The second the call connected, Lewis’s furious voice burst through the line. He sounded like a man who had just been humiliated.
Zaden gave a soft chuckle. “Mr. Belmont, your wife goes missing and you come running to me? Don’t you think that’s ridiculous?”
“Cut the act! I checked the cameras. You took Athena away! Where is she?”
Athena couldn’t stay silent. Her voice was cold and sharp. “Lewis, stop making me sick. What you and your mother did today was already against the law. I’m keeping the right to press charges. And let me make this clear. I’m filing for divorce. I’ll see you in court.”
Lewis’s breath caught. He seemed stunned by her hard stance.
For a long moment, there was nothing. Then his angry voice came back, louder than before. “You’re suing me?”
“That’s right.” Athena’s tone was icy. “I’m not asking for your opinion. I’m informing you.”
She let out mocking laughter. “Now you and Nina can run off into the sunset together. Congratulations.”
Athena didn’t wait for him to respond.
She directly hung up the call, blocked his number, and deleted him in one sweep. When she was done, she suddenly realized the phone in her hand wasn’t hers.
A little embarrassed, she looked over at Zaden and handed it back.
“Hmm
…
sorry about that. I made the decision for you. Lewis will probably hold a grudge now. Honestly, it’s better if you don’t deal with him at all.”
Zaden gave a soft chuckle and nodded, almost affectionately. “Alright.”
Athena glanced outside. The day had slipped by, and Zaden had stayed with her the entire time. They’d even talked for hours, and she hadn’t felt a shred of unease, even in a stranger’s place.
Maybe it was because Zaden gave off a sense of safety. She wasn’t nervous at all.

Just then, the doorbell rang. Zaden walked over and opened the door. A woman in a business suit stood outside, her hair neatly tied back. She looked older, polished, and professional.
She handed him a bag with a respectful smile. “Mr. Storm, here are the things you asked for. Since I wasn’t sure about Ms. Hall’s size, I bought a few standard options, along with some basic essentials.”
“Alright, you can leave now,” Zaden replied casually, taking the bag before closing the door.
He carried it over and passed it to Athena.
She’d already overheard enough to know what was inside and guessed the woman must be his assistant.
Peeking inside, she spotted brand–new underwear and clothes.
Her cheeks burned instantly.
These things were personal, far too personal. But at least Zaden had sent a female assistant to handle it. That small detail made Athena realize he was actually very thoughtful.
Zaden stood up. “I’ll head out now.”
Athena waved. “Drive safe.”
Zaden slid into his car when his phone buzzed again. He glanced at the screen–it was his mother.
“What is it?” he asked flatly.
“Zaden! I set you up on a blind date, and you just walked out halfway. What’s that supposed to mean? Do you even respect me as your mother?” Her voice burned with anger.
“Yes,” Zaden answered calmly, his expression unchanged.
“Fine! I won’t argue. Tell me, how do you feel about Ms. Jynn? If you’re okay with her, I’ll visit her family tomorrow.”
Zaden took a slow breath and rubbed his forehead. “You don’t have to do that.”
“What do you mean? Do you plan to stay single forever? You’ve avoided women all your life, then somehow ended up with a child out of nowhere. Do you know how hard I worked to smooth things over with everyone? Once you get married, we can finally send Teri away—”
Zaden’s face darkened. His voice cut sharp and firm. “I will never send her away. And you don’t

Without waiting for her reply, he hung up.
