Charles took a closer look at the diary. Every entry included the exact location where the events took place. By the time he finished reading, he could practically picture a map of the Lawrence residence in his mind.
When he finished, he suddenly smiled, thinking, ‘Alicia is really smart. She must have left this diary for me.
That explained why she had asked him if he wanted to come over and paint that day, saying she’d be waiting for him at home.
She must have known she’d be taken back by the Lawrence family that very day.
‘But what did the Lawrence family want with her now? They kicked Alicia out before. So why bring her back now? What’s really going on here?‘ Charles wondered.
Charles only knew that Alicia wasn’t favored by the Lawrence family. As for everything else, he was pretty much in the dark.
Charles thought back on how Alicia had left the Lawrence family.
It seemed like Alicia left on her own terms. So maybe the Lawrence family didn’t really want her to go. Maybe they wanted something from Alicia.
Charles had checked with the police earlier. They’d told him it was the Lawrence family who filed the report, saying Alicia had been kidnapped.
And then, as if by some twisted coincidence, the spot everyone tracked Alicia to suddenly burst into flames.
So it looked like the Lawrence family wanted Alicia dead, but it was someone else who ended up dead instead.
Charles wondered, ‘Did that mean the Lawrence family just wanted everyone to believe Alicia was dead? What are they really plotting?‘
He couldn’t figure it out just yet, but as long as Alicia was still alive, that was all that mattered. He needed to move fast and get her out of there.
Alicia had texted him yesterday, but he’d only gotten around to reading her diary today.
She must be getting anxious waiting for him.
Charles shot up from his seat, pulling his crew together to get ready for the rescue.
Meanwhile, the Lawrence family had already had a death certificate issued for Alicia, and erased her record at the local police station.
Hugh handed the death certificate over to Tiffany, saying, “Hold on to this tight. From now on, Alicia Lawrence officially doesn’t exist anymore. She’ll spend every day locked up in that dark, windowless basement painting for you.”

Tiffany clutched the death certificate, so thrilled that she was practically speechless.

She whispered, “From now on, I’ll be Mr. West’s student. Dad, does that mean I’ll really become a famous painter?”
“Absolutely,” Hugh replied with a smirk. “From now on, you’ll be Mr. West’s only student. I looked into it myself. He’s never had a student before.”
Tiffany blinked away tears of happiness. “Thank you, Dad.”
Hugh said, “This is only the beginning, Tiffany. Brace yourself. You won’t just be a famous painter. Soon, you’ll be a piano virtuoso too. There’s no telling how far you’ll go. You’ll be the genius girl and the Lawrence family will ride your wave to the top.”
Tiffany’s eyes sparkled with excitement. ‘From now on, I’ll be in charge of the Lawrence family. I won’t have to put up with anyone’s attitude anymore,’ she thought.
Aaron grinned at Tiffany. “Congrats, Tiffany.”
Tiffany flashed a big smile. “Thanks, Aaron.”
Hugh gave Aaron, Tiffany, and Maria a stern reminder, “From now on, whatever happened to Alicia stays absolutely secret. Just pretend she really died. Don’t breathe a word of it to anyone, not even Andrew or Archie.”
The three exchanged glances and nodded. Only then did Hugh look satisfied.
Andrew and Archie had been out and about for a while, but when word hit that Alicia had died, they rushed straight home.
They didn’t know a thing about what had actually happened.
Andrew burst inside and called out, “Mom, Dad, I heard that Alicia is really dead. Is it true?”
Archie waited anxiously for their reply.
Tiffany handed the death certificate to Andrew. “It’s true. Alicia is dead.”
As she spoke, she shed a few fake tears, putting on her best sorrowful act. “No one knows who was after Alicia. She was kidnapped and then burned alive. It’s just too awful. She was so badly burned. You can’t even tell who she was.
“She should have been laid to rest by now, but the police still haven’t found the killer. Her body is still locked up in the morgue.”
“I really feel so guilty. I shouldn’t have let things get so bad between me and Alicia. If she hadn’t left the Lawrence family, she might still be alive,” Tiffany said while wiping her eyes dramatically, playing up the guilt. “It’s all on me. Whatever she wanted, I should’ve just let her have it. I shouldn’t have fought with her back
then. Now…”
She bit her lower lip, trying her best to look like she was sinking into heartache.

Andrew felt a pang of sympathy and put his arm around Tiffany’s shoulder. “Don’t be so hard on yourself, Tillany. It was just fate. You couldn’t have done anything about in
Archie jumped in, trying to comfort her, “That’s right, Tiffany, She got involved with the wrong crowd and acted out because she was upset with everyone at home. In the end, she brought trouble on herself.
“Honestly, it’s probably for the best. She was always kind of extra, never really fitting into our family. Now, there are no more outsiders, and you don’t have to feel wronged anymore”
Hugh’s expression darkened at Archie’s words. “Archie, you need to watch your mouth when you’re outside. Alicia was your sister, whether you like it or not. Now that she’s gone, you should at least act like a proper brother. Otherwise, what will people think of our family?”
Archie scratched his head. “Dad, I know. I got it. I know what to say when we’re around strangers. But right now, it’s just us.”
