Jace
His beast was ripped out of him and roaring in pain as they watched her drive away from him. He’d stupidly gotten angry with her once again and grabbed a hold of her, likely bruising her once more. He couldn’t seem to do anything right where she was concerned.
He really was trying and couldn’t seem to get it right. He’d needed to know if her old Alpha knew what was going on, because that Alpha and his Luna had r.s.v.p’d they were coming to see the Luna Ceremony, and if they knew the truth of everything, he was going to look like a damned fool in their eyes.
He had just learned that her mother already knew everything. That was more than a nightmare for him. All his flaws and faults were laid out before his own Luna’s family. He could well imagine the looks he was going to get. Because they too had stated they would be coming to the Luna Ceremony.
He didn’t even know how he was going to explain himself to them. He was still struggling to get Nora to even
talk with him, and now this, physically hurting her once more. That was not going to help his cause at all.
Hydro was furious, so much so, he was now racing around the pack looking for something to hunt and kill
because he couldn’t kill his own human.
He’d been violently shoved to the back of his mind as pain had ripped through him. He’d understood the
words she’d been saying all along and today, she’d just told him she no longer loved him. That meant his
beast as well, and there was no containing his Alpha Wolf’s fury right this minute.
Everyone inside the pack right now knew that something was very wrong. They’d all have heard his wolf,
understood it was their Alpha and, what it was, a full roar of pain, and then moments later they would all have felt Nora leave the pack uncaring of his pain. It was likely they all thought a rejection had just taken
place with her leaving the pack like that.
He didn’t know how long his beast was out there killing wild animals, only that when he was shifted back he
was covered in blood and guts and had to make his way back to the packhouse on foot. The pack members that did see him, bowed low and backed away from him. No one wanted to be on the receiving end of an angry Alpha.
He showered in the mud room and pulled a pair of pants on, yanked a tee–shirt over his head and made his way to his office. He knew she wasn’t back yet, couldn’t bloody feel her, and despite the fact that his wolf had been out there on a killing spree, he’d been feeling for her return the entire time. Hydro was now just laying inside his mind curled up away from him. His beast had never been one to shy away from anything, certainly never curled up inside his mind like that before. Hydro kind of felt defeated to Jace.
He saw Gloria walking down the stairs with her group of friends, coming from the fourth floor and Hydro’s head lifted to look at her smiling and laughing, and anger funneled from his beast once more ‘Remove her, or I’ll kill her.’ his beast snarled inside his mind ‘It’s all her fault.‘
Jace couldn’t ignore his very angry beast, and though it wasn’t entirely Gloria’s fault, having her v 9 around, dressed like that, in beautiful clothes, and still residing not only inside the packhouse, but up on the fourth floor like a highly respected rank member, wasn’t helping him. Nora had seen him coming from the woman’s room just yesterday, and it had more than annoyed her. Even when he’d told her it wasn’t what it looked like, to Nora any interaction with Gloria was going to be seen as deceitful, because she truly believed

