With a cold smirk, Beverly picked up her teacup and took a slow sip. Her voice was sharp as she muttered, “This isn’t enough. Athena is still walking around as Zaden’s wife. I need to do something more—”

Before she could finish, a tall figure appeared in the doorway.

When Beverly saw Zaden, she shot Daisy a quick look, signaling her to leave.

Daisy got the message and slipped out quietly.

Beverly straightened up, her tone haughty but stern. “Zaden, you came back at the perfect time. The whole scandal with Athena is spreading fast, and the gossip is getting ugly. It’s already hurting the Storm Group’s image.

“If your father hears about this, he might fly back right away!

“Whether she did it or not, things have already gone this far. Since your relationship with her isn’t that deep yet, it’s best to end the marriage now.”

Zaden stared at her, easily seeing through her fake concern. There was a flicker of triumph in her smile. His lips tightened into a hard line.

“You really want me to divorce her that badly?”

Seeing his dark look, Beverly tried to soften her tone. “Zaden, I’m doing this for your own good. Athena will only bring you trouble.”

She stopped herself from outright insulting Athena, pretending her words came from love and

care.

Zaden sneered sarcastically. “You’re doing this for me? Or just because you can’t stand not being in control?”

Beverly’s face turned stormy as she snapped, “Don’t talk nonsense!

After a moment, she composed herself and smirked.

“Yeah, I talked to Albas. But if Athena were truly innocent, none of this would’ve happened. Don’t even think about blaming me. I’m not taking the fall!”

Zaden frowned. “Last time, when you had Teri kidnapped, I let that slide …”

He paused, his voice turning icy. “But you do realize arranging a kidnapping is a crime, right? You could actually go to prison for that.

“I’ll deal with Athena’s situation myself. From now on, stay out of it. I don’t want us to become

enemies.”

Beverly’s face went pale, her eyes wide with shock.

She couldn’t believe her son would threaten her like that.

How could Zaden be so ungrateful?

She was his mother–the one who raised him! How could he talk about sending her to prison?

Heartbroken, she looked at him in disappointment. “Zaden, are you really going to treat your mother this way over that woman?”

Zaden’s voice was calm but cold. “I’m not treating you badly. You’re the one standing against me. If you stay out of Athena’s business, I won’t do anything.”
