Nora was standing in the Alpha’s office looking at Jace, who was now frowning at her as she informed him.
that she was going to her home pack. Her sister had turned 16, and she was due to get her wolf this full moon, so she was going to go there to see its emergence; she’d not come down here to ask for his
permission.
She was still not really speaking to him, though she’d woken up in their bed every damned day this week, though he’d told her it wasn’t him but his wolf, Hydro, who had waited for her to fall asleep and come and
picked her up and moved her right to their bed. She understood Hydro was trying to get Rosa to come back to
him.
She’d told Jace she didn’t really appreciate it, that she saw it as his wolf didn’t care for her feelings right this
minute, or that she and Jace weren’t getting along, and she’d stated point blankly to his face 1 don’t want to wake up in your bed with you, our difference of opinion has not been resolved at all. You still think I’m a child and until you can see I’m not a child, that I have the right to feel hurt by what you did, and didn’t do. We
shouldn’t sleep in the same bed.”
He’d not liked hearing it and had gone to stalk away from her, and she’d stated, “What now, you don’t like hearing how I feel, even though it was you that told me to tell you exactly how I feel, because you can’t fix it if
you don’t know what is wrong.”
He’d stopped in the suite’s doorway and, though he’d not looked at her, she knew he was unhappy, because
he had done that, and she’d wondered if it had actually hurt him or maybe his wolf to hear her state such a thing so plainly. But then he’d just nodded and left the suite without saying a word and, although she’d still woken up in his bed every day, she’d been alone at least and there had been no seduction from his wolf or
himself.
Jace was now sitting staring at her with a deep frown on his face. She just stood there and waited for him to
process what she said and come up with whatever answer he thought was suitable for him, no matter what it was, she was going and that was all there was to it.
Finally, after several minutes of silence, he stated “Nora, I can’t go with you, it’s just not feasible this full
moon.”
“I’m aware,” she nodded, “you’re off to a mating ball, it’s fine. I’m a big girl now. I can drive out there to my home pack on my own,” she’d told him, making sure to use the word girl, and she saw him flinch at it. It was her way of reminding him he thought she was a child.
“It’s not safe for you to do that on your own,” he huffed a little.
“Why?” she’d asked directly. She saw no issue with it at all other than being a lone she–wolf, and she didn’t really intend to stop anywhere along the way, so it was highly unlikely anything would happen to her.
“You’re my mate and seen as the Luna to this pack. That in itself could see you be a target for k**
told her.
“g.” he
She’d actually snorted, fully amused, into that office for not only him to hear but his entire unit, who were all in there as well. That was the funniest thing she’d ever heard come out of him. “I’m not seen as that Luna to
this pack. That would be Gloria. She holds the title of Luna.

“You’ve never announced me like that,” she shrugged. “So who out there is going to know I am even your
Mate. No one, so there is no issue at all. As far as I can see, if one of your enemies are looking to snatch. something that means the world to you, it ain’t going to be me, it’s going to be Gloria they’re looking for
He’d stared right at her, seemed unimpressed by her utter dismissal of who she was to this pack, but Her
words were not wrong. She’d been here four months now or would have been the day after this full moon
came and went and there had been no offer of Luna training, no Luna Ceremony still. She was just–a pack
member and nothing more, of insignificance to any that would know this pack.
“You are still my mate, and the threat remains,” he muttered. He couldn’t actually refute her words, she’d not
lied.
“Hmm. Well, I’m going whether you like it or not. This is just a common courtesy. My telling you now is solely because I didn’t want you to hear from anyone inside the pack,” she stated, “Call you and tell you no one knew where I was or that…” she trailed off, and she had a feeling Gloria would tell him, spin it that way, the
woman hated her, and not once in the past week had he touched Gloria at all, she’d felt nothing
He’d raised an eyebrow at her. “Or what?” he’d asked in return, though he was now looking at her a bit
confused she thought, he’d either blipped over her insinuation–that Gloria would make something up to have
him yell at her when she got back, or he actually didn’t get what she was saying at all.
“Oh, I don’t know, that I’d left you or some crap like that.” She’d waved a hand in the air dismissively, but she
really did want to know what his reaction to those very words were.
She watched Jace lean back in his Alpha chair and actually chuckle softly himself, seems he thought that
sentence was funny. “We’re mated to each other, that’s not something I would be concerned about. You can go and visit your family. I get the importance of a wolfen family bonding,” he stated. “Be careful driving there and back, don’t stop anywhere that looks desolate or dodgy, and please say hello to your sister and parents
from me.”
She’d nodded and walked away from him. She hadn’t been there for his permission, but it was interesting to know that he thought she would never leave him, why he was so secure in their mate bond with all that was going on she didn’t know. Especially considering he had to know that every time he touched Gloria, regardless of how small it was, she, his actual Mate would feel it. Or was it just that he’d stopped touching
Gloria this week, so she thought he’d changed and was being her Mate now and not interested in Gloria
anymore.
Or did he simply think, that because he was an Alpha to a pack, that she would stay with him for the power and position of his Mate? She knew he was arrogant, but he didn’t know her at all. She’d not cared that he’d
been an actual Alpha of a pack, wouldn’t have cared if he was not inline to inherit anything at all, when she’d
scented him.
She had only cared to have a Mate, and be happy and loved by him. That’s why she’d not bucked up and
lashed out at Gloria being in the Luna’s position when she’d arrived here, why she’d been so accommodating
and understanding, because she loved him, not his title.
He was certain that she’d never leave him, because for the past four months she’d put up with everything and not rejected him. He likely thought it was all about the title. Little did he know she was already planning to reject his ass and leave him, because he didn’t love her at all. Those little touches to Gloria had shown her
that, she never had to worry about forgetting it. Was reminded daily by the brief pains of betrayal, just what she was to him.
CH 13
Nothing. He might be refraining himself right thin minute from touching Gloria, but she had a feeling that it was more to do with getting Rosa back, so there was no chance of her producing a wolf–less heir for him when she finally came back around to him.
His wolf was likely Intervening because of Rosa’s current condition, and his lack of a wolfen Mate where he’d once had one. She wondered as she went to the suite if she could exploit that part of him to keep Gloria and Jace separated. Maybe she should play the heartbroken Mate, who thought she was about to become completely wolf–less, and tell him she needed to spend more time with him, and allow Gloria to see it, him catering to her every whim, being loving and affectionate right in front of that she–wolf.
Let her get a
t a full taste of her own medicine and see how she liked it, if she could handle it the way Nora did, or would she lose her s**t and come at Nora, attack her. That would be a full death sentence to the woman and if Jace didn’t punish her for it, then he would be seen as betraying their mate bond for all of the pack to
see.
She might not be the reigning Luna of his pack, but she was his Goddess–Gifted Mate, so he’d have to kill that she–wolf. She stood and thought about that. Would he do it? Show his loyalty to Nora, his actual Mate? Or would he risk the wrath of his pack by defending the she–wolf that he had seated as the Luna? That was definitely food for thought.
Seeds of actual revenge were starting to formulate; all she needed to do was put Jace in a position where he had to punish his Luna for injury to his Goddess–Gifted Mate to out that man and make him suffer. Really suffer, by hurting the woman he actually loved.
