Alicia couldn’t help but laugh. “Alright, alright, I won’t bring him next time.”

After saying her goodbyes to the kids, Alicia headed upstairs with Charles. Once they were in the elevator, she still couldn’t hold back her laughter, but she felt a little shy around Charles.
Seeing how hard she was trying to hold it in, Charles said calmly, “If you want to laugh, just go ahead.”
Alicia looked at him seriously. “Really?”
“Even if I said no, could you really stop yourself?” Charles teased.
Alicia shook her head, bursting out in laughter. “I can’t hold it in anymore.”
She laughed all the way upstairs, then hurried to the fridge to grab ingredients and headed straight for the kitchen.
Charles went to change his clothes, washed his hands, and came over to help.
Alicia took charge as the chef, while Charles helped as her sous–chef. Together, they cooked up three dishes and a pot of soup.
Soon, lunch was ready. After eating and taking a short break, Alicia suggested they get back to the painting.
But just then, Charles got a call about work. After hanging up, he looked at Alicia and said, “Looks like we won’t be painting today. Something’s come up, and I need to leave. Next time, okay?”
Alicia nodded. “Alright.”
Charles quickly tidied up and headed downstairs. Kevin came to pick him up.
Once in the car, Charles pulled out a piece of paper and started sketching something.
Kevin drove carefully, since the snow made the roads slippery, so he needed to stay focused.
At a red light, Charles suddenly handed Kevin the paper. “Take a look at this.”
Kevin glanced at it, completely confused. It was covered in sketches of feet, with lines all over the place.
“What kind of dance step is this?” Charles asked.
“Dance step?” Kevin stared at the weird pattern of steps, and then it hit him. “Oh right, that’s that dance that’s been trending this year.”
“Really?” Charles was puzzled.
“Yeah, it’s one of the dances everyone’s crazy about this year. Those are all popular with young people,” Kevin
said.

When Charles heard young people, he started to doubt himself. He reached up and touched his face. “Dol look old
Kevin quickly reassured him, “No way, Mr. Yates. Honestly, you look like you’re still in your twenties.”
Charles shot back, I am in my twenties.”
Kevin hesitated, then said, “Well, aren’t you turning thirty sooner?”
Charles replied, “I’m still only twenty–nine.”
Kevin nodded. “Yeah, you’re still young.”
Charles pressed, “But do I look old to you?”
Kevin reassured him quickly, “Nope, honestly you look really young.”
Charles pulled out his phone, opened the camera, and looked at himself for a while. He decided that he didn’t look old and that his age wasn’t that different from Alicia’s.
It was just that he didn’t keep up with trends online, which made him feel like they lived in different worlds. Looks like he’d better start keeping up with the latest internet trends.
He immediately started looking up that dance and other viral dances. He watched the videos on repeat and even tried copying a few moves in the car.
By the time they reached the office, he turned off his phone and stepped out, looking calm.
Kevin, however, was left in the car feeling totally thrown off by what he had just witnessed.
After Charles left, Alicia was alone in the big house and suddenly felt a bit lonely.
She felt a little silly. ‘What’s wrong with me? He stayed here for one night, and now I’m acting like I can’t live without him? Am I serious?‘
Trying to shake off that weird feeling, she grabbed her paintbrush and paper, ready to draw something, anything.
But nothing came out. Every time she tried to start, all she could see in her mind was Charles’s face.
‘Maybe it’s just because he’s ridiculously hard to draw. He’s a real challenge as a model. No wonder he keeps popping into my head, Alicia muttered to herself. ‘Forget it. I’ll just draw him.
She tried going back to the half–finished portrait of Charles, but as soon as she started, it was obvious something was missing. Without him there, that special spark just wouldn’t come to life.
So, she grabbed a fresh sheet of paper and pulled up the candid photo of Charles she had taken at the hospital. She started sketching from the photo, carefully working on it bit by bit.

Alicia had no idea how long she’d been drawing. It wasn’t until her phone rang that she finally put down her brush She looked up and realized it was already dark outside.
She looked at her sketch, which was starting to resemble the photo. A satisfied smile tugged at her lips as she reached for her phone.
Just before picking up, she noticed the caller ID–it was an international number. She answered right away, “Hello?”
A man’s voice crackled through, speaking in heavily accented Chinese. “Hi, Reborn Soul, this is Fred Baker.”
Alicia blinked in surprise. ‘Wait, that’s the art gallery owner–why is he calling me now? Was there a problem with the painting after he received it?‘ she wondered.
“Hello, Mr. Baker,” Alicia greeted him without hesitation.
“Well, Reborn Soul, finally. I managed to reach you,” Fred said with relief. “That gentleman dropped by again, and this time, he brought a lady with him. She seemed really emotional.”
Alicia was surprised it turned out to be about her. She apologized, “Sorry, my phone was on silent, I missed your call.”
