Revenge served in a black dress (Nora and Jace) novel Chapter 63

CH 63

Jace

He could hardly believe what he’d just seen. His own Unit’s Mates all strolled past Nora. They didn’t even see her and he knew it. They were talking and laughing among themselves, and Nora actually bowed and stepped out of their way and not one of them saw anything wrong with it. She was his Mate and held the same rank

as him, but they didn’t see that.

His rage boiled over in an instant. It was no wonder she wanted to leave him. No one in this pack saw her as anything, likely not even his Mate he now realized. Well, he was going to fix that, and right bloody now, because it wasn’t just him that was angry at what he was seeing.

Hydro was in a filthy rage at the disrespect his own Mate was getting from who should be her loyal unit. They didn’t see her as part of their social group. That was clear, and to all in here watching on.

That threat to lash them was a reality. If they didn’t apologize, he would lash them all, uncaring of what his unit thought, they all knew he was struggling to keep Nora here, and now this, their own Mates being disrespectful to the Luna of the pack, she was marked and mated by him, so was not the future Luna was actually Luna ranked, and yet she’d bowed to them.

He knew they would all go right to their Mates with it as well, and for once he didn’t care. His own bond had to come first. It was above theirs for him, and his unit would have to understand and suck it the hell up. None of them had seen anything wrong with his behavior anymore than he had. They were all partially to blame for not pulling him into line.

Telling him how wrong he was and that what he was doing would destroy his mate bond with Nora. They should have seen it, Matt should have bloody picked up on it and hadn’t, and all because Gloria had been by his side for so very long that no one saw anything wrong with it. Nora had accepted it when she’d gotten here, and told him she understood why he had an acting Luna even, so it was fine as far as anyone knew.

He was going to bed in the Alpha Suite with Norá every night, so it looked as though everything was fine. No one had bloody noticed she’d suddenly stopped being around him. Everyone was to blame as far as he was concerned. They were all mated and should have told him to pull his bloody head in and lay it all out for him,

just what he was doing.

He’d turned into his father without even realizing it, only where his father had continued his behavior. Jace was trying to change himself and fix it. Right his wrongs and show Nora she came first, that there would be

no other but her, ever again.

He walked her all the way to Zelda’s, and she let him rest his hand on the small of her back the entire way there. It could only be a good thing. He’d not been allowed to touch her at all yesterday, and he wondered if him rounding on not only his unit’s mate about disrespecting her, but on Gloria herself, telling her she could leave the pack if she didn’t like seeing them together, in front of everyone, had maybe seen her realize that he was actually trying to be a better Mate.

He stopped at the store and looked at her, smiled down at her gently and then opened the door for her to step inside. I’ll be gone for most of the day, but be home in time for dinner. He told her I would like to have a meal with you, just the two of us and though.” He held up a hand to what he knew was go objecting to it, she wasn’t ready I know you’re ready for that, would you perhaps sit with me our table for

dinner this evening?he asked

He needed to start making the pack see her not only as his Mate but as his Luna, and to do that they all

this

needed to see them together. Eating a meal was the easiest way for that to happen. Or sparring at training, but her being wolf less most of the time, that was out of the question, she’d wind up covered in bruises

1 don’t think I’m ready for that.she shook her head.

Alright. He nodded. He could only try a little each day and try and make progress, give her what she wanted Have a nice dayhe stated and waved her inside the store. He looked up to see Zelda right there waiting for her. Anything she wants, clothes, jewelry, shoes, whatever it is Zelda on my account

Of course, Alpha. She nodded and then smiled at Nora. Luna, I’ve set up several things for you to look at.

Please come in and sit.

He smiled as he closed the door. Zelda would call her Luna the entire time she was in the store, and he could

only hope that it would start to solidify her position within this pack. That she could see some of the pack knew not only who she was, but what her title was as well.

He returned to the packhouse and a very unhappylooking Alpha Unit. He was actually expecting it and raised

an eyebrow at them, What else was I supposed to do? Let it slide when she bowed down to them and

stepped aside for them to pass her, and they didn’t even recognize her, not even as my Mate. Looked right to Gloria. When Gloria is the issue, have you not spoken to them and told them to be careful and make sure to

show respect to Nora?he asked the three of them.

