When Bridget’s expression darkened, someone nearby couldn’t help but laugh.

“Bridget, what are you talking about? This is Mr. Hum we’re talking about. Do you think he’d make a mistake? Or are you saying Mr. Hum’s just flattering the Storms and trying to put down our family?”
Bridget froze, speechless.
If she agreed, she’d offend both families. Jerome would be furious, and Herman would be insulted, too.
But watching Dion’s earlier moment of glory turn into humiliation, it burned her up
Bridget was furious and unwilling to accept it.
Lewis’s expression darkened as soon as his son lost to Zaden’s daughter.
inside.
He knew all of Dion’s art and calligraphy had been taught by Athena. Dion had previously won several awards. His son had never lost to anyone.
But now, he had been defeated, and by Zaden’s child, no less.
A wave of anger and frustration soared in Lewis’s chest.
Damn it!
When the winner was decided, the guests quickly tried to ease the awkward tension.
“It’s just a friendly competition,” someone said with a smile. “No need to take it too seriously.”
“Yeah, losing once doesn’t mean anything,” another added. “With more practice, he might win next time.”
“But honestly,” a woman whispered, “that little girl getting praised by Mr. Hum is incredible. I remember him being extremely strict; he’s never complimented anyone before.”
The voices around the room blended together. Every word stung Dion’s pride. He couldn’t
stand it.
With a loud sob, he turned and ran away, crying.
Bridget panicked the moment she saw him go. She called out to her son. “Lewis! Dion ran off!

When the Alarics‘ side saw their rivals fall apart, their faces were full of smug delight. Just moments ago, Dion had been glowing with pride, earning Jerome’s praise. Now, he was deeply embarrassed.
One glance at Jerome’s dark, expressionless face made it obvious. He was completely disgusted with Lewis’s family.
Zaden stepped forward and said politely, “Mr. Jerome, I’m sorry that this happened at your birthday party. I hope you’re not upset.”
Jerome’s expression remained calm but tense. Of course, he wasn’t happy, but Dion had lost fair and square.
There was nothing to argue about.
He finally said in a deep voice, “It’s fine. Dion just needs to improve.”
The guests quickly followed his lead, trying to lighten the mood.
“Yeah, they’re just kids. No need to take it seriously.”
“It’s just for fun, really. Hahaha, both of the kids are wonderful.”
“Exactly! They’re both outstanding. My son couldn’t even come close to doing something like
that.”
Their words sounded cheerful, but everyone knew the truth. Teri had impressed them all–she was calm, gifted, and respectful.
As for Dion, that boy was arrogant, proud, and rude.
Lewis brought Dion back into the ballroom.
As soon as they stepped inside, he could feel the stares. The strange looks from the guests made his jaw tighten, and a wave of irritation rushed through him.
Ever since Athena had left, Dion had become an entirely different child–disobedient, emotional, and impossible to control.
Nina had no idea how to raise a child.

He took a deep breath to calm himself down, but when his eyes landed on Zaden–the tall, confident man in the tailored suit–his anger returned. Under the golden lights, Zaden looked even more striking.
He even drew admiring glances from the young women nearby.
Lewis’s expression turned cold. “Stay right here,” he said sharply to Dion. “Don’t show off and embarrass yourself again.”
Dion’s eyes turned red with frustration.
He bit his lip, unwilling to accept this.
