“Yeah.” Patricia nodded. “From now on, no matter who you’re drinking with, you can’t be reckless like that again. Look at how sick you made yourself this time…”
Patricia kept muttering, but Henry couldn’t stop thinking about what Patricia had said about Bill bringing him home. He wondered, ‘So it really wasn’t Alicia who took me home that night?‘
Suddenly, a wave of panic washed over him. ‘Is she really going to break up with me this time?‘ he thought.
He pulled out his phone and started calling Alicia over and over, but each time, the number was unreachable.
Desperate, he grabbed Patricia’s phone and tried calling Alicia again, but still couldn’t get through.
Patricia watched him and said, “Don’t bother. She’s blocked our whole family.”
Henry’s eyes reddened. “How ruthless she is,” he said, feeling the pain.
Devastated, he ran upstairs.
Patricia wanted to call after him, but in the end, she decided to let him cool off on his own. She thought, ‘Maybe a good night’s sleep will clear his head. What’s so special about Alicia, anyway? Why does he have to be with her?‘
She stayed downstairs, watching TV and sipping her soup.
Henry lay in bed, replaying every single moment he’d shared with Alicia, from the day they met to now.
He thought, a sharp pain stabbing at his chest, ‘I really do love her. How could she be so cold–hearted?
‘Did this all happen because I helped Tiffany? But Tiffany is her sister. Causing such a fuss only ends up hurting herself. I did it for her own good.’
The more he thought about it, the deeper his sadness and anger grew.
‘No way. I need to talk to her and sort this out,‘ Henry insisted to himself.
If she wasn’t at school, he’d head straight to Linen Bay Residences.
Henry didn’t have a place there, but Charles did. Maybe he could get Charles to help him out.
He scrambled for his phone, ready to call Charles right away.
But when he finally pulled up Charles’s contact, his nerve faltered. Charles was always so distant from the family, cold and aloof. None of the younger family members dared mess with him. Henry was no different.
He gathered all his courage, but in the end, he just couldn’t bring himself to make the call.
Henry thought, ‘Whatever. Tomorrow I’ll stake out the entrance at Linen Bay Residences. If Alicia really lives there, there’s no way I won’t run into her eventually.‘

Henry barely slept a wink that night. His dreams were nothing but flashes of all his moments with Alicia, every little memory replaying in his mind. At sunrise, he was already up and out the door, heading straight to Linen Bay Residences to wait for her.
Henry thought he’d gotten up early. Yet, it turned out that Alicia had started her day even earlier than him.
Alicia was up at five, carefully setting the timer on her cereal before slipping into her sportswear and heading out for a morning jog in the fitness park nearby.
No sooner had Alicia made her way to the park than Henry showed up outside the neighborhood.
He was all decked out in a suit today. Usually, he’d just throw on something casual, but he’d ditched the jacket and opted for a dress shirt alone, aiming for a sharp look.
He paced back and forth at the entrance of Linen Bay Residences for half an hour, starting off in high spirits, only to end up shivering and retreating to his car for warmth.
He kept an eye on the steady stream of people passing through the gate, scanning every face, but there was still no sign of Alicia.
After an hour of waiting, Henry had had enough. Never in his life had someone kept him waiting this long.
He was furious, hit the gas, and sped off.
But the moment his car disappeared down the street, Alicia jogged up, drenched in sweat.
She hurried home, grabbed a quick shower, got dressed, packed her cereal and a freshly made sandwich into her lunchbox. Then she headed out for school.
Henry drove off to grab some breakfast, but he just couldn’t let it go. He had to talk to her, no matter what. So he circled back to Linen Bay Residences, still determined to get some answers.
But what Henry didn’t realize was that he and Alicia had just missed each other by a hair.
Meanwhile, at school, Alicia and Sienna were having breakfast when a class rep walked over and announced, “Hey, anyone here who’s into painting or drawing? The school just sent out a notice. At nine sharp, you need to be in the lecture hall. There’s something big to announce.”
Sienna leaned in and whispered, “I heard that Mr. West, that art world legend, is coming over to pick a new student. Alicia, are you ready for this?”
Alicia chuckled and nodded. “I’ve got myself ready, but I have no idea if Mr. West will even notice me.”
Sienna smiled, “Just give it your all. That kind of master is always super strict, so don’t push yourself too hard.”
Alicia nodded. “Yeah, I’ll just do my best.”
After finishing breakfast, they headed to the restroom together. By 8:30, Sienna started nudging Alicia. “Come on. Hurry up!”
Alicia nodded, grabbed her pen and notebook. She paused for a moment and then decided to bring a book

too before heading off to the lecture hall.
She thought she was early, but as soon as she stepped in, the place was already packed. She ended up taking a seat in the very last row.
Luckily, her eyesight was sharp. Even from the last row, she could still see everything going on up on stage.
It was just a little past 8:30, still a while before the event started, so everyone was chatting, buzzing with excitement.
“Did you hear? Mr. West is in Riverdale, and rumor has it he’s here to find a new student,” someone whispered.
“Yeah, I heard. He’s already dropped by a bunch of colleges, and he’s even opening it up to the public. Anyone can just snap a pic of their art and send it to his email,” someone chimed in.
“He’s checked out so many schools, and tons of people from outside have probably sent in their work too. I wonder what kind of student Mr. West is really looking for. With so many submissions, hasn’t a single person caught his eye yet?” someone said.
“Honestly, I bet Mr. West is searching for someone like that Sweetheart Queen online. We probably don’t have a shot. I remember reading an interview where he actually praised her. He must want someone just like that,” another added.
“Chance or no chance, I’m totally going to give it a shot,” someone shrugged. “I’m trying anyway.”