he loved Gloria over her, and it was his own fault that she believed that
“Gloria, my office now,” he rapped out, and saw her blink at the angry tone that erupted from him,
“Coming, Jace” She answered as he turned away from her it halted his steps instantly. She was still addressing him as if she was the Luna, and not just a pack member.
He turned and looked at her, as she continued to come down the stairs, smiling with her friends. He’d been going to do this in private, but it seems she still thought she was going to get away with everything. Well, not anymore. He waited for her to come down the stairs and heard the way she excused herself from those girls.
“The Alpha wants to see me,” she’d smiled right at them, and they’d nodded knowingly even.
“You are not to address me so informally,” he stated right in front of her social group, “I’ve told you, you’re now just a pack member like everyone else is. You will address me as Alpha or Alpha Jace.”
Her steps faulted, though only for a moment, and then she nodded. “Of course, Alpha, my apologies, a simple slip of the tongue, 60 years of us… well, being together, it’s hard not to, I will try my best to refrain.” She stated, and she had that Luna tone on full display “How may I help you?” she asked as she walked past him
headed for his office.
His hand landed on her arm in a tight, unforgiving grip, and he heard her gasp and saw her turn her eyes on that hand. He knew his fingers were digging into her arm, wanted them to. It’s how he’d always grabbed Nora after arguing with her or while arguing with her, after Gloria had said something to him that would see him go and argue with his own Mate.
“You’re hurting me, Jace,” she stated and grabbed at his hand.
“Jace?” he questioned instantly and yanked her back a step. “What did I just tell you?”
”
Her eyes were hard on him now, a flash of anger in them, not something he ever saw, but then it was gone in less than a few seconds as she pulled herself back to that Luna. She portrayed herself as, he supposed, Alpha please, I understand you and Nora fought again this morning, and you’ve been in a temper all morning, but please don’t take that out on me. I had nothing to do with it.”
“I want your pack card,” he stated, “right now.” he rapped out and when she blinked at him, he squeezed her arm even more, and she gasped in pain.
“Alright.” She muttered. “Let go, and I will get it out.”
He let go, and she pulled her handbag from her shoulder and opened it, rummaged through it as though she
couldn’t find it and frowned, then pulled out her card finally and held it out to him. It wasn’t the card he was
looking for. He knew she had Nora’s pack card and was going to expose her so he could have a valid reason to kick this she–wolf from the packhouse altogether.
He yanked the bag from her hand, and she gasped. “Alpha, there is no need for that, what are you doing?”
He upended her handbag contents onto the floor for all those now standing around to see, and then knelt
down and went through all the items and then the pockets in the bag. Nora’s Luna card wasn’t there; he
watched as a hand reached down for Gloria’s phone on the floor, in his peripheral vision, and tu o see Matt picking it up.
“That is my personal phone,” Gloria stated, “Not a pack phone.” She tried to snatch it from the Gamma’s hand
only to have him brush her off.

“I’ll give it back,” Matt stated, and removed the cover from the phone “After I show the Alpha what here

“Yes, and I was your Luna. It’s my card. States right there Luna on the card, not Nora She stated t was collect the Luna’s card from the accountant, as per his instructions. I just assumed it was my new one is

He turned it over and pointed to the words on it, “Luna Remmington.” He grated out, “is that you? : fu title was always Acting Luna Romano. And I believe your pack card, he pointed to it, states ALG Parano
“I just thought you were trying to show me you still cared Jace. We were together for so long, and was s in the seat of Luna, and even though you brought a Mate home, you and I well…” she smiled at him “We were still in love. I thought it was you just making sure I understood I was still your Luna is all”
“You’re out of your mind,” Matt snapped.
“Am I?” she asked. “Because I was still the reigning Luna until a few days ago, still on his arm even
“That card was for Nora, and you knew it, that’s why it’s hidden from sight. You didn’t even give Nora the paperwork to fill out like you should have.”
“She’s your Mate, I figured you’d do that if you wanted her to have one,” she shrugged.
“It’s your job as the…” he snapped his mouth shut and saw her smile, and snarled at her. He’d nearly just called her the Luna. “It was your job as the acting Luna to sort that out. It’s always been something you did
So…”
“A mix–up is all,” she shrugged. “Perhaps Alpha, you should have overseen more things with your Mate, and maybe then you wouldn’t…” she shrugged. “Be fighting with her now.”
“Get the hell out of my packhouse.” He roared at her.
She snorted “Yes Alpha.” And turned to leave.
“No,” he snarled. “Move the hell out of the packhouse.” Her eyes turned on him now wide with shock. You see, have just deliberately taken… no, have stolen something from my Mate, that is fully punishable.” He smiled at her. “Matt,” he stated all Alpha, gaining his Gamma’s attention.
“Yes Alpha.”
“Have her moved into the single’s dorm right this second, a ground–floor apartment, move others around if you have to, to accommodate my order.”
“Yes Alpha,” Matt stated, and was walking away, his hand curled around Gloria’s arm, pulling her along with
him a second later.
“You can’t be serious, Jace.” Gloria gasped over her shoulder at him. “That is not a place for
“Isn’t it, your single aren’t you. Got no Mate that I know of.” He rapped out, “So it is the perfect place for a single she–wolf.”
She yanked Matt to a stop and glared at him. She was furious now and unable to hide it. “Ive held Luna Rank

for 60 years, it’s inappropriate.” She shot right back.
“Oh, if you’re unhappy about my order, why don’t I let my Mate choose where you will live?” he smiled nasty at her. “You might end up in the omega part of town. I’ll let Nora pick the shittiest s**t hole we got and shove you in it myself with her standing watching so she knows who I’m loyal to”
