CH 52

Nora

Her eyes moved to the rack of dresses over there at the other end of the room. He’d not even looked at them, hadn’t realized she’d gone through them yet, likely didn’t think that she would at this point, so paid them no attention at all. Seems his focus was solely on her and his wanting to have a meal with her.

She shook her head, and wondered if he thought he could fix things with a few dinners or dates she supposed. It wasn’t something that could happen. She also didn’t need to tick Gloria off either. By them being

seen together, she wanted that she–wolf to think she was going to get everything she’d once had as well.

The difficult thing now was how to play both those two at the same time. Jace would be easy, she thought, seeing as he was now full of guilt at what he’d done, and pulled away from Gloria, the Mate Bond was going

to suck him right in. She was going to let him feel it, want it and think he could have it. Just like she’d felt in

the very beginning.

That just meant, over the next few weeks, all she had to do was slowly stop arguing with him and show him

some semblance of interest in him. That she wasn’t ignoring him and becoming less distant and cold towards him, but slowly it would have to be. Otherwise, that Gamma of his would likely think it was an act

She’d beaten him at his own game in the hospital and showed him she wasn’t attached to him and not

having Rosa with her. That hindered his ability as well. It was the wolfen side of them that submitted to the

Gamma’s Charm before the human counterpart. So, she had that on her side. All she had to do was think not

so much about her planning when he was around.

She’d been able to keep him and his instincts away from her for months now. She had beaten him and his Gamma ability. The entire time she’d been here, she realized, not once had he picked up on even her pains of betrayal, with the exception of that day in the Alpha’s office, and only because it had happened right in front

of him, with the Alpha and Gloria there as well.

But she’d gotten it past him before, when Jace had touched or kissed Gloria that one time, and she had

bitten her lip damned hard as those pains of betrayal had coursed across her lip, bitten so hard she’d drawn blood, as she’d seen Matt coming and told him it was just that, and he’d believed it. He wasn’t a very good Gamma, she thought, if something like that for her, could get past him when he was right there before her.

Perhaps their Goddess saw fit to punish him for his lack of knowing what was going on, so his ability was weakening. Or maybe it was just that he, like everyone else inside this pack, only cared about Gloria and her

needs.

She got up and made herself a cup of tea and stood looking out the window as she let thoughts like that go. It didn’t need to concern her anymore, what she needed to do was figure out how to keep Gloria attached to Jace but also away from him at the same time.

Though Gloria was now dismissed from her office and Jace had told the pack she wasn’t the acting Luna anymore, Nora needed that she–wolf to still retain power here, still do Luna duties even. Be seen by the pack as moving about doing things she would normally do, as though Jace had kept her doing all the things he’d dismissed her from.

She looked at her phone when it dinged with a message and picked it up, stared at it as she saw it was a deposit notification from her bank. Of five thousand dollars, she opened the app and saw it was from her

mother. That was a lot of money. She didn’t ask for that and put a call to her mother.

“Did you get the money sweetheart?” her mother asked her right away.

“I did, that’s too much,” Nora told her. “I’ll send half of it back to you.”

“No, don’t you dare, you need that money. I went and talked to Alpha Clayton and Luna Nelly, and they gave me half of that. He’s also paid the bill for your university accommodation as well.”

“Oh,” she didn’t know what to say to that. “I was hoping my scholarship would get renewed and cover that. I should find out next week. If it does, I think the money will be returned to him, or I can send it back to him,”

she stated.

“I don’t think a few thousand dollars are going to bother the Alpha sweetheart, he’s got millions. The Luna also asked me to see how you’re doing. I’ve told her all that is going on, all that happened. Are you healing alright without Rosa?”

“Oh that. Sorry to worry you… I left pack territory and Rosa came forward. I’m all healed.” She sighed. “I should have told you; I was just preoccupied I guess.”

“It’s fine. I’m glad she can still come forward at times. How are you coping with the loss?”

“Loss?” she frowned, not understanding.

