Narissa stayed silent, her eyes cold and sharp She thought, Alright, Bastien, so this is how you want to play it? Trying to force me out?

Damn it!

Octopus said, Boss, we have to figure out a way to rescue Seahorse.

Our team’s already small, and you’re the one holding us together. If we lose Seahorse for good, it’ll shake us to the core.

We’re serving the country in ways we can’t even talk about. Even if the whole world suspects us, we can’t tell them the truth. If something happens to Seahorse now

That was exactly it.

As a legendary thief, Narissa never stole for her own benefit.

It was all for her country. She had no choice but to use her skills to take back what rightfully belonged to Rothialand.

Whenever her team took on these extra missions, they couldn’t rely on their military status. They had to act on their own.

Now that Seahorse had been captured, there was no way for him to clear his name, unless one of his comrades could break him out.

If not, he was doomed. There was no way he’d make it out alive.

He’d die under the condemnation of the masses, spat on and hated by everyone, just like those comrades she had lost before.

Narissa had always been the type to fiercely protect her own. After all these years, these few teammates were all she had left.

Each one was more than just a comrade. They were family. If anything happened to them, as their leader, she’d never be able to escape the blame or forgive herself.

Narissa swore, Trust me, I promise I will get him out.

That’s a relief, Boss…”

After hanging up, Narissa’s face was as cold as a block of ice.

This time, Bastien had finally hit her bottom line.

Narissa, Octopus, Seahorse, and a few other teammates were all orphans who had grown up together.

From a young age, their extraordinary talents were discovered, so they were brought to a secret base for rigorous training.

Narissa spent her whole childhood with these friends.

They ate together, lived together, trained together, and grew up side by side.

Their bond was even closer than that of real siblings.

Since Narissa was the only one among them who could do it all, the others practically worshipped her.

They treated her like their queen, swearing loyalty and willing to risk everything for her.

They would even trust her with their lives.

Narissa treasured this bond deeply, so even knowing this was a trap set by Bastien, she’d still dive in headfirst without hesitation.

The reason was simpleshe’d never abandon her family, not until the bitter end.

That night, after everyone in the Everton family had fallen asleep, Narissa slipped into her black leather outfit.

She used a disguise technique she hadn’t touched in years, transforming her face into the same alluring, seductive look she’d worn at the auction.

Once she was fully prepared, she silently left the Everton family villa and made her way toward the military district in the north of the city.

During her time at the Everton family, Narissa had made good use of her stay. She’d secretly stashed a motorcycle in a hidden corner.

After leaving the villa, she retrieved the hidden bike and raced through the night, the wind whipping past her.

As she got close to her destination, she stashed the bike again and took off on foot.

She darted through the night like a crimson butterfly, weaving between buildings with the coolest moves.

One second she was sprinting across the rooftop of an apartment building, the next she was dropping like she was in freefall, landing steady as ever on a tree branch.

Narissa dodged every camera, using the map in her head to cut straight toward the military district.

Right then, she swung from one building to the next, moving so fast she was practically invisible.

But in one of the apartment buildings, a little girl who couldn’t sleep pressed her face against the window and caught a glimpse of Narissa swinging by on a rope.

Wow!the little girl gasped, her eyes wide with excitement.

She turned to her mom, who was making the bed, and shouted, Mom, come look! A fairy just whooshed by. She’s amazing!

The mom replied without even looking up, Oh, honey, you’ve been watching too much TV. You and your wild stories!

Mom, I swear there’s a fairythe little girl protested, still pointing outside.

The mom slapped the bed and said, Get over here and go to sleep!

Narissa had no idea about the little scene she’d left behind her mind was set on the mission as she finally arrived at her destination.

The military district in the north was sprawling and so wellhidden it was almost invisible to outsiders.

The place was locked down tight, guarded with the strictest security.

Even elite foreign agents would find it nearly impossible to get anywhere near this place.

Surveillance was on a whole different scalecameras blanketed every inch, leaving not a single blind spot.

Everyone was intimidated by this place. Nobody dared to get close.

But Narissa defied all common sense. Not only did she come, she went straight for the hardest place to break into, which was the intelligence division.

The people there were masters at catching even the smallest slip. They guarded their turf so tightly that not even a fly could slip through the cracks.

Even someone as formidable as Narissa might not make it out of there in one piece.

But Narissa had no choice.

If she didn’t break Seahorse out, once they decided to hold him responsible, it wouldn’t matter who he was. He’d be punished.

At best, he’d be locked away for life. At worst, he’d be executed on the spot.

Either way, Narissa wasn’t about to let that happen.

This whole mess started because she’d let her guard down and sent Seahorse to fetch the Blood Ruby. In the end, it was her slipup that got her teammate exposed and captured.

She had to own up to it. This was on her.
