Chapter 99
Meanwhile, Alicia walked out of the subway station, debating whether she should just hang around outside and wait for Charles.
Or maybe she could swing by the store for some groceries–her fridge was totally empty. It was going to be a chill weekend, perfect for staying in and painting. She figured if she stocked up now, she’d be set for tomorrow and wouldn’t need to step outside again.
Charles hadn’t shown up yet, so if she went shopping now, he’d probably arrive right about when she got back -seemed pretty convenient.
But then Alicia paused, ‘What if I get back late and Mr. Yates shows up early? He might think I’m blowing him off. I already told him I’d be here, and then I’m not even home?‘ she worried.
After a moment, she shook her head and thought, ‘Forget it, better skip the groceries for now. I’ll just wait and see why Mr. Yates wants to meet me!
As she mulled things over, Alicia headed for the entrance to Linen Bay Residences, not really noticing anyone around her.
Out of nowhere, someone grabbed her wrist.
Alicia jumped in shock and, reflexively, lashed out with her foot–aiming straight for the guy’s crotch.
Henry, clutching Alicia’s wrist, never expected her to react like that. Completely caught off guard, he hurriedly let go and stumbled back.
Alicia instinctively shifted to the side, instantly putting space between them.
“Alicia!” Henry growled, biting off each syllable.
Alicia finally realized it was Henry. Her brows knitted, she stepped back again, and didn’t bother to respond.
Henry closed the distance, standing right before her. “Alicia, seriously, how vain can you get? Is this place really worth it? Are you just squatting at some friend’s house? How do you not feel embarrassed living off other people all the time? Is it all just to win your little spat with Tiffany?”
He still refused to believe Tiffany’s story about Alicia being kept by some guy just so she could live there. In his mind, Alicia was just staying at a friend’s place.
Alicia looked at him coldly. “What’s wrong with you? Where I live is not your business.”
“Of course it is–I’m your boyfriend!” Henry burst out, his frustration boiling over.
“We’re not together anymore,” Alicia replied coldly.
“Alicia, how long are you going to act like this?” Henry scowled. “I told you before–I’m always going to care about you. Stop with the drama and just come with me.”

Alicia dodged his hand, her brows furrowing. “Henry, I already told you–we broke up. I’m not causing any drama. If you want to care about someone, go ahead, but stop bothering me, alright?”
Henry glared at her, anger flashing in his eyes. “Alicia, are you really, really breaking up with me for good?”
“Yeah, really. No doubts, no regrets–1 100% want to break up with you,” Alicia replied firmly.
Henry let out a cold, mocking laugh, his face darkening. “So Tiffany was right–you really do have some guy on the side.
“I didn’t want to believe it. I thought you weren’t that kind of person. But now… turns out I was wrong.
“Alicia, I treated you so well. I loved you with everything I had. Why would you do this? Why sneak around behind my back with another guy?”
As soon as he said that, everyone coming and going from Linen Bay Residences turned to stare.
Alicia was utterly speechless, wondering helplessly, ‘First it was Nora, now it’s Henry–these idiots just can’t help but start drama at the front gate of a fancy place like this?
‘Seriously, ever since I moved in, it’s like trouble follows me wherever I go..
‘If anyone ever figures out my exact apartment, Mr. Yates will probably be mortified.’
She glared at Henry, teeth clenched. “You better shut up and come with me.”
She didn’t want to keep embarrassing herself at the entrance, so she yanked Henry away, determined to drag him somewhere more private.
But Henry wasn’t about to back down. He was determined to embarrass Alicia so badly that she’d have no choice but to leave her pride behind and just follow him.
He planted himself there, chin held high and looking disgustingly pleased with himself. Then, dropping his voice, he sneered, “So now you care about your prestige, huh? Then come with me. Stop living here.”
He went on, heartfelt, “If you want to go back to the Lawrence family, just apologize to Tiffany–she’s all sweetness and light, she’ll definitely let you move back in. If you don’t want that, I’ll hook you up with a place of your own.”
Watching Henry threaten her, Alicia thought coldly, ‘Seriously, was I blind or what? How did I ever mistake this scumbag for Charlie?‘
Her gaze chilled, and without hesitation, she swung her hand and slapped Henry straight across the face. “You’re fucking shameless, Henry.”
Henry was stunned–totally taken aback.
He’d never been slapped by any woman before–usually, they were all just trying to please him.

He shot Alicia a furious glare, teeth clenched. “So you’re not even embarrassed? Great, just great…”
He took a step back, voice booming even louder. “Alicia, I’ve never done you wrong. I treated you better than anyone ever could, and you sneak off with another guy behind my back–just for a fancy place like Linen Bay Residences? When did you start caring so much about appearances?”
People started gawking at Alicia again, and she caught someone whispering, “Isn’t that the girl who everyone said bullied her classmate a while back? Didn’t they say it was a misunderstanding? And now she’s two- timing?”
“Oh man, there really are all sorts living here,” someone else muttered.
