After the storm in his chest finally eased, Lewis forced himself to breathe and regain some semblance of calm.

Nina realized then that he had reluctantly accepted it.

She turned to Ronan, her voice apologetic. “I’m sorry. We were being unreasonable. Ronan, just follow the original plan. We’ll do whatever you say.”

“That’s good to hear,” Ronan said with relief, letting out a small sigh.

He brought over two cardboard boxes. “Inside each box are cards with room numbers. One person from each family will draw a card.”

Athena stepped forward for her family, naturally.

There weren’t many cards, just three or four. She reached in blindly, pulled one out, and Ronan announced the result: a family suite, complete with a child’s bed.

It was, without a doubt, the nicest room of them all.

Athena stared at the card in disbelief, a bright spark of joy lighting up her face.

Talk about luck!

She turned to Zaden and Teri, eyes shining. “This is perfect. We got the best room!”

A faint smile curved Zaden’s lips. “You really are lucky, Athena.”

Teri clapped her hands happily, beaming.

The three of them shared a quiet, comfortable warmth. But Lewis’s eyes never left Athena, dark and burning with jealousy.

Watching her speak so freely, so comfortably with Zaden, a surge of bitterness and envy boiled

inside him.

I never should’ve listened to Harriet’s poisonous advice. She told me ending things peacefully would leave room for reconciliation.

Lewis felt like his chest was being crushed, each breath sharp with pain.

Next, it was time for the others to draw.

The third family drew the worst room, and immediately started bickering, blaming one another. The other families tried to mediate, but chaos erupted briefly.

Worried he might make a scene, Nina stepped up instead of letting him draw.

“Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Belmont,” Ronan announced. “You’ve drawn the second–best room. It’s slightly smaller than the Storms‘, but the amenities are nearly identical.”

He glanced at Nina, who let out a relieved breath. She hadn’t gotten the top suite, but this was still excellent.

But before she could really relax, Ronan added casually, “And your room is right next door to the Storms–just one wall separates you. You’ll practically be neighbors.”

Athena’s stomach sank.

Just kill me now.

Moments ago, she had been reveling in her luck, and now it felt like her fortune had been wasted on this one draw, putting her right beside Lewis and Nina.

She would have taken the worst room if it meant being far from them.

She wanted nothing to do with either of them.

“Alright, everyone, gather your things and head to your rooms,” Ronan called.

Athena forced herself to take a deep breath, grabbed Teri’s hand, and walked inside.

The suite wasn’t huge, but it was fully equipped, comfortable, and practical.

Then Athena noticed the cameras everywhere.

This is insane.

Not an inch of privacy remained. She felt like she’d stepped onto a celebrity reality show.

She realized she would have to monitor every word, every movement.
