Chapter 115
Narissa’s blunt words immediately earned her a sharp retort from one of the girls. “Who are you calling incompetent?

“I think you’re just scared and worried about being laughed at, so you’re trying to drag us down with you out of spite.
“People like you are the rotten apples. If you don’t want to stay, then just get out and stop dragging down everyone’s morale!”
“Alina, that’s too much. Narissa was just trying to make us think realistically,” Skye quickly jumped in to defend Narissa.
But Alina Manning wasn’t having it.
She pointed at Narissa and said, “She’s insulting us, and you’re still defending her? Are you out of your mind!”
With that, Alina stormed off in a huff.
Skye leaned in close to Narissa and whispered, “Don’t take it personally, Narissa. Alina comes from a military family.
“Her grandparents and parents were all in the military, so she really looks down on people who are afraid of dying. She doesn’t mean any harm.
“But honestly, her skills are second to none. Out of all of us, she’s the strongest–it’s just that her temper can be a handful sometimes…”
Skye gave an awkward smile.
“I see.” Narissa, of course, didn’t care what someone so insignificant had to say.
She was here to rejoin the organization and find a reasonable way to make Bastien completely abandon his suspicions of her.
She also needed a legitimate identity to continue carrying out the tasks assigned by her superiors.
“Alright, everyone, get to know each other. Skye, I’m leaving Narissa in your hands. Make sure she fits in with the team as soon as possible,” the officer said.
Narissa looked at the officer. “There’s no need to make any special arrangements. I want to participate in the selection competition with everyone else.”
Skye felt that Narissa wasn’t appreciating this opportunity enough. She said, “Narissa, you don’t have to do this.
“It would be so much better if you could just become an agent directly.”
But Narissa replied, “I don’t need shortcuts like that.”
If she was going to join the special agent team, she wanted to do it fair and square, relying on her own strength.
The officer was not opposed to Narissa’s competitive spirit.
He said, “In that case, when the next assessment comes around, you can all participate in the selection together!”
After all, capable people often had a bit of a temper.
He felt that it was a good thing.

With Skye showing her the ropes, Narissa quickly hit it off with the other three guys.
As for Alina, she was a bit of a loner. She kept her distance not just from Narissa, but barely acknowledged Skye and the others either.
Once training was over, they all headed to the cafeteria for a meal.
In the cafeteria, the five of them sat together and introduced themselves to each other.
“Alina, want to come sit with us?” Skye called out to Alina, who was carrying her tray.
But Alina didn’t even spare her a glance and just went to sit somewhere else.
Seeing that, Skye stuck out her tongue at herself in mock embarrassment.
“Don’t mind her, she’s just not a people person. I’m Leland Moss,” Leland said while flashing a grin.
He was the trendy type–super clean–cut, and that hair of his was so slicked back with gel it practically shone.
“Hey, move over, let me go first! I’m Cedric Lucas,” Cedric chimed in.
He had a total baby face, and when he smiled, he looked like an adorable puppy. It was healing just to look at him.
“Cedric? That name rings a bell,” Narissa said, raising her brows in amusement.
Everyone cracked up at that.
“Yeah, my name’s everywhere, right? I mean, my name is the most common name for characters in textbooks,” Cedric joked, totally owning it.
The group all burst out laughing with him.
“I’m Nigel Townsend,” the last guy introduced himself.
Nigel didn’t say much, but he looked honest and upright. His buzz cut made him look sharp, and he gave off a super steady, reliable vibe.
The three guys all finished their introductions.
Narissa reached out her hand. “Hey, I’m Narissa Everton. Nice to meet you all.”
The three guys each shook her hand in turn.
But when it was Leland’s turn, he held on a little too long.
He even grabbed her hand with both of his. “Narissa, I can read your fortune by looking at your palms, you know. Want me to tell your fortune?”
Skye shoved him away without mercy. “Back off! Stop trying to take advantage of Narissa.
“Narissa, if you ever need help, just go to Nigel or Cedric. Whatever you do, don’t ask Leland. He’s a total flirt, always trying to hit on any girl he sees!”
Leland protested, flustered, “Hey! Skye, stop slandering me. You’re ruining my reputation. I still want to get a girlfriend, you

know.”
Cedric leaned over to Narissa and explained, “Those two have known each other since they were kids.”
Narissa got it instantly.
‘No wonder they’re so close when they bicker,‘ she thought.

“Let’s eat up. This afternoon, we have a special instructor coming in to train us,” Skye reminded everyone after finishing her playful squabble with Leland.
Mornings were all about self–training, but in the afternoons, pro instructors would show up to teach them real agent skills.
The skills included stuff like disguise, foreign languages, mimicry, and even psychology.
That was just what happened in class.
