Chapter 51 The Truth Revealed
Zaden sighed. “Don’t overthink it. Athena was drugged.”
He paused, then added, “She wasn’t in her right mind. She couldn’t control herself.”
“What?” Harriet’s eyes went wide.

“It might’ve been Lewis,” Zaden continued. “I found her outside of the estate. She was in terrible shape.”
“What!” Harriet’s voice shot through the hallway. “That jerk!”
Her fists clenched as she growled, “Is he even human? How could he drug Athena? I’m going to drag him to the court!”
Zaden stayed calm. “They’re legally married. Even if you report it, the chances of winning aren’t high.”
“Marriage is no excuse!” Harriet snapped. “Forcing someone is still rape–even if it’s your spouse!”
Zaden stayed calm, his voice level. “Lewis is a Belmonts. He’s got a full legal team behind him. You’re no match for that.” He continued without emotion, “In reality, it’s hard to get evidence. Even if you file charges, the chance of winning is very low. You know that.”
His words hit Harriet like a slap. He didn’t sugarcoat anything.
Her anger drained away, replaced by helpless frustration. She knew Zaden was right. Marriage had become a shield for men like Lewis–a free pass to do whatever they wanted without facing real consequences.
At worst, the court would just call for mediation.
How ridiculous. How unfair. Harriet let out a deep sigh. The thought of Lewis walking free after what he’d done made her sick.
Just then, the doctor walked out of the emergency room. Harriet rushed forward. “Doctor,
how’s Athena?”
The doctor checked the report and said, “Ms. Hall’s condition has stabilized. She has a minor muscle strain in her leg. We’ve treated it. She’s going to be fine.”
Then the doctor gave Zaden a long look before adding cautiously, “Mr. Storm, that kind of drug can be very harmful. Please don’t use it again. Ms. Hall is still young; her body can’t handle it.”

Harriet froze for a second, then burst out laughing at the doctor words.
Oh, come on!
Did the doctor seriously think Zaden had done this to Athena?
Zaden’s glare turned icy, sharp as a knife. Harriet instantly shut her mouth.

Harriet quickly waved her hands and explained, “Wait, no, you’ve got it wrong! We’re Athena’s friends. She was drugged by someone. Zaden just brought her here for help. He had nothing to do with it.”
The doctor blinked, then nodded in sudden understanding.
She had assumed Athena’s condition was the result of some wild, reckless game. It was typical for the wealthy to push limits without caring what their partner body could handle.
Feeling embarrassed, the doctor smiled awkwardly. “I see. Well, you can go in and see Ms. Hall now. I’ll leave you to it.”
Inside the hospital room, Athena was awake.
She lay there staring blankly at the ceiling. Her mind was a mess, flashes of memory mixing together.
Her negotiation with Bridget, Lewis’s attempt to violate her, and Zaden’s face when he came to her rescue and brought her here.
“Athena, how are you feeling?”
Harriet’s loud voice pulled her back to reality. Athena turned her head toward her and saw Zaden standing quietly behind.
The room fell silent for a moment. The air between them felt heavy and awkward.
Athena hesitated, forcing herself not to think about what had happened. Then she looked at Zaden sincerely, “Mr. Storm, thank you for everything you did today”
Zaden’s expression stayed calm. “You’re welcome.”
Harriet sat down by the bed, worry written all over her face. “What happened? How did Lewis manage to trap you like that? What did they do to you?”
Athena let out a weary sigh. “Bridget tricked me. She said Lewis had agreed to the divorce and asked me to come back to sign the papers.”

At this point, Athena couldn’t even bring herself to call her mother–in–law.
She gave a bitter laugh. “I thought maybe she didn’t want to make a scene at the birthday party, so I went. Turns out, they had planned a whole setup for me.”
Harriet’s jaw dropped. She was at a loss for words. “You’re telling me Lewis’s mother drugged you just so you’d get pregnant again and be tied to that jerk for life?”
