The Heiress's Second Chance At Vengeance (Eliza) novel Chapter 566

Finished!

Vivian had never dared imagine a day when Cramer would seek out her cooking. Yet now he had not only asked her for soup, he had walked into her room himself.

Ms. Rivers, thank you so much. Without you, I could never have made this much progress with him.

Eliza smiled faintly at the girl’s joy. Remember, feelings take work. He may be paying attention to you now, but you mustn’t linger in front of him too often. He’ll think you have ulterior motives.”

Then what should I do next?Vivian asked.

Go home,Eliza said. Disappear from his sight for a few days. Let him be the one to fetch you back.

That’s impossible! He hates meand he hates my godmother even more. He’d never come to my family’s house to find me.

Vivian knew the rumors well enougheveryone said her godmother and Cramer despised each other, and she’d only been pushed toward him as a weapon for revenge.

But Eliza only smiled. Just do as I say. Leave the rest to me.

For the first time, Vivian made a choice with conviction. Eliza had guided her each time, and each time it had worked. This would be no different.

I trust you, Ms. Rivers.

She nodded solemnly and left.

Once she was gone, Nolan slipped from the next room into Eliza’s sitting room. You told her that for her sakeor yours?

Sometimes,Eliza murmured, I wonder if I’m a cruel woman. I’m using her innocence to achieve my own ends.”

Sending Vivian home was more than adviceit was an offering to Wendy. A sign of loyalty, to show that Eliza was indeed helping her foster daughter win Cramer’s heart. They had, after all, entered a fragile alliance with Wendy. Without gestures of good faith, the pretense would falter.

But she truly did want to help Vivian as well. In this world, there was never only good or evil.

The next morning, Vivian quietly packed her things and, without Cramer noticing, had a driver take her back to Wendy’s house.

Finished

Later, when Cramer awoke to breakfast, his face eased at the first bite. His appetite had been weak these past days, but the flavor was just as he liked.

The kitchen did well this time,he remarked casually. Where’s the cook?

The maids exchanged uneasy looks.

Why are you all silent?

Mr. Cullinan, this meal was from the kitchen. Shall we call the head chef?

Cramer’s brows knit. From the kitchen?

Yes, sir. Chef Wang followed the recipes Miss Vivian left behind. She said you enjoyed those dishes, so she wrote them down before she left.

His hand stilled. She left?

Yes, sir. Early this morning. We thoughtperhaps she felt you didn’t want her at the Cullinan estate. She didn’t want to be in your way, so she took her luggage and went.

The words had barely left the maid’s mouth before Cramer shot to his feet.

The secretary blinked, startled, as Cramer threw on a coat and strode for the door.

Mr. Cullinanwhat’s happening?

Prepare the car. I’m going to Mrs. Cullinan’s house.

The secretary froze. Their Mr. Cullinan had never once set foot in that place of his own accord. What had changed?

Not only the secretaryall the maids who overheard stared in shock. Mr. Cullinan, storming off to Wendy’s estate? Hadn’t they always been bitter enemies?

But Cramer had spoken, and there was no room for argument.

Soon the car pulled up at Wendy’s palatial estate.

Standing before the opulent gates, Cramer hesitated for the first time. Back home, he hadn’t even thoughthe’d only felt the urgent need to come.

Now, faced with Wendy’s domain, doubt crept in. Why had he rushed here?
