Mated To The Alpha King (Raven and Ethan) novel Chapter 166

Chapter 166

Raven’s POV

Take this and get dressed.” Alpha Ethan said as he dropped the dress on the bed and walked out without sparing me another glance.

His deep voice still lingered in the room even after the door clicked shut.

I stared at the royal blue dress lying on the bed like some kind of gift I never asked for.

The fabric shimmered slightly under the soft light, silver crystals glittering as if mocking me. Beside it was a pair of matching silver heels that looked way too expensive for someone like mea maid, a prisoner, a woman stripped of every shred of dignity.

I let out a heavy sigh, running a hand through my tangled hair as a bitter laugh slipped from my lips. It wasn’t the kind of laugh that came from joy; it was sharp and empty, the kind that sounded creepy even to me. What was I doing? Dressing up for the same man who ruined me, who chained me to a life I never wanted? The same man who didn’t even explain why I needed to wear this dress?

I stood there for a moment, the weight of my thoughts pressing on my chest until it was hard to breathe. I could smash the dress, tear it apart with my bare hands, and scream until my voice bledbut what would that change? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

So instead, I walked to the bathroom like a puppet on invisible strings.

The bathroom tiles were cold under my feet as I stepped in and shut the door. My reflection in the mirror made my stomach twist.

Pale skin, hollow eyes, lips that had forgotten what it felt like to smile for real. I didn’t even look like the Raven I used to know anymore.

Stripping off my clothes felt like peeling away layers of pain, but it wasn’t enough.

The moment the shower’s warm spray hit my skin, I pressed my palms against the wall and lowered my head, letting the water wash over me. My tears mixed with the shower water until I couldn’t tell which was which.

Why am I doing this? I asked myself silently. Why am I still here?

Because I had no choice. Because Alpha Ethan owned every piece of me. And yetdeep down, there was still a sparka fire that refused to die. The fire of revenge.

I scrubbed my skin harder than necessary, as if I could erase every memory of his hands on me. But no amount of soap or water could do that. Eventually, I stepped out, wrapped myself in a towel, and went back to the bedroom.

That was when the door opened, and a maid walked in quietly.

Alpha Ethan asked me to help you get dressed, she said softly, her eyes fixed on the floor.

For a moment, I thought about refusing.

I thought about telling her to get out, to leave me alone. But what was the point? Refusing would only bring punishment, and I had had enough of those to last a lifetime.

So, I sat on the edge of the bed like an obedient doll while she worked.

She dried my hair and brushed it until it fell smoothly down my back. Then she applied light makeup, giving my face a glow I didn’t feel on the inside.

His familiar scent hit me first, then the sight of his face those deep eyes that once looked at me with nothing but warmth now brimmed with something else. Pity.

The look sliced through me like a blade.

I couldn’t hold his gaze. I couldn’t bear for him to see me like this, dressed up like a prize for the man who destroyed everything between us. So, I lowered my eyes to the floor and kept walking before he could say a word.

I felt his stare burning into my back as I walked away, but I didn’t turn around.

Outside, Alpha Ethan was waiting by the car, leaning casually against the sleek black vehicle like a king waiting for his servant. He didn’t even spare me a compliment, not a single word about the effort I or the maid put into this look. He simply opened the door, and I slid inside without protest.

The drive was silent.

The only sound was the low hum of the engine and my own heartbeat pounding in my ears. I stared out of the window, watching the world blur by. It felt like I was trapped in a glass box able to see everything but never truly free.
