He knew his mother had never liked Teri. She had brought up sending Teri away multiple times before. Not only that, she also wanted to interfere with his marriage prospects. She was strictly controlling his life.
Did he really need to get married to make her stop?
“Daddy… “A cautious voice came from behind him.
Zaden snapped back to attention. He turned to look at Teri in the back seat. His voice was gentle as he asked softly, “What is it, Teri?”
“Are you going to send me away?”
His expression hardened. Beverly’s words earlier had left Teri with psychological trauma. She now had a look of fear and terror on her face. She was clearly scared that she would be sent
away.
After a moment, Zaden said quietly, “You won’t be sent away.”
Although he had no memory or feelings for Teri’s mother, Teri had grown up with him since she was little. Their father–daughter bond ran deep.
No matter what happened, he would never send Teri away.
Teri lowered her head to think for a moment. Then she looked up with an adorable smile, “Daddy, can you let me live with Athena? That way I won’t interfere with you marrying other
women.”
Zaden was stunned.
He wanted to say something but stopped himself.
Athena had already moved out. If they wanted to see each other in the future, he could only call ahead and arrange visits. There was no way he could let Teri live with Athena.
In the end, Zaden said nothing.
He simply said flatly, “Don’t let your imagination run wild. You barely know Athena, and I could never let you live with her.”
Hearing this, Teri’s shoulders immediately drooped.

Before meeting Athena, being sent away had terrified her. Now she wasn’t only unafraid–she was willing to leave on her own terms if it meant casing her father’s burden.
She never expected to be rejected. She was extremely disappointed.
Athena went for her job interview.
Her professor had said everything was already arranged. She just needed to go through the normal interview process.
After being a full–time housewife for eight years, starting work again made Athena feel nervous.
Harriet texted her encouragement, “Athena, don’t be scared! You were so talented back in the day! Even though you’re switching specialties now, I’m sure this won’t be a problem for you!”
Seeing Harriet praise her so highly, Athena smiled.
Harriet certainly had faith in her.
But she did find herself gradually calming down. Harriet’s absolute confidence was helping.
Athena replied, “I’m confident about the assessment. There shouldn’t be any problem.”
Harriet immediately responded, “Of course not! Even if you fail, my mom’s got your back! She’s totally protective of you!”
Athena laughed.
Right, she still had Kate as her backup at the hospital.
When she reached the HR office, Athena learned that someone was in the office. So she sat down to wait patiently.
Inside the office.
“Ms. Jynn, everything has been arranged from my superior. You can officially start tomorrow. If you need anything, just let me know.”
The hospital director, Dexter Vale, was all smiles. He was respectful and courteous.
Rachel had been specially recommended by the Storms. He’d been given strict instructions to treat her well.
Rumor had it she was Zaden’s future wife.

That would make her the future boss’s wife. So naturally she couldn’t be offended.
Rachel wore a kind smile. She said gently, “You’re too kind, Mr. Vale. Let’s just follow the standard procedures.”
As they were talking, there was a knock on the door.
“Mr. Vale, the doctor interviewing today has arrived.”
