Nolan glanced at the screen in Eliza’s hand. Sure enough, there was no information about

Leo’s son.

It was obvious someone had deliberately erased those records so no one could find his photo or personal details.

Nolan’s gaze darkened.

Eliza, she said quietly, do you think there might be internal strife in Saint Corp that we just don’t know about?

If there was, it could explain a lot

like why Leo’s son might resent Wendy. Perhaps she had drained away the inheritance his father left him and even taken the CEO position that should have been his.

Don’t overthink it. We’ll know soon enough once we’re there.”

Eliza nodded. Hopefully things would go as smoothly as they imagined.

Meanwhile, Wendy had already arrived at Saint Corp headquarters. The entire company seemed to be waiting for her alone.

Clad in a long black dress, she carried herself with a mysterious, regal air that made it hard for anyone to meet her gaze.

Her aide led her straight to the conference room.

Inside, every senior executive was present, their expressions tinged with disdain.

After all, in their eyes, Wendy had returned like a beaten dog and had nearly dragged Saint Corp down with her. To them, she’d lost the ability to lead.

Ma’am, life in Westbrook must have been comfortable these past years?one of them said mockingly.

Seems you’ve forgotten all about us.

To you, family comes first. Why remember you’re still Mr. Cramer’s widow?

The barbs kept coming. If Leo hadn’t left everything to her the company included were sure their leader wouldn’t be a woman.

Sounds like everyone has quite a bit to say about me.

Wendy sat in the main seat as if nothing could touch her, her eyes full of contempt for them

all.

That look only deepened their irritation, but as long as she still held the reins, none of them dared to act.

What’s the matter? Cat got your tongues? Don’t know what to say or just afraid to say it?

They exchanged uneasy glances. All of them were simply waiting for Leo’s son to arrive and shift the balance. After all, he was the one who had called this meeting.

No need for anger.

That voice brought smiles to their faces.

The newcomer was none other than Cramer. At twentyseven, he exuded the calm authority of a mature man. His deepset eyes seemed to see right through people, his features sharpened by his mixed heritage, his tall frame impossible to ignore.

Wendy wasn’t surprised

she had expected this little bratto block her here. He wanted to

take her power, and she had no intention of letting him.

Well, my dear son, what brings you here today? By rights, a general manager shouldn’t be attending a meeting of this level. Shouldn’t you be home, collecting your paycheck?

Until now, she’d left him alone precisely because his position in the company was low. But if he wanted to seize her authority and even call a public meeting to do it, that was another matter.

Ma’am, you’ve been away from Saint Corp for years, working remotely. Things here aren’t as you imagine. Starting now, I’ll be taking your place.

Cramer stepped up to her, his tall frame casting her in shadow, his gaze bearing down on her from above. This seat, his eyes said, was never hers to begin with.

Wendy’s gaze turned cold, but Cramer didn’t flinch. If you won’t get up, I can help you.”

What gives you the right to tell me to stand? Do you have any idea how many shares I hold? The company is mine. The entire estate is mine. If you want me out of this chair, you’d better have a reason.
