Nora had finally found what she thought was the perfect dress. She called the store and adtatt had one in stock in her size. The website said that they did, but she just wanted to make selge ta made her way there. She wanted to try it on to make sure it was the right size because differet cuting

brands sometimes varied in dress sizing

She had to put a non–refundable deposit on the dress to hold it for her to come in and try it on. She couldn’t get there today. It was too late in the afternoon for her to make it to the city before the store dosed because

she lived an hour away. So, she told them she would go down and do it tomorrow

She got up and left the suite for the first time in days and headed downstars only to see Jace coming from a room on the fourth floor, and then Gloria was leaning in the doorway. She looked right at Nocs and smiles at

her.

Jace came to a full halt in his walking upon seeing her, and she shook her head at him, and continued on down the stairs even as she heard him calling out to her “Nora, wait, it’s not what you think?

“Do whatever you want, Jace.” She stated and brushed his hand off her arm when it landed on her 1 told you

“Nora please, can we just go to my office and discuss this in private,” he asked.

In private, she thought as she continued down the stairs. “If it’s not what I think, then why does it need to be

in private?” she countered but didn’t stop walking.

“Because things between you and I should be in private,” he stated.

“Behind closed doors.” She murmured herself and stopped walking, as she reached the foyer and saw Matt

coming out of the Alpha’s office. “Hmm, I imagine that is, so no one sees you and I together, because Gloria is who you want.” She stated while looking at Matt, the pack’s Gamma walking this way, it was pretty dam obvious that Jace had mind–linked him to come and help handle her. “Maybe, Jace I should treat you exactly the same as you’ve done me. Matt’s attractive to me,” she smiled at the pack’s Gamma. “I bet his lips are soft

to the touch, and he’s just as muscled up.”

She heard Jace gasp out “Don’t talk like that.” Even as she saw Matt come to a halt, her eyes had never left him, she didn’t really care to look at Jace. “Blonde hair that one can run their hands through and grip on to in the heat of the moment, beautiful blue eyes, and a perfectly sculpted jaw line,” she tilted her head slightly and slid her eyes right over him and smiled “I bet that mouth and being a Gamma, he would be able to give me all I need and want. And give you back everything I felt over the past months. Every time you touched another.” She finally turned her eyes on Jace as she watched Matt turned and walk away back towards the office, he would be able to feel her intent, and she really did want to kiss another, touch another and have

Jace feel it.

“You may be trying to win me over, and bring me back to you, but…. Seeing you come from Gloria’s room isn’t going to do that. I guess everything you’ve said over the past few days is just a lie. You’ll never change,” she

stated, and walked away from him.

“Nora, I said it’s not what it looks like.”

TO PAY

“And isn’t that just what all cheaters say?” She called over her shoulder, uncaring of the half–dozen pack members that had just walked into the foyer and were now looking from her to their own Alpha, who she’d just accused of cheating on her.

She walked right out of the packhouse and headed off to find her car. She knew where the pack mechanic was, had walked about more than a few times on her own, and she found it with ease, about a one–hour stroll from the packhouse on the other side of the pack where all the homes were.

She walked over to her car and looked at it, frowned at the fact there was no front seat and walked into the

workshop. “Excuse me, what happened to my car?” she asked.

He looked at her for a moment and there was no recognition. His eyes moved to the filigree on her neck, and he stood up. “Oh, sorry, I have only seen you once before, Nora. Your car is being deep cleaned, and the driver’s side floor carpet and seat have to be replaced. I have ordered what is needed.”

“Why do they need replacing?” she frowned at him.

“There was a lot of blood that seeped into the seat, and cleaning it was hard. I opted to replace it. The seat is

due to arrive in a few days. The carpeting is already done,” he told her.

“How much is that going to cost me? I thought mechanics had to get approval from the owner before they

could do things like that.”

He was just staring at her now, “The car was sent to me, and I was told to fix it, so I am just doing my job.”

“And who’s going to pay for it?” she asked.

“You’ll just put it on your Luna Card.” He frowned at her, “The pack will pay for it.”

“I don’t have a Luna card. I’m not the Luna, as you are well aware that would be Gloria, and I don’t think she’s going to come down here and pay for the damage to my car. Now is she.”

“N… no, I suppose not,” he stated.

“Is there a courtesy car I can use between now and then?” she asked.

“Um no, you can just use a pack car, there are dozens of them up in the car park area beyond the single’s

dorm. But I’m certain the car the Alpha gave you will be in the garage.”

She half laughed. “I have never gotten anything from the Alpha.” She turned and walked off, away from him.

She made her way to the garage that housed the Alpha and his unit’s cars, and strolled in there. Flicked the

lights on and there were several nice cars in here. All with their rank initial and then their name on it.

L Gloria. That so–called Luna car’s number plate read. Of course, it did. She strolled along and looked at all

the cars. Not one in here had her name on it. There wasn’t even one that would elude to her with rank and

what she was ‘A Mate‘ for Alpha’s Mate. She left the garage and walked over to where the pack cars were and glanced inside them. There were three dozen cars there and when she tried the handles they were all unlocked and the keys were in the ignition as well.

For anyone to use, she collected the keys for one and snapped a picture of the number plate so she would recall which one it was. They were all the same; a fleet of blue Ford Everest’s. Then she headed back to the packhouse to find Jace pacing about in the foyer once more.

“Nora, may I have a word with you?” he asked.

“Go ahead,” she stated simply.

“In my office, please,” he stated.

Her eyes moved about the foyer. “Why?” she asked. “Is it necessary for you and I to talk privately? Have you done something you don’t want the pack to know about?” she countered.

“You make things more difficult than they need to be,” he muttered.

That stopped her from walking, even as she heard Matt chastise his own Alpha, before she turned her eyes on him. “Jace don’t approach her like that,” was the reprimand from his own Gamma.

Too late, she thought as her eyes landed on him, “I’m the one that made things difficult between us?” she asked right back. “Do you want me to list out all the things you did or haven’t done and see if it was truly me that made things difficult between us.”

She watched him realize his own mistake and huffed, “No, I’m sorry I shouldn’t have phrased it that way. I

wanted to talk to you about getting you a car is all.”

“Oh, I see the mechanic just mind–link to you about what I said, did he?”

“Again, I can only apologize,” he admitted. “But he also said something about you not having a pack card. That is a lie. I’ve previously checked on that and one was issued.”

She raised an eyebrow at him. “I think I’d know if I had ever gotten anything from you. Your accountant lies to you, or you’re lying to me to save face. Let me make this perfectly clear to you. You have never once given me anything. Until just the other day, Oh wait, no you didn’t even get me flowers. I believe Alpha, they were for your Luna and I sent them where they were supposed to go. I’m sure she loved them.”

“I sent those flowers to you, you’re the one that sent them to the… to Gloria.” He told her, and she wondered just how hard it was for him not to say, ‘the Luna‘, when thinking about that she–wolf.

She snorted, “Nearly caught you out, didn’t I? You just had to check yourself in front of your own Mate,” she shook her head. “Yes, I’m being difficult, but if everything was reversed, Jace. What would you do in response to it? Would you sit and patiently wait for your Mate to figure out what they’d done wrong and come and

apologize for the hurt and pain.”

She saw him stare at her now, his eyes a little wide as it actually dawned on him what she was saying, because no, he wouldn’t have stood for it, and she knew it. So put it into words for him, “No Alpha would put up with what I have, so think yourself lucky. I’m still here thinking about even considering working it out. That I’m not thoughtless or… heartless, even though that is what you are to your own Mate.” she grated out and

walked off upstairs to go back to her room.
