through him.
Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to stay composed and carried her toward the car. After settling Athena gently into the passenger seat, he got behind the wheel and sped away.
Athena sat slumped against the seat, murmuring and groaning in discomfort. Her face was flushed, her breathing uneven. The sound made Zaden’s suspicion even stronger–she had been drugged.
When he saw her earlier near the Belmont estate, he’d already guessed she had gone back there.
Even in the Belmont estate, she’d been ambushed. Lewis really had no shame.
Within minutes, they reached the hospital. By then, Athena had completely lost consciousness. Zaden jumped out of the car, opened the passenger door, and leaned in to carry her out.
But before he could even touch her, Athena suddenly clung to him like an octopus.

Her arms wrapped tightly around his neck as she pulled him toward her.
Then he felt it–her lips pressed softly against his.
Zaden froze, his breath catching in his throat.
Athena had no idea what she was doing. Everything came from the effects of the drug running through her veins. If she were awake, she would never have dared.
But right now, in her feverish haze, touching him felt like finding water in a desert.
She wanted more.
Zaden’s mind went blank. For several long seconds, he didn’t move, simply letting her kiss him clumsily and desperately. When she bit the corner of his lip, pain snapped him back to reality.
He gently pried her arms off and whispered in a low, hoarse voice, “Athena, you need to calm down.”
Athena snapped back to her senses the moment she heard Zaden’s voice. When she saw the cut on the corner of his lip, it felt like a bucket of cold water had been poured over her.
I had bitten Zaden.
Oh, crap!
What on earth had I done?
Athena bit her tongue hard, forcing herself to stay awake. She couldn’t let the drug control her anymore. This had to stop.
Zaden steadied his breathing and said calmly, “We’re at the hospital. Can you walk? Do you want me to help you or carry you?”
“I can walk!” Athena said quickly.
She got out of the car. The second her feet hit the ground, she realized how bad her leg was. Jumping from the second floor had injured it worse than she thought. Her knee gave out.
She nearly fell flat on her face, completely ungraceful and embarrassed.
Zaden had been watching her closely. Seeing her stumble, he immediately stepped forward to
catch her.
They arrived at a private hospital owned by the Storm Group.
