Chapter 127
Chapter 127
The car crashed hard. Aaron and the two guys in the back were mostly fine, but Alicia, who’d been squashed into the gap between the seats, got thrown into the front seat. Alicia’s head was spinning. She felt so dizzy that she almost blacked out.
The car screeched to a halt. Aaron spotted two men getting out of the vehicle blocking their way, heading over toward them.
Aaron was freaking out. He swallowed nervously and said to the guys in the back, “One of you get out and talk to them. Just let them know we don’t care about money. We just want them to move their car fast.”
One of the guys in the back immediately responded, reached out to push the door open, and was just about to get out when Charles rushed over and grabbed the door before he could step out.
The guy scrambled to block Charles. “Sir, what do you want?” he stammered.
Charles kicked him to the ground, yanked the car door open, and looked inside. His eyes instantly spotted Alicia, tied up and shoved under the seat.
Rage boiled over in Charles’s icy eyes.
Aaron didn’t know who Charles was, but seeing Alicia get spotted by a stranger made his heart leap into his throat.
He scrambled out of the car, desperate to step in, but Charles was already bending down to help Alicia.
Even Aaron, clueless as he was, realized this guy was after Alicia.
He couldn’t let Charles take her away.
Aaron stepped forward, reaching out to stop Charles. “Who the hell are you? What do you want?” he demanded.
Charles shot him a cold look. “Get lost.”
Aaron tried to grab Charles again, but Harvey grabbed him and slammed him down to the ground.
Seeing Aaron get knocked down, the two guys with him jumped in, ready to throw down.
The guy still crammed in the car lashed out with a kick at Charles.
Charles slid out of the way, grabbed the guy, and yanked him out of the car. The guy hit the ground with a thud. Harvey stepped in, grabbed him, and dragged him away, so he wouldn’t get in the way of Charles saving
Alicia.
Charles gently pulled Alicia up, his hand swiftly reaching to rip the tape from her mouth.
Aaron, heart pounding as he scrambled to his feet, panicked and yelled, “Stop him.”

Chapter 127
The guy Charles had knocked down earlier staggered back up with a wild look, somehow whipping out a dagger and charging straight at Charles.
Charles had just ripped the tape off Alicia’s mouth when she cried out in panic, “Watch out!”
He didn’t even glance back. His body started to twist away, but halfway through, he stopped and then threw himself back in front of Alicia.
If he dodged, the blade would have gone right into her.
If he tried to drag her out of danger, with her still bound, she’d just get pulled straight out of the car and end up hurt.
He’d rather take the stab himself. There was no way he was letting Alicia suffer even a scratch.
Still, Charles twisted just in time. The blade glanced off his side, slicing through his shirt and leaving just a scratch. It was nothing deep. He barely felt it.
Harvey didn’t hesitate. He slammed his foot into the guy, knocking him flat on the ground. The dagger went skittering across the pavement.
Harvey pulled out his phone and called the cops still at the Lawrence residence. “We got her. Come out here and haul these punks in for questioning.”
After finishing the call, Harvey rushed over to steady Charles. “Are you alright, Charles?”
Charles clutched his side and said, “Free Alicia first.”
Harvey nodded, grabbed the fallen dagger, and quickly cut through the ropes tying Alicia.
Alicia tore off the ropes, jumped out of the car, and rushed straight to Charles, her eyes brimming with tears. “Mr. Yates, I’m so sorry.”
She was truly terrified. If anything actually happened to Charles, she knew the Yates family would never let her go.
The guilt gnawed at her. This was supposed to be her own battle with the Lawrence family, but she’d dragged Charles into the mess, and now he’d ended up hurt because of her.
Charles saw that Alicia was on the verge of tears, so he shook his head with a gentle smile. “Don’t worry. It’s just a flesh wound.”
But Alicia couldn’t tear her eyes away from the blood seeping through his clothes.
It was the middle of winter, and he was wearing thick layers. Yet blood was still soaking through them and dripping onto the pavement. Alicia’s heart clenched. She refused to believe this was just a minor injury.
“We need to get you to the hospital,” Alicia said urgently.
She supported Charles while Harvey rushed to start the car.

Chapter 127
Right then, the cops and the whole Lawrence family came out of the house.
When Alicia came into view, everyone in the Lawrence family wore a different expression.

Hugh’s mind spun with shock and rage. He thought, ‘Aaron can’t do anything right! I laid out everything, even went so far as to get Alicia’s death certificate and she was still found. Where the hell did it all fall apart?
He just couldn’t wrap his head around it.
But right now, Hugh couldn’t start scolding Aaron. He just played dumb, acting all clueless as he widened his eyes in fake shock. “Alicia? How is she here?”
Adam’s face lit up as he rushed toward Alicia, nearly stumbling in his excitement. “Alicia, you’re alive! You’re really alive!”
Alicia gave Adam a cold glance and didn’t bother to respond, her indifference written all over her face.
Harvey cut in, his tone sharp, “Doctor Lawrence, move aside. Can’t you see someone’s hurt here?”
Adam stepped aside. Alicia and Harvey helped Charles into the car.
Harvey called out to Kolby, “You handle things here. I’m taking him to the hospital, and I’ll bring Miss Lawrence to the police station to cooperate with the investigation.”
With that, the three of them drove off.
Tiffany glared at the car as it sped away, simmering with a mix of anger and hatred. She thought, ‘Why does it always end up like this?
‘Everything was finally going smoothly. I was this close to becoming Mr. West’s student.
‘Alicia was already locked up. How did she manage to escape?’
