CH 74
Nora
She showed her parents to the suite next to hers and they both turned and looked at her after the door closed. “Sweetheart, the scars?” her father asked.
“I have plenty to remind me why I’m leaving.” She told them simply.
“You’re hands?” her mother sighed. “They weren’t like that the last time we saw you.”
“Hmm. It wasn’t long after I came home from that week, I spent with you all. Rosa and I lost it completely and tore our way into the Luna’s Suite. Because that’s where she resides.”
“Who resides?” her father frowned deeply.
“The she–wolf Jace loves. Her name is Gloria. She and he have been together for 60 years, 1” she shrugged.” Am just here to make him stronger and produce him an heir, something she can’t do herself, I don’t think, and that’s why he never officially claimed her.”
“That son of bitch.” Her father snarled out.
“Don’t concern yourself with it, I believe he’s finally succumbed to the Mate Bond, and I no longer really care
at all about it. He’s also kicked her out of the packhouse and removed her from the seat of Luna, all to get me to forgive him. I’ve not forgiven him, but he thinks I have, or will if he holds my Luna Ceremony and announces me officially, and pledges loyalty to me in front of everyone,” she told them as she sat down.
“You’re still leaving him them?” her father asked.
“Yes. I will not stay here and just be something he can have in his bed. He didn’t care about me, only his wolf did. I heard him myself, tell Gloria he loved her, and I was just the mate bond. It was only his wolf that loved me. I’m nothing to him.” she sighed “So he’ll not get to have me, and he’ll not have her, if I get my way. Which it’s looking like I will.”
“What are you planning?” her mother asked now.
“No, I won’t speak of it to anyone, sorry. He is alpha–blooded, and you’re both warriors so.” she shook her
head.
“You think he’s going to risk ordering it out of us.” Her father frowned now.
“Anything is possible. He made me bow down to him. I cracked my head on the floor and got a mild concussion.” She touched the pockmark on her head. “This is from him. A permanent reminder every single day of my life that he does not care or love me. It’s just the mate bond to him.
“I have a solid plan, and it’s already underway. Gloria knows I’m going to reject him and leave. She thinks that
when I do, he’ll turn back to her because she’s willing to take him back. But what she doesn’t know, is he
won’t. She’s already shown her true colors to him. That she told me all about the plans he had for me, and I believe her, considering all I’ve heard him say. He also never denied it, didn’t admit it, but couldn’t deny it
because it’s true.”
“And that would be?” her mother sighed heavily.
“For me to produce him an heir, and to have him and Gloria raise it after he rejected me and banished me
from the pack.
She heard the massive snarl rip out of her father and his beast once more, and put a hand on him to stay him. “It’s fine, I’m not pregnant, I’m also on wolfen birth control. The pack doctor put me on it after my last trip to the hospital.”
“How many times have you ended up in there?” her father muttered.
“Twice,” she stated, and looked at her hands. “Once after, Rosa and I destroyed the Luna Suite, and then the
one time over the ectopic pregnancy.”
“So, your dismissiveness over losing the pup. That was because you knew already what he was planning to
do,” her mother sighed.
“Yes. For the best that we lost it, both Rosa and I agree on that,” she nodded.
“Rosa?” her father asked.
“She’s here, she just won’t show herself inside this pack, happy to surface a few minutes after leaving it.
That’s why you always sense her when I’m with you. She’ll be coming forward tomorrow for the rejection of Jace Hopefully to see the punishment of that she–wolf, that thought it was okay to cling on to him
regardless that he had a Mate.”
“Hopefully?” both her parents stated together.
“Hmm. He’s yet to ever punish her for anything, not even attacking me in full view of him and his unit,
something he had to stop himself, and got struck by her claws at that. He took her side because he still loved
her, so I was in the wrong. Apparently, I incited her into attacking me,” she kind of half shrugged. “Well, I
actually did, I wanted to make him have to choose between us. I guess it was my last–ditch effort to cling to
him; it didn’t work.” She shook her head.
“Then, well, she caused me pains of betrayal with him right there in front of me, and he denied it. She called
me a liar, said I made it up and he,” she shook her head “took her side, effectively calling me a liar as well.
