Nora nearly sighed to herself as she felt Jace’s tether outside of her room. He was just kind of standing out there, he’d pressed the doorbell, and shad not gotten up to answer it. Wasn’t going to either. She was in fact injured and needed to rest. That was Carlos order. For her to stay in bed or sit on the couch. No getting up and moving around a lot, it had been his instructions for her to leave the hospital.
She felt him try and connect a mind–link to her and shut it down. She didn’t want that man’s voice inside her head. She didn’t even know why he was out there, standing in the corridor. Surely, he had things to do that didn’t involve him bugging her. She heard the door chime once more and ignored it. She was reading an online journal article on architecture.
She read about architecture in her semester breaks at uni to try and get a heads–up for the next degree she wanted to attend, and it was interesting to her. Some of the things she learned actually helped with her engineering degree at times. She checked the reading lists for the first year students each year. Sometimes they changed, and she worked her way through them in her spare time.
Jace opened the door after about a minute of standing out there, regardless that she hadn’t bothered to answer it. Though she thought that, in itself, would make it very clear she didn’t want to see him. Seems he didn’t care about that or her needing to have peace and quiet; bed rest.
Her eyes moved to him briefly as he closed the door after stepping inside, and she saw there was a single flower in his hand. She rolled her eyes at the sight of it and turned back to the journal article. What did he think bringing her a flower that he’d sent to Gloria was going to get him?
“How are you this morning Nora?” he asked, “Feeling any better?”
Nora didn’t answer him. She just continued to read her article, only to hear him sigh a little, and then he walked over and placed that flower on the table next to her. Her eyes moved right towards it, and she could smell Gloria’s scent all over it. Of course, she could. It was for his Luna. She flicked it off the table, and it landed at his feet. “Like I want that.” She stated simply.
“I bought it for you. Picked it out myself,” he told her.
Picked it out for her himself, she thought, and a full snort of derision came from her. “Did you, now?” she stated. “I seriously doubt that.”
“Nora, of course I did, why would I have anyone else pick out flowers for you?” he murmured and picked it up from the floor, and held it out to her.
She didn’t take it, didn’t want anything from him, he’d never given her anything before, so why would he start now? “They were for your Luna. You sent her a lovely bunch of flowers, and then decided, as a side note, that you’d better be seen giving one to your Mate as well. An afterthought, I imagine, is all; considering tire pack knows I’m injured. Plucked that did you, right out of the bunch of flowers for your Luna, and brought it to me so you don’t appear callous, are making an effort, and I’m refusing it, am… being childish.” She knew that was all it was, because it smelled just like Gloria, and that was how he always made her look to the
pack.
She glanced at him when he said nothing, and he was frowning at her now, looked from her to the flower and
his frown deepened a little. “There is no need to be to me, I can smut her on that fower Haka, and g back to the person it belongs to” she shrugged “You tune, not you Mate or stated and are w

Then he looked at the flower once more, and she watched ham breathe in and yes, the trendered it had his Luna’s scent on it. The asshole didn’t even think twice about what had done, or may he thought with Rosa gone she wouldn’t be able to smell Gloria’s scent all over t
“I sent them to you, you must have gotten them to know who they were addressed to My Luna,” he told her. “Hmm. I saw the card and sent them to the pack’s Luna, you might want to make sure the florist doesn’t make the same mistake next time. Differentiate to her the distinction between who is your Luna and who is your Mate” She turned her eyes back to the article.
“It wasn’t a mistake,” he told her. “So, you had them sent to Gloria, not me.”
Her eyes moved towards him once more, and she raised an eyebrow at his words. He was trying to blame her for giving them to Gloria, she realized. Ah, that was his purpose, for this very visit. I guess, you sent them to me to make sure I know who your Luna is, and I sent them where they belonged. Message received, Alpha She stated, and he was staring at her now, and Nora wondered if he was trying to figure out if she’d read the card or not. Had that been his purpose in sending them to her, to put her firmly in her place?
“Don’t concern yourself with me, and I did not pry into what you wrote to her. I’m not interested at all in that, she told him. “Please make sure it doesn’t happen again, I understood your message loud and clear.”
