“It’s fine. We’re interested in your artwork, not the Sweetheart Queen reputation,” Chloe said. “I’m certain most art lovers truly appreciate your paintings, not all those internet stunts Tiffany pulls.”

Zoe and Sara both nodded, echoing, “That’s right.”

She then added, her expression softening, “And just to be clear, this isn’t an exclusive contract. You’re completely in control. If you create a piece you’d like us to sell, we’d be honored to display it. But if there’s something you’d rather keep for yourself or show elsewhere, that’s always your choice. Our standard commission is fifty percent, but for you, we’d only ask for thirty. We want this to feel right for you, so if that doesn’t work, we’re happy to talk it over.”

Alicia had known, ever since her last life, that this gallery was always struggling. They never had any farnous artists, nor did they have truly remarkable paintings. Back when she first ran into them, she’d overheard them desperately brainstorming ways to rescue the business, even bracing themselves for the worst-case scenario.

It was after hearing their worries that she decided to gift them her painting. Looking back, she couldn’t believe how naïve she’d been-she honestly thought Tiffany Lawrence’s Sweetheart Queen fame would draw crowds in, and that just having her work hanging there would turn things around for the gallery.

But reality hit hard-it turned out, what she brought them was trouble, not salvation.

In this life, running into them again, Alicia couldn’t help but want to give them a hand. Not that she was totally selfless-she really needed some money herself. Listing her artwork on overseas websites and messing around with shipping was a total pain. Besides, seeing a painting through a screen just wasn’t the same as viewing it in person. She never wanted her art to be just another click-and-buy thing online. Right now, money was tight, and painting was how she kept afloat. What she needed was a real, physical place to sell her work.

After thinking for a bit, Alicia finally spoke up, “Honestly, your deal is pretty sweet already. But instead of just taking commissions, I want something different-I want to become a partner and invest my talent.”

The three exchanged shocked looks-nobody saw that coming. Then Chloe finally blurted out, “Wait… Miss Lawrence, you mean you want a stake in our gallery?”

“You bet.” Alicia nodded.

Zoe asked carefully, “Miss Lawrence, if you buy into the gallery-especially putting your talent on the line- that means your paintings will be sold here, right?”

Alicia nodded. “Yep, every piece I want to sell will be up for grabs right here in the gallery.”

Hearing that, Zoe’s heart was pounding with excitement. She couldn’t help sneaking a look at Chloe and Sara.

Sara gave Chloe’s sleeve a little tug. “Chloe, you should just tell her.”

Zoe nodded encouragingly at Chloe.

Chloe cleared her throat. “Well, actually…”

Meeting Alicia’s eyes, Chloe finally steeled herself and confessed, “Honestly, our gallery’s been running at a loss for a long time-it’s pretty much on its last legs. We came to you because we’re hoping for a miracle, one last shot to save the place. Your paintings have gotten quite a bit of buzz, and they’re seriously good. So we thought, if you agreed to sign with us, maybe you’d give us a fighting chance. But if you’re not interested, we’ll have no choice but to shut down for good.”

Alicia gave a light laugh. “I get what you’re saying, but honestly, I’m still in. I want to team up with you guys. I’m still in school, soaking up art every day and surrounded by classmates-lots of talented ones, too. I can keep an eye out for the best of them and help sign them on to the gallery. I really believe, if we work together, we can turn things around and breathe new life into this place.”

Zoe blurted out, “Why? Why do you want to help us?”

Alicia smiled gently. “It’s not just about helping you. I need somewhere to actually sell my work, too. I’m not one of those artists who can afford to create just for passion-I’m still a student, I have bills, I need the cash. Painting is how I get by.”

“But you could put your art up in those bigger, more established galleries,” Chloe said. “A lot of them would jump at the chance to sign you, and you’d probably get way better terms.”

Alicia let out a little laugh. “Wait, are you regretting letting me invest now?”

Chloe quickly shook her head. “No, not at all! We’d love for you to become a partner. It’s just… well, we honestly don’t get it-you’ve got way better opportunities out there…”

Alicia flashed them a smile. “It’s simple-you all once helped me out, so now I want to return the favor.”

The three of them froze in surprise. A soft chuckle escaped Zoe. “Wait, you’re doing all of this… just because we stuck up for you at the café?”

‘If only they knew, Alicia thought to herself, ‘that this isn’t about today. It’s about everything that came before.

But she couldn’t say that.

Instead, she offered a gentle smile. “When everyone else just saw a girl who should be grateful to the Lawrences, you were the only ones who tried to see me. You have no idea how much that meant.”

The three of them honestly couldn’t believe it-Alicia was willing to make such a generous decision just because of a couple things they said.

Zoe sighed, “You’re honestly way too naive. Whether our gallery survives or not, it doesn’t really matter. You should seriously think this through.”

Sara nodded along. “Yeah, really, give it another thought. This place is probably a money pit-you could lose everything, and it might even hurt your public image.”

Chloe nodded, too. “Yeah, think it over. Before we came, we’d planned all sorts of ways to get you on board— we even considered lying or making threats, since this is our last chance. But now, seeing how trusting you are, it just doesn’t feel right. It’s only a gallery, after all. There’s no point pulling someone as pure-hearted as you into our mess. We haven’t even done anything for you, just chatted a bit.”
