Harriet stepped in front of Athena, blocking Lewis from getting any closer.

With disgust written all over her face, she snapped, “Lewis, that’s enough. Go enjoy life with that homewrecker and stop bothering Athena. We’ll see you in court next week!”

Good thing she had followed Athena here. Otherwise, who knew how far this jerk would go?

Harriet didn’t bother being polite to Lewis.

After everything he’d done to Athena, she despised him to her core. If it weren’t for the setting, she would’ve taught him a lesson to vent for Athena.

By now, Athena was almost at the door.

Lewis panicked and tried to shove Harriet aside. Before he could touch Athena, someone grabbed his wrist.

He looked up–and met a pair of cold, mocking eyes.

Lewis’s face darkened, his eyes bloodshot. He gritted his teeth and shouted, “Zaden! Move! You trying to steal my wife now?”

Zaden’s expression was calm, and his voice was steady. “Harriet’s my cousin; it’s my job to protect her. Mr. Belmont, if your wife ran off, that’s because you did something wrong. Don’t take your guilt out on my cousin.”

Harriet couldn’t help but smirk to herself.

Nice one, Zaden. That hit Lewis right where it hurt.

Of course, she knew Zaden wasn’t really defending her–he was doing it for Athena. He just didn’t want Lewis going after her again and used Harriet as an excuse.

But she didn’t mind. Not at all.

Lewis caught the faint look of contempt in Zaden’s eyes, and his face darkened. Zaden’s words were calm, almost casual, but they tore open the truth Lewis didn’t want to face.

Athena was gone. Completely gone.

Zaden reached out his hand. “Teri, let’s go home.”

Teri ran over and grabbed her father’s hand, then walked out with him.

Harriet glanced one last time at the chaos behind them–the Belmonts were in complete disarray. She smirked coldly. Serves Lewis right. He had many things to answer to.

Even if Lewis and Nina ended up getting married, there was no way their relationship would ever be something anyone respected. Everyone would still look down on them.

Harriet looked away and left with her cousin.

When she reached the door, she realized Athena and Zaden were already gone. Only a sleek black car parked quietly by the curb.

It was Kit. He hadn’t left yet.

Harriet opened the door and slid in. “Where’s Athena?”

Kit rested one hand on the steering wheel. “Someone drove her home. She told me to wait for you.”

“Fine,” Harriet said, quickly giving him her address.

The car started moving smoothly down the road. As they drove, Harriet couldn’t help sneaking a glance at Kit.

He leaned back in the seat, relaxed and confident. A few strands of hair fell over his forehead. Every movement carried that effortless elegance that only someone born into wealth had. He was strikingly handsome.

Honestly, he was probably just as handsome as Zaden.

And when it came to family background, the two were equally matched.

Perfect! Playing matchmaker for Athena and Zaden is gonna be a nightmare.

Then a teasing voice broke her train of thought. “Haha, if you’re trying to go after me, you’ll have to get in line. You’ve got plenty of competition.”
