Alicia dreamed that Charles caught her secretly drawing him while he was asleep. He thought she was a weirdo and kicked her out.
With nowhere to go. Alicia got hauled back by the Lawrence family. When Charles realized she wasn’t his savior, he teamed up with the Lawrences, leaving her totally cornered. In the end, just like her past life, she died alone in that dark basement.
Alicia woke up with a jolt from the nightmare, lying in bed and trying to catch her breath for a long while before she finally calmed down. When she checked her phone, she was shocked to see it was already ten o’clock. She’d actually slept straight through to ten.
She hurried out of bed. The fridge was empty, so she decided to grab breakfast outside and then swing by the supermarket to restock on groceries.
After putting the groceries away, Alicia suddenly remembered that Sasha was having surgery that day. Without thinking, she rushed off to the hospital.
When Hank saw her walk in, he looked genuinely pleased. “Hey, Alicia.”
“Hey.” Alicia nodded. “Did the doctor mention what time the surgery’s starting?”
“It’s scheduled for this afternoon,” Hank replied.
“Alright, guess we need to sort out all the forms now, huh? Let’s go pay the fees first,” Alicia said, heading straight for the cashier.
But Hank suddenly hesitated, looking worried. “I haven’t pulled together all the surgery money yet. Could you please ask Doctor Johnson to wait a few more days? I swear, I’ll pay the rest as soon as I can.”
Alicia kept her gaze steady on him. “Like I said, I’m paying for the surgery.”
Hank tried to say something, but Alicia had already spun around and walked off. She headed straight to the billing desk and told the staff, “Cover Sasha Grant’s hospital bill–and her surgery fee for this afternoon. I’ll pay everything now.”
The staff got right to work, and Alicia swiped her card in one smooth motion.
Hank watched as she swiped away 100 thousand dollars like it was nothing. He felt a lump in his throat, and his heart felt warm. He bit his lip and whispered, “Alicia, why are you being so nice to me?”
Alicia replied coolly, “Didn’t I already say? It’s just a deal. You’ll still have to work for me in the future.”
But Hank felt even more moved. ‘She’s just saying that so I won’t feel bad, isn’t she?‘ he thought. I’ve only done a few small things for her, and she’s broke, kicked out by her family.
‘Yet she just handed over 100 thousand dollars for my sister’s surgery like it’s nothing.
‘Alicia has saved my sister and helped my mom. She’s my savior.‘

Chapter 104
He made a silent vow to himself From now on, no matter what Alicia asked of him, he’d do it. Even if it meant laying down his life for her, he’d do it without hesitation.
CAY)
He was dead set on paying her back ASAP He didn’t even know how she got her hands on so much money. If she had to borrow it, just imagine the rumors people would start about her.
He knew all too well how hard it was to borrow money. When Fiona got sick, he had tried asking relatives for help, but they all came up with excuses not to lend him a dime. Some even made fun of him.
Just thinking that Alicia might have gone through all that too just tore him up inside. No matter what, he had to pay her back as soon as possible.
When Alicia saw that he wasn’t saying anything, just getting a bit teary–eyed, she spoke up softly, “There’s really not much risk with this surgery, so don’t be afraid. Afterward, just make sure to look after her carefully and watch for any signs that the body doesn’t accept it. Follow whatever the doctor says, alright?”
Okay Hank nodded.
I’m going to check on Mrs. Grant and Sasha.” Alicia thought it made sense to visit since she was already there.
Hank went along with her.
Sasha looked even skinnier and paler than the last time Alicia saw her, but at least she seemed a lot more Eively.
When Sasha saw Alicia, her eyes brimmed with envy. “This girl’s so beautiful. If I were healthy, I could dress up and look just as pretty as her, she thought.
Fiona’s eyes lit up at the sight of Alicia, her smile full of warmth. “Hi, Alicia. It’s been so long since you’ve come to see me, you know—I’ve kind of missed having you around. Could you stay a bit longer this time?”
Alicia couldn’t help but pull a face at that. ‘Missed me? For real?‘ she wondered.
Truth be told, they’d barely spoken before. They’d only met once, really.
Instead of saying anything, Alicia just gave a small smile.
Hank said, “Mom, Alicia’s really busy. Let’s not hold her up.”
Fiona shot Hank a look when she heard what he said. “Let’s not hold her up? Alicia’s your close friend, and she’s done so much for our family. From now on, I’m treating her like my own daughter. Why are you making us sound so distant?”
Hank furrowed his brow, but didn’t argue. He simply said, “Mom, Alicia paid Sasha’s surgery fee. We can have the surgery on schedule.”
Fiona’s eyes lit up even more. “Really? So does that mean Sasha’s going to get better soon?”
Before Hank could even open his mouth, Fiona grabbed Alicia’s hand, gushing, “Alicia, you’re such a kind soul. You treat our Hank so well. He’s got a thick skull sometimes, but don’t you worry–I’m here to whip him into shape, bit by bit.”

Alicia gently pulled her hand away from Fiona. ‘Why do I even bother explaining? Clearly, Mrs. Grant still thinks there’s something between me and Hank,‘ she sighed inwardly.
So she had to repeat herself, “Mrs. Grant, Hank and I are just friends. Helping each other out is what friends.
do.”
With that, Alicia didn’t stick around to hear more from Fiona. She strolled over to Sasha, flashed her a sweet smile, and said, “Hang in there!”
