Albas suddenly froze, staring wide–eyed at the young man on Athena’s couch. Recognition hit him like a bolt.

“You… you’re Kit!” he stammered.

Most people wouldn’t know who Kit was, but Albas had spent years trying to climb into high society. He knew every name worth flattering–and Kit was definitely one of them.

Athena hadn’t expected Kit to reveal himself so soon. Her tone turned cold. “I don’t know what happened to you two, but you brought it all on yourselves. If you think saying a few nice words will make me help you, then you’re dead wrong.”

With that, she shut the door right in their faces.

Kit chuckled from the couch, leaning back lazily. “So? Feel better now?”

Athena thought for a moment, then nodded slightly. “More or less.”

Other than being annoyed when the rumors first spread, she hadn’t really cared after that. The online smear campaign hadn’t affected her much at all.

Outside the door, Pandra was in a panic. “Athena won’t help us. What do we do now? Are we really going to go bankrupt?”

Albas looked defeated. “How does Athena even know the Rices?”

The Rices were one of the most mysterious and powerful families in Vlephia. With them backing Athena, Albas’s company was finished for sure.

He regretted ever listening to Nina.

It was all over.

Meanwhile, Beverly was practically under house arrest in the hospital. Zaden had taken her phone and restricted her movements. Other than being brought meals every day, she wasn’t allowed to go anywhere.

Today, she finally managed to get some news from one of the maids.

When she found out that all the dirt on Athena had mysteriously disappeared online, she was

“This must be Zaden! He’s completely lost his mind over that woman!”

She snatched a pillow and threw it across the room.

Then she stormed to the door–but as soon as she opened it, two men blocked her way. “Mrs. Storm,” one of them said flatly, “Mr. Storm said you need to rest. Your health isn’t good.”

Beverly slammed the door shut, shaking with rage.

Zaden had gone too far!

She sat back on the edge of her bed, trembling with anger, while the maid tried to comfort her. “Mrs. Storm, please calm down. Mr. Zaden is just upset. If you wait a couple of days, he’ll … ”

So that woman has him wrapped around her finger now?

Beverly refused to let Athena take control of her son. She would make sure that woman was thrown out of Zaden’s life for good.

She grabbed the maid’s phone and dialed a number. “Didn’t I tell you to keep going after Athena? Why did you pull everything down?”

Albas had been through hell over the past few days. Exhausted and humiliated, he saw Beverly’s name flash across his screen–and immediately hung up.

She hadn’t taken his calls when he begged her for help. Now that Blaise Group was bankrupt, she suddenly wanted to talk?
