That was the very first time Alicia managed to break free from the Lawrence family. She had nothing in her pockets, and with the Lawrences hot on her trail, she spent days dodging here and there, nearly passing out from hunger-until those three girls stepped in and saved the day.

They took her out for a meal, and when they realized Alicia had nowhere else to stay, they invited her back to their art gallery.

Back in her last life, the girls owned an art gallery-not a fancy one, just a small place barely scraping by.

When Alicia finally escaped from Tiffany’s basement that time, she had a freshly finished painting clutched in her hands.

She ended up gifting that painting to the girls.

Alicia still remembered how shocked and thrilled they were when they saw the painting-they could tell right away it was by the Sweetheart Queen.

They kept thanking her, saying their gallery was about to blow up.

But in the end, Alicia never got to see their gallery make it big.

She got dragged back to the Lawrence family. Later, Tiffany told her she’d turned those three girls in for stealing the Sweetheart Queen’s painting. By that time, the Sweetheart Queen was already a famous artist, and her work was worth a crazy amount.

Since the painting was so valuable, all three girls ended up serving time.

Guilt gnawed at Alicia’s heart as she thought about it.

She never imagined she’d run into them again in this new life.

And just like in the past, they were as kind as ever, quick to speak up for her.

Her nose prickled with emotion, but Alicia couldn’t force a single word out.

Maria’s face twisted with annoyance as she snapped, “Who do you think you are? I’m having a conversation with my daughter-what gives you the right to butt in?”

“We’re the living embodiment of justice-the bringers of light, defenders of what’s right, and champions of all things good!” one of the girls replied with a playful grin.

Maria shot back, “Spare me the nonsense and stay out of our business.”

After snapping at the three girls, Maria turned to Alicia, her tone impatient. “You’re coming with me to the police station right now. You’re going to tell them you’ve decided to drop the charges against Silas and Tiffany.”

“No wonder Tiffany’s so shameless-looks like she got it straight from her mom,” another girl jumped in.

Maria had never been talked to like that before. Her hands shook with rage as she yelled at Alicia, “Alicia, you’re just going to let them insult your mother like this right in front of you?”

Alicia blinked mockingly. “Huh? You’re my mom now? Maria, the whole time I’ve been in your house you told me you’re not my mom and not to call you that. Did you already forget, or are we rewriting history today?”

Maria was about to jump in, but Alicia didn’t even let her. “And by the way, they’re standing up for me. Am I supposed to side with the people who hurt me, and attack those helping me? Sorry, I’m not part of the Lawrence family-I don’t come with your family’s ungrateful genes.”

“You…” Maria clutched her chest, looking like she’d collapse at any second.

Alicia shot to her feet, saying, “Maria, you might want to call someone before you faint-don’t go blaming me for it.”

Alicia didn’t waste another second on Maria-she got up and walked away without looking back, the three girls quick to fall in step right behind her.

Maria was left trembling with frustration, but there wasn’t a damn thing she could do. Fuming, she turned and stomped off, way too proud to start drama out in public-gotta protect that precious dignity, after all.

Once they stepped outside, Alicia turned to the three girls, her eyes a little misty with emotion as she offered a sincere smile.

“Thank you,” she said, her voice soft and earnest. That gratitude wasn’t just for today-it stretched all the way back to her past life. One “thank you” wasn’t enough for everything she owed them.

The girls waved her off with easy grins, one of them chuckling, “Come on, don’t mention it-we hardly did anything, really.”

Then, the girl who’d first stood up to Maria back in the café scratched her head a little sheepishly. “Actually, running into you outside school with Mrs. Lawrence today wasn’t just some random coincidence-we were really here to look for you.”

“Me? You were looking for me?” Alicia’s eyes widened in confusion. “Did you need something?”

The girl suddenly put on a totally serious face and stuck out her hand. “Nice to officially meet you, Alicia. We actually run a little art gallery together, and we were hoping to talk to you about maybe working with us—like, signing with our gallery.”

She added quickly, “Don’t worry, we know you’re famous and we’re just a tiny place. This is only about your art. We’re not asking for an exclusive contract or anything that ties you down-just a simple, one-time license for these pieces.”

Alicia chuckled softly. “Why don’t we find somewhere to sit down and have a proper chat?”

The three girls hadn’t expected Alicia to be willing to chat with them at all.

They glanced at each other and could barely contain their excitement. “Awesome! Let’s do it!”

Since they were close to campus and Alicia knew the area well, she suggested a cozy, familiar restaurant she

frequented. Once seated, a server brought over glasses of water and handed them menus. The girls flipped through the pages quickly. When the server returned to take their order, each gave a brief response.

As he turned to leave, Alicia added warmly, “Just flag me down if you want to add anything else later, okay?”

The girls just smiled and shook their heads-they weren’t there for the food. They’d come to talk about the gallery deal, and the meal was just a casual backdrop.

As they waited for the food, they began introducing themselves.

“Oops, we haven’t actually said who we are yet,” one of the girls piped up with a grin. “Let me go first.”

“You bet.” Alicia nodded.

‘Funny how I don’t even know their names,’ Alicia thought, the weight of her past pressing down. ‘Last time around, they got sent to prison because of me. This time, I’ll remember them-I owe them that much!’

‘I’m going to do right by them in this lifetime,’ Alicia promised herself quietly.

“I’m Sara. Sara Hayes,” the girl said with a light giggle. “That’s S-A-R-A, not S-A-R-A-H. It’s just simpler that way.”

Alicia gave her a warm smile and reached out. “Hey, Sara!”

Sara grabbed Alicia’s hand, practically vibrating with excitement. “Hi! Sweetheart-oh, wait, I mean, you’re Alicia, not the Sweetheart Queen. So, hi Alicia!”

Alicia huffed out a soft laugh, unable to hide her amusement. Sara was just too charming-her flustered stammer, the way her face lit up even when she messed up her words, even the bright, cozy sweater she wore, all screamed “adorable.” There was no denying it.

Next, Alicia glanced at the girl sitting beside Sara. This one had big, cascading chestnut waves, fiery-red lips, and was dressed head-to-toe in leather—a total hot-girl look.
