But Tiffany being uncooperative was such a pain. Just like last time, she suddenly acted like she was passing
out.
So Alicia decided to hand her another painting. With Tiffany’s show-off personality, Alicia knew she’d definitely post it online. And as for the painting, Alicia made sure to leave her mark right on it.
Kolby thought for a moment before saying, “Aaron Lawrence claims he was the one who kidnapped you. Do you actually believe that?”
Alicia just shook her head with a lost expression. “I honestly don’t know. Maybe… can I meet Aaron? I want to ask him myself. Why would he even want to kidnap me?”
Kolby considered for a moment and nodded. “Alright.”
Alicia was taken into an interrogation room.
The room was tightly shut, with not a single window looking outside. The only window was set into one of the walls, connecting straight to the surveillance room.
From inside, it was impossible to see who or what was on the other side of the glass, but the folks in the monitoring room could watch every move happening in that little room.
Ever since Aaron confessed to kidnapping Alicia, he’d been kept here.
He couldn’t see daylight, his phone was confiscated, and he had lost all sense of time. Every moment trapped inside left him feeling isolated and restless.
The door to the interrogation room clicked open, and Aaron jerked his head up, thinking for a moment it might be Hugh coming to rescue him. But it was Alicia who walked in instead.
Seeing Alicia, he instantly looked down at the floor, too nervous to meet her eyes.
Alicia sat down across from him, keeping quiet, eyes fixed on him, her silence adding pressure to the room.
Aaron could feel his nerves on edge under Alicia’s intense stare, and finally had no choice but to look back at her.
She broke the silence. “So you admitted that you’re the one who kidnapped me?”
Aaron didn’t answer, so Alicia asked again, staring straight at him, “Then why did you kidnap me?”
Aaron jerked his head up, blurting out, “You know exactly why…”
But halfway through, he caught himself and shut his mouth. He remembered that everything he did and said in this interrogation room was being watched by the cops.
He couldn’t let anything slip. He had to keep Tiffany and Hugh out of this, and definitely couldn’t drag the Lawrence family into it. As long as Hugh was safe and nothing happened to the Lawrence family, he’d be able

to get out of here soon.
Through gritted teeth, he said. “Kidnapping? Don’t be ridiculous. You just never behave. I was just teaching you a lesson for Mom and Dad.
Alicia listened to him trailing off and then suddenly switched gears with a faint smile. ‘Do you even realize who you hurt today?
Aaron looked up at her.
Alicia said in a light tone, “Charles Yates, the one who runs the Yates family.”
She knew exactly how to shatter a person’s mental defenses. Aaron was clinging to the Lawrence family like they were his safety net, convinced he’d walk out of here as long as they were okay.
But she was ready to crush that hope. She wanted him to understand that even the Lawrence family couldn’t get him out of this one.
She had no doubt that once Aaron learned who he’d actually hurt, despair would hit him full force. After all, even the Lawrence family wouldn’t be able to lay a finger on Charles.
Just as she expected, Aaron’s eyes flew wide, disbelief written all over his face. “What? Charles Yates? You mean the head of the Yates family? No way! Why would someone like him get involved with you? That’s crazy!”
Alicia watched him lose his cool, a soft, knowing smile tugging at her lips. “Suit yourself. If you don’t want to spill. then have it your way.”
With that, she rose to her feet and strode out.
Kolby had been listening in on their conversation from outside. He turned to Harvey and said, “Mr. Johnson, Miss Lawrence is really smart.”
Harvey arched an eyebrow at Kolby. “What makes you say so?”
Kolby said, “I don’t think Aaron was the only one involved in the kidnapping, but he’s taking all the blame himself. If we wanted to dig further, it’d be a huge headache and take a lot of time. But Miss Lawrence just said one thing and totally cracked him. I bet he’ll come clean about everything soon.”
Harvey smiled, looking pleased as punch. “She’s definitely smart.”
Right after he finished talking, Alicia walked over.
Alicia turned to Kolby and asked, “Mr. Gould, is there anything else? If not, can I leave now?”
Kolby nodded. “That’s all for now. Please keep your phone on, Miss Lawrence. If there are any updates or if we need your help again, we’ll give you a call.”
Alicia nodded. “Got it.”
After signing the official report, Alicia left the police station with Harvey.

In the car. Harvey asked, puzzled. Why didn’t you tell Mr. Could about Tiffany making you paint? Are you still going son on her?
Alicia looked at Harvey and aid. Think it’d be better if Aaron, after he completely loses it, is the one to spill everything
Harvey paused and then chuckled, “So that’s why you pushed Aaron’s buttons? But Alicia, you know the law doesn’t make exceptions for anyone. Even Charles can’t keep Aaron locked up for long. His injuries aren’t that
serious
Alicia just smiled, her eyes sparkling. “I don’t need long. Two days will be more than enough.”
Harvey watched her, eyebrows slightly raised, genuinely puzzled. “Do you really think Aaron can only last two days”
Alicia blinked, her eyes thoughtful and confident. “Tomorrow is the day Mr. West evaluates the paintings Tiffany and I did. I left Tiffany a little surprise. Once Sweetheart Queen’s true identity is out in the open, Aaron will probably realize there’s no point in holding out any longer.”
Harvey stared at her, genuinely surprised.
He hadn’t expected Alicia to be this meticulous. It was almost intimidating.
He suddenly asked, “I haven’t done anything to piss you off, have I?”
Alicia blinked and then asked, “Do you think I’m scary, Doctor Johnson?”
Harvey gave a dry laugh. “Not at all.”
Alicia smiled softly, “Actually, I’m really just an innocent girl.”
Harvey replied, “Oh, sure, super innocent.”
Alicia blinked, completely at a loss for words.
After Alicia left, everyone in the Lawrence family except Aaron was released and went home.
Tiffany had been secretly freaking out, worried Alicia would spill the beans. She spent ages stressing out, but in the end, the police simply said Alicia claimed she didn’t know who’d kidnapped her.
