Revenge served in a black dress (Nora and Jace) novel Chapter 77

CH 77

Nora

She’d gone downstairs and walked into Jace’s office with her mother trailing her. She rapped lightly on his office door Jace. She’d addressed him informally, something she knew he would like.

He’d looked up at her. Yes, Nora.

I just thought I’d let you know. I’m going into the pack’s town to do some shopping with my mother, she told him.

What is it that you need? Perhaps I can call ahead. He offered with a smile.

No, nothing like that. I’m just going to buy a dress for dinner this evening. You stated it was going to be cocktail wear, and mother here tells me I should dress up for the occasion.”

Goodness Jace, I looked at the dress she has picked out for dinner andand she shook her head. Not what I would call a cocktail dress.

Hey, I like that dress. It’s actually my favorite, you know, stop picking on it,” she frowned at her mother, and I look good in soft blue.

She saw her mother roll her eyes and Nora turned back to Jace, “I also wanted you to know that everyone will be attending dinner. I’ve had words with my father, and so has mother. He will behave himself.

He nodded at her. You do look good in soft blue.He smiled at her, turned my head the day you walked down the stairs in that pretty blue dress. Is that what you’re thinking of wearing?

It was, until mother practically pitched a fit over it.she huffed and shook her head; she was going to really be playing the role of them getting back together from now on.

Well sweetie, I can see you two have worked on your relationship and…” she looked at Jace for a moment. All I want is for my daughter to be happy, she is I see. So, I will let the things I heard go.She turned back to Nora. But that dress, Nora, is not at all a cocktail dress, not even close. Just a nice summer dress is all.she shook her and looked at Jace once more, So I’m going to buy her a new dress, and make sure you see her all dolled up for dinner.”

Jace smiled right at her mother. Thank you, I will do my utmost best to keep Nora happy always. He told her and then looked at Nora and smiled at her, Any dress will be fine with me. I’m certain you will look stunning in everything.

She smiled at him and nodded. We’ll see you at six, I believe Luna Nelly is down for a nap,she chuckled.

Hmm, pregnancy does take a toll on one, and being tired happens, especially with an Alpha Pup.

He nodded. I’m certain Clayton is right now laying next to her using her needing a nap to cuddle her for no reason,he smiled. I will do that myself when we have pups I’m sure.

She just nodded, We’ll meet you in the dining room,” she stated, and walked off with her mother through the pack to buy a nice dress, to look really nice for the evening’s dinner. She walked into Zelda’s store and smiled at the girl behind the counter and then perused the racks with her mother.

Who held up many dresses for her. She shook her head at the tight bodycon dress that would hug her from neck to knee but left her arms bare for the touching. She waved off any chiffon gowns. that were held out to her. She always saw Gloria in those, so that was a no in her books, and she said no to everything in red or maroon. She was not going to be wearing them either.

She pulled on a nice floorlength dark blue lace dress, with a deep Vline neckline, which also had a split that went all the way up to her high thigh. It had long lace sleeves. Most of her would be covered, so there would be no incidental skinonskin touching during dinner. She was certain she was going to have to sit next to Jace at dinner, and he was going to try and display their bond had regrown to all in the room.

She also knew that Jace’s favorite color was dark blue. She told her mother that, while looking at the dress, her mother was now holding up: a soft blue kneelength dress that was off the shoulder and had a lace top and satin pleated skirt. Her mother looked at her and smiled. Then sweetheart, dark blue it should be. I’m certain he’ll love you in that, and it’s formfitting, so it will show off all your curves.” Her mother chuckled and put the dress she was holding back on the rack.

That it does but also covers all of me at the same time, so, formal and respectful as well, I think I just found the right dress for a formal dinner, she stated.

Her mother paid for the dress, and it was bagged up, and they got lattes before heading back through the pack, to the packhouse at a casual stroll. They walked in the front door to find Jace standing in the foyer waiting for her. He smiled at her. May I inquire as to the color?he asked, So I may match myself to your dress.

It’s your favorite color, she smiled. Dark blue,” she told him. I think you’ll like it. No peeking now.she half teased him, and put the bag behind her back, and he chuckled softly himself, as he nodded in response to her playful tone. He did look happy right that very minute, and her playful tone only seemed to solidify he was getting everything he wanted.

He’s handsome when he smiles like that, her mother stated as they walked to the elevator.

A handsome devil he is,” she murmured softly as she pressed the top floor. Her eyes moved towards him out there. He was looking right at her, and his smile she thought was tinged with a little more than happiness at hearing her state that, he appeared to be looking at her with desire as

well.

That pleased her, and her mother shook her head at her when the doors closed, and she just

smiled back, Yes, I can do happy. She murmured softly.

I can see that. How’d you get so good at it?her mother asked.

Practice makes perfect. She answered simply, and the elevator opened. I’ll wear my new black shoes; they’ll go well with the dress you just bought.

Have you worn them in yet?

Yes, I often walk around in them, quite like them and I don’t want to be tripping over in them on

the night.

She walked with everyone down to the private dining room and Jace was standing just inside the room. He smiled at her as his eyes moved over her in her formfitting lace dress, and lingered a little on the split of the dress as it flashed her skin to him when she stepped. Beautiful,he told her. She’d pulled her hair up into a ponytail and curled it all, done her makeup and was actually dolled up properly for the very time inside this pack.

She even stepped over to him and stood next to him. She didn’t care that his hand curled around her waist the moment she did, and they were standing looking like any Alpha and Luna would be. He could have this one moment, feel truly happy tonight in her being his Mate, something he was going to remember for the rest of his life, she imagined.

His unit and all their Mates were already in this room and Jace had it appeared made a full effort. There were place cards laid out and a full menu card on each plate. He did seat her right next to him at the head of the table, pulled her chair out for her and everything. He was being the perfect

gentleman.

He even made a short speech to welcome all in this room to his pack for their first visit, and said he hoped that they would enjoy their time here, that they were free to walk about and look around tomorrow before the ceremony. He’d be happy to give them a tour in the morning if they wanted

that.

Luna Nelly shook her head. I’m not about to walk around. She leaned back in her chair and rubbed

her belly and several in the room chuckled. Though I will take extra dessert if it’s on offer.

You can have whatever you like.” Nora smiled at her. I can have cake sent to your room and have

it be there when you turn in if you like.

I would like that.she nodded.

It was a normal everyday dinner and pack chatter was the topic. She had spoken to her guests about this being a nice dinner, and to not antagonize any situation, to please just be polite and keep to happy topics. Her own father had frowned at her, but she’d smiled at him and told him, I’m fine, and I need Jace to see everyone is happy to be here, that you’re all willing to forgive him his errors as I am. Otherwise, things could go pearshaped, and she didn’t want that.

So far that was what was happening. Everyone was smiling and laughing, and she interacted with her parents and her former pack’s leadership and laughed and smiled. She didn’t even react when Jace touched her, just let him. It was just dinner, and she’d put up with far worse from him.

So him reaching out and moving her hair from over her shoulder, as the curls fell about when she talked or laughed, turned this way or that, to talk to those in the room she just let him do it, didn’t

care about it.

This was his night to be happy in their Mate Bond, and she was going to give him exactly what he

wanted: a happy memory to look back on for the rest of his hopefully miserable life. Or whenever

he came across her way off in the future and had that moment of recognition of who she was, and

was filled with regret about what he could never have.