“I don’t think you did. Those flowers were for you, Nora, I assure you of that. I have been trying to show you for a while now, that I want you beside me. I see now that you don’t or aren’t willing to understand my intentions… So, to show you, I mean this, that I want you by myside, I thought we could hold the Luna Ceremony on the next full moon.” He stated, “To show you and the pack, I do want you as my Mate and Luna.” “Do whatever you like. It’s your pack,” she stated without looking at him. She didn’t believe him or his intentions.
He was quiet for a long minute and then asked, “The dress, what would you like to wear?”
She sighed to herself, it seemed he wasn’t going to leave this room. She looked right at him and leaned her head back on that couch, where she saw his eyes move over her, and he looked right at her forehead, to the mark and the bruise that he had caused himself.
It was much darker now, and he kind of looked like he was finding it hard to look at her. She knew she was still covered in bruising, and he could still see the little wound on her forehead from where he’d made her bow down to him. “Shouldn’t you already know what kind of dress?” she asked.
If he was a loving Mate he would actually know what she wanted to wear. He would have asked her this months ago. She could only imagine he was trying to placate her; Carlos had stated at least a year before they could try and conceive a pup again, and he’d already put her on wolfen birth control.
So, Jace had to put up with her for another year if he wanted that pup from a Goddess–Gifted. Gloria might want another surrogate, but he, being the Alpha, would be the one to make that decision regardless of what Gloria wanted. She knew he would want the strongest pup he could get and that would be from her.
“You’ll likely wear your dark blue double–breasted, it’s your favorite suit,” she stated, wondering if he knew

anything about her at all. But she wasn’t going to tell him anything about herself or what she liked. Solely because it wasn’t real, if he did actually go through with it, it would all be for show.
She was challenging him to know what she liked, even made a point of stating what his favorite suit was She knew him; is what she was saying, but she didn’t think he knew her at all. He couldn’t when he spent 90% of his days in his office, or in the city, or spending time with Gloria.
She wasn’t going to answer him on anything he asked. This was going to have to be all his doing, but even as she thought about that, a thought occurred to her. She could let him plan it, spend all that money on it, make him do it all, from picking the dress to the hair and make–up, the flowers and decorations.
“You stated point blankly I wasn’t getting a Luna Ceremony, to Alpha Desmond, I’m too childish, so I won’t get
one.” she reminded him, “So why bother with it now? Have I changed? Or…” she thought about it for a moment, “Do you feel guilty about something? Perhaps Jace, you’ve done something wrong and need to make amends for it. Is that all this is? Your way of trying to get me to forgive you? For choosing Gloria over
me at every turn.”
He sighed heavily and then actually knelt down before her, sank right down onto his knees, “I have wronged you; I now see the error of my ways, Nora. I want to make amends and do right by you. Our bond is broken, I see, and I would like to fix that. I should have attended your Luna Ceremony months ago, and I see now that by not doing this, you’ve pulled away from me. I want for us to be closer once more. Try and work this out,” he
stated as he looked at her.
“Really?” she asked and reached up to touch her forehead and she saw his eyes move right towards it, and he actually lowered his eyes from her, and then bowed his head to her as if apologizing. “Do it on your own, if you ever loved me, Jace, you’ll know how to plan it, because you’d know my preferences.”
He was looking at her now a little on what she thought was the exasperated side, but she didn’t care, stated” I’m tired, please leave, the pack doctor stated I need full rest for three or four days.”
He frowned at her. “My being here should comfort you.”
“Should it? I don’t get that from you. Sorry, I guess not having my wolf hinders that. Please go about your day and don’t concern yourself with my well–being, now. I will look after myself as I have always done since getting here,” she stated flatly.
“Nora please, I am trying.”
“I’m certain you are needed elsewhere.” She turned her attention back to the article and finally heard him stand up and leave.
It was interesting to her that he would kneel before her like that, bow his head even. She wondered if her nearly dying had actually had some sort of effect on him, where the Mate Bond was concerned. Had he actually felt her nearly dying and realized what she actually was supposed to be to him? She could likely work with that to extract real revenge upon him.
pain of Have him succumb to the Mate Bond and actually love her, only to reject him and make him fe heartbreak. She thought about that, if he was actually genuine, she could kill two birds with one stone at that Luna Ceremony. She would wait and see what he would do, if he was truly genuine or not.
