Athena frowned and said flatly, “I don’t think mediation is necessary. I’m sticking to my decision. I want a divorce from Lewis.”

Lewis answered right away. “I don’t agree to a divorce.”

Harriet, sitting right beside Athena, exploded at his shamelessness.

She clenched her teeth in anger. “Lewis! What right do you have to disagree?

“You’ve taken advantage of Athena for years, lied to her all this time. Do you really plan to keep lying? Don’t you feel guilty at all?”

Lewis didn’t even glance at Harriet. His voice was cold. “I admit what I did. I know I was wrong. I’m willing to spend the rest of my life making it up to Athena. But I will not divorce her.”

“Athena, do you remember what I told you on the phone that day?”

He was reminding her of his threat. If she wanted to know where her daughter was, she couldn’t divorce him.

Athena’s face turned icy at once.

Harriet almost gagged with disgust.

His guilt came far too late, and it meant nothing. When the damage was done, he never showed an ounce of remorse. Only now, with everything falling apart, did he put on a show of regret- and nobody wanted it.

Harriet gave a cold laugh. “Fine, it’s fine that you don’t agree. We’ve already collected evidence of your affair with Nina, and all the other things you did. I’m sure the judge will make the right call,”

She shot him a look full of contempt.

“Athena’s biggest mistake in life was meeting you. If she hadn’t risked herself to save you back then, she wouldn’t have injured her hand. She could have become a surgeon. She gave up her career, and what did she get in return?”

Lewis’s brows drew together.

Athena had mentioned this before. At the time, he thought she was just trying to get his

attention.

But now Harriet was saying the same thing with so much certainty in her voice.

He snapped, “You’re making things up. When did she ever-”

Harriet didn’t waste words with him. She threw a document in front of him. “I don’t expect a heartless man like you to grow a conscience. But what Athena gave shouldn’t be for nothing.

“Take a look for yourself.”

Lewis picked it up, suspicious but tense.

It was a medical report, showing Athena’s treatment record. He checked the dates. It lined up with the time right after he was injured.

Lewis felt a wave of confusion wash over him.

After all these years, who had truly saved him back then–Athena or Nina?

Nina had sworn it was her. She claimed she had risked everything, taken the knife for him, and carried the scar ever since.

But now the evidence Harriet produced pointed to Athena as the one who had saved him.

Who was he supposed to believe?

Lewis frowned. “I really was attacked back then. Nina took the hit for me. She was in the hospital for a long time. It couldn’t have been Athena!”

Hearing that, Athena let out a bitter smile.

She knew all this had come from Nina, and Lewis had believed it without question. He had never once doubted her.

At the root of it, he simply didn’t believe Athena.

“What’s wrong? You don’t believe me?” Harriet let out a cold laugh, her face full of confidence. “I’ve got more than this.”

With that, she pulled out her phone and started playing a video,

She watched Lewis as he focused on the video. “It’s been so many years,” she said. “Things like this aren’t easy to track down. But when something truly happens, it always leaves a trace.

“Back then, someone had seen Athena covered in blood and secretly filmed a short video that was posted online. But the clip didn’t stir up much attention, and it soon faded away without spreading.
