Alicia sat back in her seat and picked up her fork. Watching Edward worry about her future, she wanted to tell him that she might actually be close to finding her real parents.
‘But none of this is set in stone yet,‘ Alicia thought. ‘What if I do find them and they abandoned me on purpose? If they don’t want me anymore, it’d just break Edward’s heart too. Maybe it’s better he doesn’t know, so he won’t be upset.’
She decided to wait until everything was clearer before telling Edward. But every time she picked up the phone to make the call, her courage just slipped away.
Alicia kept telling herself to wait a couple more days, then tucked the number away again. For now, her life went on just as it always had.
She still went to school every day, had breakfast with Sienna, and everything seemed unchanged. But the way people looked at her had definitely shifted.
Ever since it was revealed that Alicia was the one behind all of Sweetheart Queen’s art, everyone became super curious about her. As a famous online artist now, people would sneak glances at her but were too shy to actually talk to her.
Even those classmates who used to just nod and smile at her before now hurried away whenever they saw her coming.
Alicia found it a little strange but didn’t mind. She hadn’t done anything wrong, so she had nothing to worry about. As long as Sienna was still her friend, that was enough.
She believed that quality was more important than quantity when it came to friends, so she didn’t care much about what others thought.
Then, one day after sketching class, a girl suddenly stopped her in the hallway. “Alicia,” the girl called out.
Alicia looked up, confused. She thought this girl might be causing trouble. After all, when Tiffany was around, she’d often get people to mess with her. Alicia had become used to these sorts of situations.
She fixed her gaze on the girl and asked, her tone frosty and indifferent, “Is there something you want?”
The girl gripped her sketchpad tightly, looking nervous. “Can I ask you something?”
Alicia raised an eyebrow, “Go ahead.”
The girl didn’t expect Alicia to actually listen. She quickly shoved her sketchpad in front of her. “There’s something off about this part of my drawing. Can you help me?”
Alicia paused for a second, then smiled. “Of course.”
She pointed to a spot on the sketch. “See? If you move that shadow a bit, it’ll look more natural. Your light source is coming from the upper left, so the shadows should be on this side, not there. And here…” She patiently went over every detail.

The girl immediately understood and looked back at Alicia, admiring her. Her flawless skin, long lashes, and calm, steady voice made Alicia seem even more amazing.
When Alicia finished explaining, the girl beamed and said, “Thank you, Alicia. You’re so talented. Is it okay if I ask you for help sometimes?”
Alicia nodded. “Of course. Come on, it’s getting late, we should head back.”
The girl nodded eagerly, packed her things, and followed Alicia out of the classroom.
Sienna was waiting outside and immediately grinned as she saw Alicia. “How come you’re ten minutes late today?”
She wasn’t complaining–just making small talk. Before Alicia could answer, Sienna grinned and said, “How about we grab some pasta today?”
Alicia nodded. “Sounds good.” Then she looked back at the girl and asked, “Want to join us?”
The girl’s eyes went wide. “Really? I can join you guys?”
“Of course,” Alicia said with a smile. “Come on.”
The girl lit up. “I’m in.”
So the three of them lined up at the cafeteria, grabbed their plates of pasta, and sat down together.
The girl just couldn’t help sneaking glances at Alicia every now and then.
Alicia touched her face, baffled. “Is there something on my face? Why do you keep looking at me?”
The girl hesitated, then took a deep breath and spilled it out. “Everyone says you’re crazy good at art, and now you’re this famous internet artist. Plus, you’re Edward West’s student.
“You’re like, out of our league, so no one dares talk to you. But honestly, everyone’s super curious, and a bunch of us would love to ask you for advice.
“We just think you might look down on us because you always seem so cool and distant, only hanging out with Sienna. I was nervous to talk to you today, but you’re so nice, way more approachable than I thought.”
Alicia paused, surprised. So that explained it. Lately, she’d felt everyone watching her but then shying away- they thought she was a snob.
She laughed softly. “We’re all classmates. People are just overthinking it.”
The girl nodded and broke into a smile. “Yeah, I guess we do overthink it. You’re really nice, Alicia.”
Lots of students in the cafeteria were surprised to see that Alicia and Sienna’s usual duo suddenly had a third member today–it was definitely something new.
After lunch, a student pulled the girl aside and whispered, “How did you end up eating with Alicia today? I saw you talking to her and even got a smile. How did you do that?”

The girl laughed. “I didn’t do anything special. I just treated her like a classmate. Honestly, Alicia is nothing like what people say. She’s really kind.
“I asked her for advice, and she explained everything to me patiently. She even invited me to eat with her. People are really overthinking it. Alicia’s awesome.”
“Seriously? Are you for real?” someone gave her a skeptical look.
But the girl nodded earnestly. “Totally serious. She’s really nice.”
