Mated To The Alpha King (Raven and Ethan) novel Chapter 135

Chapter 135

Raven’s POV

Let me sleep a little,I grumbled, slamming my hand against the alarm clock until it went silent. I wasn’t in the mood to get out of bed this morning

Thank goodness I wasn’t working anymore if I still held that stupid maid title; someone would have already dragged me out of the bed by now, probably Olivia sending someone to humiliate me as always. But things had changed. A lot had changed.

I pulled the blanket over my face, trying to drown out the morning light slipping through the gaps in the curtains. But it didn’t help. My thoughts were already loud, tearing through my mind like a storm.

Alpha Ethan.

His words from last night still echoed in my ears. The way he had looked at me. The softening in his eyes., the moment our eyes locked and I felt that damn pull again. That cursed mate bond was trying to tie me back to someone who’d only hurt me.

But I wasn’t the same girl I used to be. I had buried her with every insult, every bruise, and every tear.

I groaned and pushed the blanket off. I couldn’t lie in bed forever. My mouth felt dry, and my skin was sticky from the night’s sweat and torment. I stood and dragged myself to the bathroom.

I turned on the faucet, splashing cold water on my face until I could feel again. Then brushed my teeth, the taste of wine and unspoken bitterness lingering on my tongue. Afterward, I turned on the shower and stood under the water for a long time, letting it wash away the tension gripping my body.

I stayed in there until my skin wrinkled.

When I stepped out, I wrapped a towel around myself and wiped the fog from the mirror. My reflection stared back, tired eyes, lips pressed in a firm line, a small scar still healing under my jawline. A reminder of what love had cost me.

I changed into a long black dress that hugged my waist and flared out around my feet. It was elegant, simple, and safe. I let my damp hair fall down my back and sat on the edge of the bed, sighing as I folded my hands over my lap.

Memories circled in my mind like vultures over a carcass.

How Alpha Ethan thought he could win me back with sweet words and sudden kindness. As if going and threatening. As if a soft tone could undo the cruelty. The rejection. The humiliation.

No.

Even if the mate bond tugged at me, whispered for me to forgive, to fall back into his arms, I wouldn’t. Not until he suffered the same way I had. Not until he felt what it was like to beg for dignity and be given a cell instead. To cry in the dark and be told it was his fault.

Only then could we talk.

A sudden knock interrupted the silence, pulling me from my thoughts.

I blinked and turned to the door, my heart leaping against my chest.

I rose slowly, walked over, and opened it, only to be stunned into silence.

Alpha Ethan stood there, holding a tray of food.

My lips parted, but I said nothing for a second,

Can I come in?he asked softly, like the man I used to dream of instead of the one who’d turned my life into a waking nightmare,

No,” I said flatly, my voice void of warmth. What do you want?

He glanced down at the tray. II made you breakfast.

I raised a brow, And?

And I wanted to bring it to you myself,he said, swallowing like the words were heavier than the tray he held.

I’m not hungry.

Please, Raven. Just take it.

I said I’m not hungry. When I am, I’ll fix

something for myself. I’m not crippled.

His eyes lowered, but he still didn’t move. I just

st wanted to do something for you.

Then take it to your mate,” I snapped, turning my

away.

You are my mate,he said immediately.

I scoffed. I’m not. Take it to Olivia. That’s the woman you chose. That’s the woman you let destroy me while you stood there and watched.

He flinched. I saw it. And it pleased me.

You want my forgiveness?I went on, stepping forward. Then why is Olivia still locked in her room while I was nearly stoned to death for less?

His lips parted, but no words came.

Exactly,1 muttered.

I’ll ask the guards to take her to the cell,” he said after a moment. If that’s what you want.

My jaw tightened. Better.

Just as I was about to take the tray from him out of pure pity, another voice echoed from behind him.

Good morning, beautiful,” Beta Matthew said, walking into view.

My heart skipped.

He, too, held a tray of food.

I was worried you hadn’t eaten, so I brought you breakfast.

Alpha Ethan turned around, his back rigid. Are you blind, Matthew? Do you not see I already brought her breakfast?

Beta Matthew smirked. Well, I guess it’s up to Raven to decide whose breakfast she prefers.

The air thickened with tension. Both men stared at me. One with frustration, the other with calm confidence.

And then it hit me.

An idea. A wicked one.