Even though his unit was right there to see it happen, his Gamma sensed it and yanked Gloria off his arm.
Because she was actively touching him with the intent of being affectionate, and he liked it, I guess. That
was the day I ended up in the pack hospital for the first time.”
“Bloodlust?” her father asked softly.
“Nearly lost to it is what Matt told Jace, he kind of didn’t understand why, or could admit it to himself, that it
was his fault. I don’t know which, but I moved out of his bedroom when I got out of the hospital. He’s not
been allowed to touch me since. I threatened to reject him at one point when he was thinking about seducing
me, stated he could and yanked me into him. He let go very fast. After my threat, my words were resolute,
and he knew I wasn’t lying.
“I moved into the room next door to this one when he destroyed my phone while I was waiting for my exam
results, yelled at me about being disrespectful and childish, that I’d never see a Luna Ceremony, which I
already knew. That was it, the day I’d truly had enough and just packed up my s**t and moved on out of the Alpha Suite altogether. Been here ever since. A month today, actually.”
“And you standing next to him today?” her mother sighed.
“A lie, to keep him believing I’m going to accept him at the Luna Ceremony tomorrow, and forgive him is all. He does not deserve me; I don’t think he deserves a Mate at all. He certainly doesn’t know how to tre

right. So, again, she shrugged
“I’ve allowed him to apologize multiple times. Ive yelled and screamed at
some
reject me at will so he could be with Glone on more than one occasion. We wted the pesting and screaming and eat and listened to him take 1 was starting to come wound
Stinse 1 laid it all out for him, all he’d done, and everything he’s made me fest, and he’s got quit now actually s he understands what he did wrong. He’s hoping his pledge of loyalty to me tomorrow will see Roses come
back.”
“So, he thinks it’s all good” His father frowned at her
“Mm, yes, I dragged it out a lot, and he kneeled before me at one point, down on both kneed and bowed his head. Still, I don’t care.” She shrugged, “It’s far too late.”
“So, he bloody should.” Her father grated out. “How much does Alpha Clayton know?
“Enough to know I’m rejecting Jace and leaving him. He’s even paid for the gap and accommodation at Rice University, I’ll be moving on campus. I’m allowed to move in on Friday” She told them, He, I believe, is coming here to make sure Jace can’t stop me from leaving. Did mum show you a picture of the dress I picked over
she changed the subject.
He nodded “She did. She also told me you won’t be coming home, but you just stated you’re coming back to
Texas.”
“Yes, but I’ll be living on campus full–time and Jace never bothered to ask about my studies or where they are or not until recently. He’s likely seen all the math, physics and chemistry books, but lots of degrees use those. I’ve steadfastly not told him what I’m studying since he’s brought it up. Not even now, when he asks about taking the payments over. I just stare at him. I did tell him I had a scholarship, so he didn’t need to and
that is all he knows.
“I’m not going back to the pack because Jace could turn up at the pack if he decides to hunt me down and try to win me back. I’m not interested in him knowing where I am. And my studies for Architecture after my Engineering degree is complete aren’t in Texas, so I’ll be gone in three years after completing my masters. I’m aiming for Berkley for Architecture but have three back–up Universities, I’ll likely apply for everything out there
and see if I can get what I want. I’m hoping having a Master’s in engineering will help me to get into the
school I want.”
“Should do, especially with grades like you’re getting.” Her father smiled at her. “We’re so very proud of you,
Nora, even more so with all I’m now hearing that is going on in your life. It must be so difficult to deal with
that Mate of yours and focus on studying as well.”
“Hmm not really. I kind of turned to my studies to help cope, fixated myself on them, so I didn’t have to think
about anything else at all. I’m glad I had something to study in all honesty. If not, I might have just fallen
apart.”
“You’re strong and resilient Nora, he’s going to regret what he did to you.” her mother smiled at her a little.
“That’s the plan. I’m going to make something of myself, and then he’ll see what he truly lost, even years down the track. When he learns all I’ve accomplished in a few decades, it will really show him what he truly lost, not just a Mate and Luna for his pack, but a woman that can bring in the money and run a company. That I don’t need him, never needed his power or money.”
