Athena wondered what Kit meant by her and Zaden having a moment. Wasn’t Harriet there too?

Kit’s expression darkened as a thought occurred to him, his brow furrowing deeply.

He sighed and said, “Zaden isn’t right for you. Even though he’s much better than Lewis and would be a decent choice, you two aren’t compatible.”

Seeing him getting more and more ridiculous, Athena quickly cut him off.

“Enough! Stop talking nonsense. I don’t have room for romance right now–only thoughts of a better future. Don’t try playing matchmaker.”

She acted completely indifferent, as if she had no romantic feelings for Zaden.

Kit stared at Athena for a moment. She met his gaze without any guilt, seeming to prove she was telling the truth.

After a moment, Kit said, “Alright, as long as you know what you’re doing.”

He lowered his eyes. “About your divorce this time, if you had let me use the Rices‘ influence, it would have been resolved much earlier.

“Fortunately, things went smoothly anyway. Zaden must have stepped in to help. Just don’t get too carried away and fall for him because of it!”

Athena realized that Kit was also suggesting that Zaden had helped.

So what exactly had Zaden done to help her? Her curiosity deepened.

Actually, Athena wasn’t completely oblivious to Zaden’s care for her. But she didn’t dare to think about it romantically.

With his status, what woman couldn’t he have?

Of course he wouldn’t be interested in her. So she attributed everything to Teri’s influence.

Zaden helped her purely because of Teri.

Thinking of this, she couldn’t help but snort softly. “Did I waste my breath earlier? He helped me because of Teri. I can help treat Teri, so that’s why he stepped in to help me. There’s absolutely no other meaning behind it.”

Kit frowned deeply. When he first met Zaden, he didn’t know that he was actually the man Maya had dated before. But after finding out these past few days, his whole mood had soured.

He was also worried that Athena might get tangled up in their affairs. That was why he was trying every possible way to warn her.

Now seeing that she apparently didn’t have any romantic feelings for Zaden, he could relax a little.

Kit sighed and asked, “Athena, when are you planning to return to the Rices? My father has arranged everything–there won’t be any more obstacles.”

Athena froze for a moment. Then her brow furrowed as her gaze drifted into the distance. Her eyes filled with complex emotions.

After a long while, she said softly, “Let me wait a bit longer.”

Kit didn’t push her further. He smiled and then said, “If you need anything, just call me anytime.”

“Got it. I won’t hesitate to ask.”

Kit hit the gas and the car quickly disappeared from view.

Athena stood there in a daze for a while, watching until his car was out of sight. Her relationship with Kit was something ordinary people would never guess.

Thinking about all those messy complications gave her a headache.

She didn’t want to think about it anymore and turned to go back inside. But she was surprised to see Harriet pressed against the panoramic window staring at her. Zaden was standing behind her. Both of their expressions looked unreadable.

Athena opened the door and walked in. “What are you two looking at?”

Harriet came forward with curiosity. She snorted, then asked bluntly, “What exactly is your relationship with the Rices‘ second son? Spill it right now!”

After saying this, Harriet complained. “Kit drove off a while ago and you’re still standing there looking all wistful and reluctant to let him go.”

Athena immediately realized they had seen her interaction with Kit just now. But judging from Harriet’s words, they apparently hadn’t heard what they were talking about.

With such thick glass between them, unless they had superhuman hearing, how could they possibly have heard anything?

Athena glanced at Zaden and saw that he was also staring at her.
