Henry blurted out, “I’m not carrying on with Tiffany, and we’re definitely not a thing. She’s your sister, and I’ve always seen her as one.”

Alicia scoffed, her voice icy. “Really, you treat her like a sister? When we both fell into the water, she had someone ready to save her, but you just had to rush to her side–completely ignoring me, your girlfriend, who can’t even swim and had no one to help!

“You say she’s like a sister to you, yet you buy into everything she tells you and doubt me at every turn. And whenever we argue, you always make me say sorry to her.

“We both ended up in the hospital, but you spent every day fussing over her, visited her nonstop, and didn’t even bother to check if I was sick.”

Henry tried to defend himself. “You’re the elder sister, you’re always so mature and capable, always looking out for others, and you’re tough. I figured you didn’t need me to take care of you. But Tiffany… she can’t even look after herself. She’s so delicate. Of course, you have to step aside for her now and then.”

Alicia snorted, her words dripping with sarcasm. “So because I’m strong, I don’t deserve love or concern? And just because she’s weak, I’m supposed to apologize to her every single time, no matter who’s actually at fault?”

Henry opened his mouth, wanting to say something back–but nothing came out. He just stood there, silent.

By now, a crowd of people had started to gather and were whispering and giving Henry all sorts of looks.

A woman said in shock, “So he’s the one fooling around with his girlfriend’s sister, and now he’s trying to make her look bad?”

Someone shot Henry a disdainful look. “Seriously, what kind of guy wants both sisters for himself? Who does he think he is?”

Another one commented, “This dude’s the definition of a dirtbag–a real piece of work.”

Henry burned with humiliation, desperate to get up and run away, but he was stuck there kneeling–the pain in his knees made it impossible to move.

Alicia didn’t even glance his way. Without pausing, she turned and walked into the complex, the gate sliding open automatically as she passed through.

Outside, nobody paid him any attention. It was as if he didn’t exist at all.

He was kneeling there, the pain so intense he felt like death was knocking at his door. Just as he reached for his phone to call for help, a pair of handmade, expensive leather shoes suddenly came to a halt right in front of him.

He looked up, only to see Charles standing over him.

He hesitated for a moment, then whimpered, “Uncle Charles…”

Charles glanced down at the injury on his leg, his eyebrows pulling together. Turning to Kevin, who had come

along, he ordered, “Take him to the hospital”

Henry actually felt a little touched when he heard Charles tell Kevin to take him to the hospital. ‘Uncle Charles always acts like he’s got ice in his veins, but maybe he actually cares about his family, he thought.

Then he remembered–Charles had an apartment in this complex. If he could just stay at Charles’s place for a while, it’d be easy to come and go at Linen Bay Residences, and sooner or later he’d figure out exactly which unit Alicia lived in.

As soon as Kevin helped him up, Henry quickly pleaded, “Uncle Charles, didn’t you have an apartment here? Can I stay there for a little while?”

Charles replied coolly, “Someone’s already living there.”

Henry clenched his jaw. “Uncle Charles, I really need that apartment. It’s important. Could you ask your friend to move out, at least for a bit? I’ve got a place in the cast suburbs–maybe your friend could stay there instead?”

“I don’t think that’d be a good idea,” Charles said bluntly, shutting him down.

Henry suddenly burst into tears. “Uncle Charles, please, I’m begging you! My whole future depends on this- just help me out!”

Charles glanced over coolly, a hint of impatience in his voice. “So, what are you trying to do?”

Wiping his face, Henry sniffled. “Uncle Charles, you should know by now I’ve got a girlfriend, right?”

Charles cut him off with a frosty stare. “Or is she your ex?”

Henry shook his head stubbornly and gritted his teeth. “No, not my ex. She’s still my girlfriend. I never agreed to break up. She’s doing this for…”

He almost blurted out that Alicia was living the high life with some other guy, but then he remembered her calling him out earlier for not caring about her reputation.

He wondered, ‘Plus, my family never liked us being together. If Uncle Charles hears she’s been cheating on me, Dad and Mom would catch wind soon enough, and that’d blow everything up.

‘Honestly, I only said that kind of crap before when I was steaming mad.

‘I really do like her–a lot–and I actually want to marry her. It’s probably best to keep all our drama away from the family.‘

Henry bit back what he was going to say and switched it up. “She’s just pissed at me and crashing at her friend’s place to dodge me. Her friend happens to live here in Linen Bay Residences. I need to talk to her—it’s all just a big misunderstanding, and I want to clear things up.”

Charles fixed him with an icy, heavy stare–his eyes sharp with suspicion, clear he wasn’t buying it.

Henry felt a chill run down his spine under Charles’s stare. He swallowed hard and said, “I swear, Uncle

Charles turned to Kevin. “Go to the office and grab a file for me.”

Kevin blinked, a bit flustered. “Uh, which file do you mean?”

Charles shot him a look so cold it could make anyone freeze on the spot. Kevin got the hint right away- Charles was furious about Henry still bothering Alicia.

‘Man, Henry’s already doing whatever with Tiffany, and now he’s chasing after Alicia too? This guy’s seriously exhausting. Kevin thought.

He quickly responded, “Got it, I’ll head over right away.”

Kevin dropped his hold and bolted for the car without looking back.

Suddenly left without support, Henry’s leg flared up with pain, sending him crashing to the ground. “Come on, Kevin! Can’t you see my leg’s busted? Watch out, or I’ll ask Uncle Charles to fire you!”

Kevin didn’t even react to Henry’s whining–he just kept on walking, completely ignoring him.

Charles didn’t bother with Henry at all. He walked up to the building, the gate sliding open for him as he went

“Uncle Charles, you’re really just going to leave me here?” Henry whined after him, his voice thick with frustration. But Charles didn’t even glance his way. Left with no other choice, Henry ended up calling Patricia.
