Bridget forced herself to stay calm and said to Lewis, “Lewis, let’s hurry and explain this to your grandpa!”
Lewis and Bridget dragged Dion over to Jerome.
Bridget clenched her teeth and said, “Jerome, I didn’t expect Dion to be this mischievous. He must’ve thought it was funny to make those fake photos. It’s all just a misunderstanding! I’ll make sure to teach him a good lesson later!”
One of the relatives sneered, “A misunderstanding? It looked pretty real to me.”
Bridget’s fists tightened. “Of course it’s a misunderstanding! What else do you think it could be?”
Her sharp glare swept across the crowd–a silent warning. For the sake of the family’s reputation, no one should dare spread gossip, no matter what the truth is.
Suddenly, the grand doors of the ballroom burst open with a loud bang.
Everyone turned. A woman stood in the doorway wearing a stunning gown, her makeup flawless and striking.
When Bridget saw who had just walked in, she grew nervous.
Panic washed over her face, and she shouted at the servants, “Get her out of here! Right now!”
Nina had shown up; of course, she had. The video from earlier was her masterpiece. She had come to steal the spotlight and take Athena’s place.
Before the servants could even reach her, Nina ran straight toward Lewis.
She threw herself into his arms and held him tight, tears spilling as she cried out, “Lewis, I can’t wait any longer! I’ve been hiding behind you for eight years, living under Athena’s shadow. I’ve had enough!
“You promised to make my identity public and make me your real wife! Athena isn’t even Dion’s mother. I’m the one who gave birth to him!
“I won’t let Dion keep calling her Mom. I’m his mother! You’re divorcing her anyway. Let’s take this chance and make it official!”
The entire room froze.
Everyone understood the words she said–but when put together, they hit like a thunderclap.

Eight years? Lewis had been with this woman for eight years?
And his son wasn’t Athena’s? His wife had been raising his lover’s child for eight years?
The guests were stunned. No one could process it.
Bridget, who had just been furious about Nina crashing the birthday party, now stood speechless at the revelation.
She had always believed Dion was Athena’s child. Years ago, Lewis had told the family that Athena was pregnant, and Jerome had reluctantly agreed to the marriage for the baby’s sake.
But now, her grandson was born to a lowly maid?
Athena wasn’t perfect, but compared to Nina, Bridget hated Nina with a burning disgust. Years ago, Nina’s mother had tried to climb her way into the family, too. Bridget had caught her just in time and thrown her out.
And now the daughter had followed the same path.
Her son had gotten a maid’s daughter pregnant, and that woman had given her the heir? It was unbearable for Bridget.
Bridget’s face went pale with fury.
She glared at Lewis, her voice sharp and trembling as she demanded, “Lewis! What does she mean? Is Dion not Athena’s child?”
Nina turned to Bridget with a proud, smug smile. “Dion is my son with Lewis,” she said. “Back then, I got pregnant. But since you refused to let Lewis be with me, he found a stand–in–a fake -to take all your anger in my place.”
Her voice dripped with satisfaction at getting her revenge.
Bridget had always looked down on her, always thought she wasn’t good enough for Lewis. But now, she was the mother of Bridget’s grandson. That meant Bridget had no choice but to accept her.
Soon, she’d finally be Lewis’s wife for real.
No more hiding in the shadows. No more being the lover in the shadow.
Bridget’s face turned white as a sheet at her words. Her vision blurred, and her body swayed like she might faint right there.
It felt like her whole world was collapsing.

Just as Nina was basking in her triumph, the doors to the ballroom swung open. A confident, clear voice rang out–sharp enough to silence the room.
“Of course I didn’t give birth to him!”
