alone unless she let them join her for a meal.
Inside the elevator, everyone was still stressing about the compon in two days.
Gilbert asked, “Jaylen, if what Shanna said is true, we’re gonna be at a huge disadvantage against the people from Lunaris Academy. Are we really gonna lose to that trashy training center this time?”
There was a reason he called Lunaris Academy a trash heap.
Lunaris Academy would take in anyone, even the worst troublemakers who’d been kicked out of Regality Academy for their bad behavior. They’d just turn around and end up at Lunar.
Honestly, among the rich and powerful students there, hardly any of them were decent people.
It was straight–up a trash shelter.
These rejects were already pros at fighting, and now with some hardcore assassin training, bullying people just got even easier for
Jaylen said while glancing at Narissa with concern, “Well, we‘ Narissa’s side at all times these next few days.

“Those guys from Lunaris Academy always play dirty, and I’m worried they might try to ambush us.”
But Narissa didn’t seem fazed at all.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, Narissa made her way toward her room.
Right then, Cressida and her friends were already in the hallway, about to head to the restaurant for dinner.
When Cressida saw Narissa coming back with Jaylen and the others, she was fuming inside, but had nowhere to vent her frustration.
As soon as Narissa stepped out of the elevator, her eyes immediately landed on the hallway.
There were way more vases and decorative art pieces than before–it looked like someone had gone out of their way

Ignoring everyone else, Narissa started running her hands over the vases, ornaments, and paintings, feeling around as if something.

“Seriously, it’s so embarrassing!”
The others tried to stifle their laughter, covering their mouths as they snickered.
Cressida felt her own face burning with shame, so she marched over and snapped at Narissa, “Narissa, can you stop making a spectacle of yourself?
“Sure, this stuff is expensive, but the decorations at our place are just as good. Can you try not to embarrass us for once?”
Narissa just shoved past Cressida and, with a frown, kept running her hands over the decorations.
People around couldn’t help but start mocking her.
They said, “Check it out! She’s acting just like she has never seen anything nice before.
“These decorations are simply worth a few thousand bucks, but she’s gawking at them like they’re priceless antiques. It’s honestly hilarious,”

Another person chimed in, “Hey, don’t be so harsh. The Everton family’s loaded.”
“Narissa has just reunited with them, so she has no clue about this stuff.”

Someone else laughed even louder. “For real! If I were her folks, I’d want to crawl into a hole and hide. She’s totally embarrassing herself
out here.”
Those harsh words felt like needles pricking at Cressida’s heart, making her face flush with shame and anger.
She clenched her fists and marched over to block Narissa’s way.
Cressida snapped, “That’s enough, stop it already! Even if you don’t care about yourself, you should at least think about the Everton family. Can’t you see they’re all laughing at you?
“Aren’t you ashamed?”
Narissa turned and shot a look at the people who’d been mocking her.
It was just a casual glance, but it was enough to make those students drop their eyes in fear, their laughter instantly silenced.
By the time they snapped out of it and wondered why they’d been scared of someone they thought was just a nobody, Narissa was already back in her room.
“Hey, Narissa, wait up!” Gilbert called out, hurrying after her.
Before leaving, Jaylen turned to Cressida and the others and said, “You ever think about how, if you go back three generations, all your families were just regular folks too?
“So don’t go acting like you’re better than anyone else.”
That shut everyone up.
Cressida clenched her fists.
She wondered, ‘Why is Jaylen always standing up for Narissa?
“I knew him first before Narissa came along…
When Narissa got back to her room, she saw that Jaylen and the whole crew had tagged along after her.
“Hey, Narissa, if you like those decorations out there, just say the word and I’ll fill your whole place with even better stuff,” Gilbert said.
But Narissa didn’t respond. She just kept looking around the room, checking everything out.
It only took Narissa a quick glance around the room to spot three spots where someone had tampered with things and installed hidden
cameras.
She was sure they hadn’t been there the last time she was there.
Just like those vases and decorations out in the hallway, these were all just clever covers set up to hide the cameras.
Whoever did this was seriously pro. If Narissa wasn’t so sharp, she probably wouldn’t have caught on at all.
Narissa thought, ‘Who the hell did this? What are they really after?‘
Jaylen caught the look on Narissa’s face and asked, “Is there something wrong with this hotel?”
Narissa hadn’t expected Jaylen to be the only one besides herself to notice something was off. Almost without thinking, she found herself nodding.
Gilbert and the others burst out laughing.
He said, “Come on, Jaylen, Narissa, stop trying to freak us out, will you? This is a seven–star hotel–one of the top four in Sinney City! “Seriously, what could possibly be wrong with a place like this?”
