Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 411

Amelia walked into the restaurant and stopped in her tracks.

There were roses everywhere—twining around the entrance, spilling over a whole wall, bright and impossibly gorgeous. She pulled out her phone and double-checked the address, groaning as realization hit. When Timmy sent her the location, she’d only glanced at the first part of the restaurant’s name—July’s—without noticing the rest. She hadn’t realized this was a lovers’ restaurant, one of the top three date spots in Alson Creek.

Timmy must have made a mistake when he picked it.

But she was already here, and it was too late to turn back now. Taking a deep breath, Amelia walked up to the hostess and gave her reservation number. A server appeared almost instantly, ready to lead her to her table.

“Ms. Sadinton, you reserved private room 102, called ‘Enchanted.’ It’s perfect for two couples on a special night out,” the server said with a practiced smile.

Amelia opened her mouth to explain, but before she could get a word out, the door swung open.

Inside, a thick carpet of rose petals covered the floor. A long square table sat in front of a window with elegant French trim, and just outside was a heart-shaped fountain, bubbling softly. Cupid cherubs were carved into the walls, making the whole place look like something out of a fairy tale.

Amelia just stood there.

If it were just her and Timmy with his two friends, maybe she could have ignored the cheesy romance. But she had also invited a stranger—Selfhelper. Having their first meeting in a place like this? Way too awkward.

She made up her mind on the spot. “Sorry, I’d rather not use the private room. Can we switch to a table in the main dining area?” she said, managing an apologetic smile. “For five people.”

The server looked surprised for a second—who goes on a date with five people?—but recovered quickly. “Of course. There’s a table available in the main room. Just so you know, guests in the main room will be part of tonight’s event.”

“That’s fine,” Amelia said. Anything was better than eating under Cupid’s stone glare.

She confirmed the table, then texted Timmy to let him know about the change. She told him to bring his friends straight into the main dining area. Then she messaged Selfhelper.

The reply came quickly: [Okay.]

Amelia sent another message: [What are you wearing? So I can recognize you when you come in.]

Selfhelper: [You’ll know me when you see me.]

Amelia stared at her phone. Was this someone she already knew? Maybe an old friend of the Sadinton family?

She was still wondering when a cheerful voice called out, “Mom!”