“The pup sweetheart?” her mother stated softly.

“Oh, that, Rosa and I agreed it was for the best. We’re fine, actually glad not to be tied to him in that way.”

“Nora?”

“Honestly, I didn’t know about it, and I’m glad I’m not anymore. So don’t concern yourself with it at all, mum. Okay,” she stated.

“Okay, have you found the dress you want yet?”

“Hmm, I kind of know what I want, now I can purchase something, though getting out of the pack to go and get it…” she thought about that. That could be a potential problem. She couldn’t very well tell Jace what she was up to, or why she was going to the city.

“Tell him you’re going to have lunch with your father and I,” her mother told her.

“Hmm, he might suddenly want to come to that, is playing the apologetic Mate card at the moment, trying to

convince me he’s changed his ways.”

“Has he?” her mother asked curiously.

“I don’t really care if he has or not. I’ll not be taking him back mother, not after months of betrayal. That just shows he’ll do it again if he wants to. He doesn’t respect the Mate Bond at all,” she stated simply. “Though I’m going to let him think I believe him before I leave.”

There was silence at the other end of the line “You show him, Nora, just how strong you are. What that pack will lose by losing a Luna like you. All Alphas want strong Mates and Lunas. You’re already smart and intelligent, already shown how strong you are, just by dealing with all this, what you have put up with so far

and not lashed out.”

“I will punish him and that she–wolf too. Don’t you worry about it, mother, I currently have an agreement with

her. She won’t touch him, and I will leave him come the full moon.”

CH 52

“She could tell him that?” her mother murmured.

“She won’t, he’s actually starting to succumb to the mate bond and pulled away from her. I’ve told her I’m not interested. I’ll reject him and leave, and she can have him back. That is what she wants. She won’t risk his planning of the Luna Ceremony, it’s going to be tailored to her anyway and not me,” she half smiled.

“Even the dress I’ve chosen out of those that Jace presented to me, that is more her than me. I’m not going to wear it though…” she sank down and looked at the dress. “I’ll give him just about everything he wants in the coming weeks, make him think I’ve come around, and he’ll think he’s going to get everything he wants only to

see he’s got nothing.”

“You’ll give him everything he wants? Sweetie, he’s an Alpha. He’s going to want to pull you into his bed. It will be the easiest way to show you he wants you.”

“He’ll not get that; I’m not at all interested in him like that anymore. Just looking at him turns my stomach. He might be nice looking, but his handsomeness is only skin deep. He’s rotten on the inside. I nor my wolf want to be mated to him or his beast anymore. Nothing will change that for us.”

“Are you sure you can handle him? He’s likely to try and turn the charm on, and, as his Mate, you’ll still get all the mate bond sparks. And he’ll be able to bring about desire even.”

“Let him try and see what he gets.” She stated simply, “I think he’ll find there will be none of that and that will cause him great concern, only make him realize he has to work harder, don’t you think, to fix things.”

“I don’t know Nora, Alpha/Luna bonds can be strong, and you’d be surprised what can bring them back together,” her mother sighed heavily.

“Don’t concern yourself with it. Without Rosa, even his Gamma struggles to deal with me.”

“Alright… I got an official invitation to your Luna Ceremony this morning, as did our Alpha and Luna.” She murmured, “What do you want to do about that? If we don’t turn up it will look suspicious.”

“I guess that is up to you, and your Alpha. I’d rather you and dad not come…” she thought about it for a minute: “Maybe something happens on the way here, or you could say there was a rogue attack the day before it, when you’re supposed to arrive, so you couldn’t get here. There’s too much to do.”

“Or maybe honey, we can be there and take you out of that place ourselves. When you’re ready, I’ll talk to the Alpha and Luna here and get them to ring you on this number and perhaps a proper exit plan can be made.”

“Alright. But I have my own plan I want to execute.” She stated, “But to leave that pack, I guess with my old Alpha and Luna, or yourselves could be worked into it.”
