Chapter 83 Unanswered Questions
Could Zaden have done something behind the scenes to help with the divorce?
Ugh!
That brat Harriet! Why did she leave them hanging?

Athena had no choice but to look up at Zaden. His face showed no emotion. After catching her questioning gaze, he said flatly, “She’s drunk.”
Athena was speechless. Since Zaden had said that, how could she press for answers?
She would have to wait until Harriet sobered up tomorrow. Then she could question her about what had happened.
Teri kept nodding off, but forced herself to stay awake with Athena.
Seeing this, Athena stood up. “Teri, let me take you upstairs for a bath and then to bed.”
Teri stretched out her little arms, and Athena picked her up.
The two headed upstairs together.
In the living room, only Zaden and Kit remained. Harriet was still passed out drunk.
Kit leaned back in his chair. His eyes narrowed as his gaze fell on Zaden. There was a hint of scrutiny and assessment in his stare.
Zaden noticed his stare and returned it coldly. His eyes were completely emotionless, as if they
were strangers.
Suddenly, Kit spoke out of the blue. “Maya asked me about you.”
Zaden’s face remained completely calm–not even a flicker in his eyes. After a moment, he said quietly, “I’m doing fine.”
Kit heard his response and couldn’t help but smile.
He reached out and tapped the table. “Nothing personal–just telling you not to mess with Athena, or you’ll regret it later.”
This was clearly a warning, but Zaden didn’t take Kit’s threat seriously at all.
His posture remained just as arrogant. He raised an eyebrow and said, “Even though you’re part of the Rices, I don’t take orders from you.”

Kit wasn’t surprised that Zaden knew his identity. After all, he knew Zaden would investigate him. Uncovering his connection to the Rices was inevitable.
The two men stared at each other, silent tension filling the air.
After a moment, Kit looked away. He said casually, “Maya will be back sometime this year.”
After saying this, he didn’t add anything more. He stood up. “I’m heading out.”
When the sound of the door closing echoed, Harriet suddenly shot up from the table.
“Holy crap!” She clenched her fists. Her face was full of indignation. “He actually had the nerve to threaten you! Telling you to stay away from Athena. Who does he think he is! That’s too arrogant! What a jerk!”
Harriet’s cheeks were flushed red, making her look radiant. Her eyes no longer held the drunken haze from before. Instead, they showed clarity brought on by her excitement.
Zaden snapped back to attention and turned to look at her. “You weren’t actually drunk?”
“I sobered up when Kit started talking, okay? I didn’t move because I wanted to hear what he had to say. I never expected him to be so arrogant!”
“No way! We can’t just let this slide.”
Hearing this, Zaden laughed. “Can’t let it slide—what exactly are you planning to do?”
“What else can we do?”
Harriet slammed the table. Her tone was absolutely certain as she said, “Of course we’re going to ignore Kit’s words and boldly pursue Athena! She’s a free woman now. The timing couldn’t be better!”
Just then, Athena came downstairs.
She noticed Kit was gone and asked in surprise, “Where’s Kit?”
“He already left,” Harriet said.
He left? Without even saying goodbye? Athena thought. Then she said, “I’ll go check outside.”
With that, she turned and walked outside.
Harriet immediately rushed over to Zaden’s side in a panic. “Did you see that! Look how much Athena cares about that guy. She discovered he was gone and ran after him! If you don’t make your move soon, you definitely won’t be able to compete!”