You bruised Marcia.Mark shot at him.

Yes, like I bruised my own Mate yesterday for what I thought was disrespect. Marcia can suck it up, her wolf

will heal her in an hour or less. Nora, on the other hand, still has the bruise.

Don’t turn into a brute, Jace. Stop taking your anger out on everyone else when you have no one to blame

but yourself.Mark snarled at him. If you want to beat the hell out of someone, take Gloria to the training

ground and beat Gloria. She actually deserves your anger aimed at her,Mark snapped, and stalked off.

Matt and John were just staring at him, as he stood there debating if he should beat his own Beta for the disrespect he’d just gotten. In the end, he let it go, because he had injured the man’s Mate, and that was something no wolf liked at all. He was also dealing with it. Jace knew, because if it had been anyone of

lesser rank than himself, Mark would have beat the hell out of them himself. It would even be expected of

him to do so.

I’m going into the city, either you lot are coming with me or I’m going on my own,” he stated and walked into

his office.

Jace, you need to apologize to Mark, Matt sighed. Our Mates have just followed your lead, our leads where Nora is concerned. They likely didn’t even consider it was wrong, because no one here considers it wrong.

And that’s the very problem I’m trying to rectify. The pack, seeing me pull even your Mates into line, shows them just what will happen to them if they continue to disrespect Nora and not show her the proper courtesy she is entitled to. That begins today, no one from this moment forward will get away with disrespecting her.”

Do you include yourself in that?Matt asked.

Jace turned and looked at him. What the hell is that supposed to mean?

Well, if I feel that Nora thinks you’ve disrespected her, or she’s yelling at you about something you did that

hurts her feelings, that means in her eyes you’re disrespecting her, we take down to her 50, we p accept punishment from one of us for you doing that to her? if its a lasting for the back menters, for o own Mates, and us, I imagine Will you Alpha, have Mark tash you for the very same thing

Jace stood staring at his Gamma now, as he thought about that, because as much as he was treg to make amends. He’d lost his temper with her just yesterday, so it was entirely possible, with at Gloria had ingrained into him over the past few months, that he might just do it again. Nora seemed to know yet how to push Ris buttons and raise his anger as well as make him feel guilty

He saw Mark walk into the room. The man still looked mad to him. Yes, I will. There will be five lashes for anyone that disrespects Nors from now on, regardless of rank. Including myself, if I make my own Mate upset or angry with me, Mark will lash me with the cat of three tails as I will any pack member from this moment forward.

He saw Mark openly stare at him, look to the rest of the unit and then back to him. He knew he’d missed something, but then just nodded at Jace as if he was accepting of the order he was given. I make it official, he stated to his unit with a nod. He would hold himself to the same rule he was going to enforce upon the

pack.

Jace connected himself to his unit and then Nora herself, before connecting a packwide mindlink to everyone else and, for the first time, Nora didn’t reject it or try and stop it. Things he knew were in fact finally starting to head in the right direction for him and her. He was going to be able to bring them back together

I, your Alpha, have a formal announcement to make. After what I just witnessed in the pack dining room, anyone showing disrespect for my Mate, who is your Luna, Luna Nora: He clarified for them all will receive five lashes with the cat of three tails, regardless of rank or standing within this pack. I will not tolerate any further acts of disrespect. I will hold myself to that very standard. If I am seen being disrespectful or, in any way, talking down to my own Mate, I will receive five lashes from the pack Beta myself!

He could feel the shock rippling through the pack at his own words, that he was willing to take punishment for hurting the Luna’s feelings. He dissolved the link and looked at his unit, and they all nodded at him; it seemed they were happy with his decision. Nora, herself also now knew that he was willing to be lashed if he stepped out of line where she was concerned.

If this didn’t contain his anger or dismissiveness, then nothing would, and he truly wasn’t worthy of her love and affection, or of the bond that had been gifted to him.
