Chapter 82

Alpha Ethan’s Pov

It’s been an hour now since asked the guards to check where she had run off to, but there’s still no information. Not even a damn clue. My patience was running thin. My wolf was growing restless, pacing in my mind like a caged beast. I couldn’t sit ställ Anymore.

with a frustrated sigh, I stood up from my chair and stormed out of the study. The tension in my shoulders was unbearable. I headed straight to my room my mind racing with different thoughtsnone of them pleasant. I couldn’t understand what was happening to me. Why was this anxious? Why did her absence feel like a sharp knife lodged deep in my chest?

Iyanked open my wardrobe and changed into a black hoodie and sweatpantssomething comfortable enough to move through the woods if I had to. was just about to reach for the door when I heard the bathroom door behind me creak open.

Olivia stepped out, towel in hand, steam wafting around her. Her hair was damp and hanging loosely over her shoulders, and she wore nothing but a robe.

Where are you going?she asked, her voice calm, but I caught a subtle edge behind the question.

I didn’t look at her as I zipped up my hoodie. I want to check something

Don’t tell me you’re going to look for Raven, she said sharply, arms now crossed under her chest.

That made me freeze. Slowly, I turned to look at her. What did you just say!

She blinked, then looked away quickly. it’s nothing, she said too fast.

I stepped closer, narrowing my eyes at her. How did you know she was missing? I never said anything

She swallowed hard. I just assumed, since you’ve been pacing around like a madman,” she offered with a small shrug, but I wasn’t convinced. There was something off about her. Something wasn’t sitting right.

I turned and walked out of the room without another word. But her statement echoed in my head like a haunting whisper. What if she had something to do with Raven’s disappearance?

I clenched my fists. No. I shouldn’t jump to conclusions. But damn, I couldn’t shake that uneasiness crawling in my gut

Just as I reached the entrance of the pack house, I found Beta Matthew waiting, a concerned look on his face. Anything yet?he asked.

i shook my head. No. I’m heading out to search myself

He hesitated, then nodded. I’ll come with you.

I was grateful. I didn’t say it, but I was. We headed off, searching every comer of the pack house, the gardens, even the training grounds. Nothing. Not a

trace of her. Not a scent. My wolf howled with growing concem. With every passing second, the knot in my chest tightened.

An hour passed. Maybe more. We were both tired and sweaty, and the sun was already dipping low in the sky.

Maybe we should check the woods?Matthew suggested, wiping sweat from his brow

I nodded. Yeah. We can’t rule anything out

When we got to the edge of the forest, the trees loomed like watchful sentinels. I turned to him. You go left. I take the right.

He nodded and veered into the trees.

As I walked deeper into the woods, the silence was broken only by the crunching of leaves beneath my boots and the occasional rustle of animals. opened myself to the wind, to the scents around me. My senses sharpened.

And then it hit me.

Ascent.

Faint, but familiar.

My steps slowed, and my heart raced. I sniffed again

It was her

Raven

But how? Wolves weren’t supposed to be able to catch a scent this distinctly unless it was their mate, froze for a second, my thoughts swirling in confusion

She’s not my mateBut the scentIt was calling to me. Pulling me deeper.

Driven by instinct, I followed it, pushing past branches and lowhanging leaves until the scent grow stronger.

And then I saw it.

My heart stopped.

There she wasRaven,

Unconscious.

Naked

Lying on the forest floor like a discarded rag doll. Her body bruised and covered in dirt, her hair tangled and matted. Around her were three dead rogues, blood staining the grass around them.

My breath caught.

I rushed to her side and dropped to my knees, checking her pulse. It was therefaint, but steady. Relief washed through me, though the fear hadn’t left. My eyes scanned her body. No fatal injuries that I could see, but she was cold. Too cold.

I pulled off my hoodie and wrapped it around her, shielding her body from the air. My heart ached at the sight of her lying there, so vulnerable. Who did this? Why was she out here alone?.

And those rogueshow did she kill them?

I examined the scene again. The rogues had claw marks across their chests and necksclean strikes. Her wolfhad done this. But it must have drained her energy

RavenI whispered, brushing hair out of her face. What happened to you?

She didn’t stir.

I felt helpless. Useless-

I reached for the mind link. Matthew! Come quick! I found her! Bring a blanket and watershe’s unconscious andnaked.

There was a moment of shocked silence on his end before his voice came through. I’m on my way!

I stayed by her side, keeping her warm, my hoodie now soaked with her sweat and forest dew. My fingers trembled as i hald her hand.

My mind was a storm of questions. What if I hadn’t come? What if we had given up and gone back?
